The heart of the Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica: From the cupola view to the traces of the Pope

The most common way to get to St. Peter's Basilica from the center of Rome is to take the Metro Line A and get off at Ottaviano-San Pietro Station. From there, you can walk to the Basilica in about 10 minutes. If you take the bus, take the number 64 bus from near Termini Station and get off at the stop near the Vatican. If you walk, it will take about 30-40 minutes, passing major attractions such as Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Public transportation runs from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, so check the times. St. Peter's Basilica is one of the largest Catholic churches in the world, located in the center of Vatican City. It is built over the tomb of Saint Peter, one of the disciples of Jesus, and is particularly famous for its massive dome designed by Michelangelo. Inside the Basilica, you can see masterpieces such as Bernini's 'Baldacchino' and Michelangelo's 'Pieta'. Also, if you climb to the top of the cupola, you can see the whole view of Rome and the Vatican at a glance, which was an unforgettable experience. Admission is free, but there is an additional fee to climb the cupola, and there are two options: stairs and an elevator. St. Peter's Basilica was truly overwhelming. As soon as I entered the cathedral, I was amazed by its enormous scale and ornate decorations, and when I saw Michelangelo's 'Pieta' in person, it was so delicate and beautiful. The stairs to the cupola were quite steep and narrow, but the view from the top was worth all the effort. The moment when you can see the Vatican City and the city of Rome at a glance is truly unforgettable. However, the waiting time for admission can be long, so I recommend going early in the morning or making a reservation online.
