Venice the Ancient City Built on Water

#ancienttownvibes Venice is an ancient city that dates way back to the 5th Century AD. It is located in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. It was built by merchants to protect themselves from raids after the fall of the Roman Empire. And eventually became a major maritime port in the 10th Century. We had the pleasure of visiting this unique city during our trip to Northern Italy. And I must say, we were blown away. It’s no other city like Venice. The architecture is stunning with lots of history behind them. It is a little touristy but that is expected as everyone wants to visit, however take some time to wander along the quiet canals and bridges where you’ll find no one. The eeriness and spookiness transported us back to the ancient world and we had a small glimpse of what it would feel like to live there. I highly reccomend veering off the main tourist sights and just get lost in the wonder of this ancient city. It felt otherworldly. You have got to visit at least once in your life.
