Explore the Most Beautiful Scenery—Qixing Mountain

Qixing Mountain was originally an administrative village with a perilous path up the mountain that was not accessible by car, earning it the nickname 'Zhangjiajie's Tibetan Plateau'. The summit of Qixing Mountain is said to have been an observatory for celestial observations by the ancient Emperor Zhuanxu. Atop Qixing Mountain, there are approximately a hundred peaks of varying sizes, especially seven peaks that are the highest and are distributed in the pattern of the Big Dipper. These seven peaks are also named after the stars: Tian Shu Peak, Tian Xuan Peak, Tian Ji Peak, Tian Quan Peak, Yu Heng Peak, Kai Yang Peak, and Yao Guang Peak. These seven peaks are clustered around the main peak to the north, which is Qixing Mountain itself, with an elevation of 1509 meters (not the highest peak). The main peak of Qixing Mountain is precisely located at the intersection of the meridian and latitude lines on the modern map. Emperor Zhuanxu once conducted long-term observations of the movements of the sun, moon, and stars here, creating China's first ancient calendar, commonly known as the 'Zhuanxu Calendar'. Therefore, Qixing Mountain is a sacred mountain filled with wonder. The natural scenery is beautiful, and the environment is superior. Qixing Mountain was formed at the end of the Jurassic period, consisting of seven peaks including Nanshan and Tashan. The scenic area is named for its mountain shape, which closely resembles the Big Dipper. There are numerous ravines crisscrossing the mountains, with layers of lush greenery, and more than twenty gullies such as Fox Ditch. On the southern slope of Tashan, there is a spring, whose water is clear, cool, and sweet.
