Tangier is an ancient city and seaport in northern Morocco, the largest tourist center in the country, and the second largest city in terms of economy. Tangier is a historic ancient city, built by the Phoenicians in the 6th century BC, and is one of the oldest cities in the world. Tangier is located at the mouth of Tangier Bay in the Strait of Gibraltar, only 11-15 kilometers from the European continent, and is known as the closest city in Morocco to Europe. It is located on the southern shore of the Strait of Gibraltar, guarding the throat of the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, and its strategic position is very important, and it has always been a place of contention for military strategists. In modern times, it became an "international condominium" of the European and American powers until the country gained independence in 1956. Tangier has a pleasant climate all year round, with endless beaches, making it a resort and is known as the summer capital of Morocco. After breakfast, visit the old town of Tangier (Figure 2), the ancient city walls (Figure 3), and the traditional market. The streets (Figure 4) and buildings (Figure 5) are imprinted with the traces of history, telling visitors about the past and present (Figure 6). The boundary between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean in Morocco is located at Cape Spartel in Tangier (Figure 7). On the cliffs there are two wooden signs, marked in Arabic and French, indicating the direction of the "Atlantic Ocean" and the "Mediterranean Sea" (Figure 8). On a clear day, you can see the islands controlled by Spain. Not far from here is the famous geographical landmark, the Spartel Lighthouse (Figure 9). "The Cave of Africa" (Figure 1). On the Atlantic coast not far from Tangier, there is a strange cave, known locally as the "Cave of Hercules" or "Cave of Africa". The cave is not large, but what is amazing is that the entrance to the cave is actually similar to a map of Africa, even including the island of Madagascar. It was formed naturally by the waves hitting the rocks over the centuries and has become a natural attraction in Tangier. Tangier is the northernmost point of the Moroccan leg of the trip, and will then turn south to visit the fifth stop - Tetouan.
