Sofia, Bulgaria

Bulgaria’s capital is a captivating mix of vibrant culture, rich history and contemporary urban charm. Think ancient ruins and stunning Orthodox churches alongside contemporary street art. Bustling markets and tranquil parks. Restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and the trendiest brunches. All in a truly friendly atmosphere – and very affordable. Ready to discover the best of Sofia? Let’s get started. When should I go to Sofia? The best time to visit Sofia is between May and October, when the temperatures are warm, the sun is shining and visitors can get out and explore. The spring months of May and June are more likely to see rain, but there are also plenty of sunny days. The warmest weather occurs in the summer months, with average temperatures of 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F) from June to September. However, summer is also one of the quietest times in Sofia as many Bulgarians leave the city for a seaside holiday . These months – and August in particular – can be a great time to explore Sofia without too much traffic or crowds. Sofia offers a convenient mix of metro, tram, and bus services. Given its heavy traffic, the extensive and reliable metro is the best option for getting around quickly. (Even to the airport.) You don’t need to buy a ticket for public transportation; all you need to pay is a contactless debit or credit card. Or, choose a prepaid card that fits your stay – whether it’s for a day, 10 weekly rides, or even longer. Sofia recently introduced shared bike rental stations . While cycling isn’t yet a major part of the local culture and drivers have a lot to learn about sharing the road, it can still be a fun way to get around. Check out the city’s bike path map to get an idea of the easiest (and safest) way to get where you need to go. If you prefer to drive, consider using Spark , a short-term car rental service that offers flexibility without the hassle of a long contract. Keep in mind that driving and parking in Sofia can be a challenge, especially during peak hours. If you really don’t need a car, it’s probably best to avoid owning one. The city center operates on a zone parking system, which can be difficult to navigate.#sofia #bulgaria #100waysoftravel 📍Address:
