The Tokyo National Museum's Horyuji Gallery is truly impressive with its 63 Important Cultural Property statues.

The Horyuji Treasures Museum houses around 300 treasures related to Horyuji, including numerous National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties. In particular, Room 2 features approximately 63 Important Cultural Properties, displayed in four vertical rows and ten horizontal rows, centered around Kannon Bodhisattva statues from the 6th to 8th centuries. Surrounded by Kannon Bodhisattva, you can feel the breeze of the Asuka period. On the mezzanine floor, you can view a digital viewer of the wall paintings from the Horyuji Kondo, which were lost in a fire in 1949. These images have been recreated using modern technology based on original glass plate photographs. The wall paintings reportedly depicted over 50 episodes of Prince Shotoku. It's truly a pity that these cultural properties have been lost.
