The Li Family Courtyard is located in Yanjing Village, Wanrong County, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, and records the ups and downs of the Li family in southern Shanxi over the past century. During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, the Li family fled from Shaanxi to Xuedian Village, Wanrong County, Shanxi Province. The eighth generation, Li Yongshan, moved to Yanjing Village. They mainly engaged in traditional agriculture and also engaged in family handicrafts, gradually becoming well-off. During the period of the thirteenth generation, Li Wenbing, they began to develop commerce and gradually became rich. During the Guangxu period (1875-1908), the fourteenth generation, Li Jingxin and Li Jingyi, innovated the sit-in business (merchants with fixed business premises) based on Li Wenbing, and established the "Jingxinyi" business name, and the Li family further prospered. During the Republic of China, the fifteenth generation, Li Daoxing, studied in the UK and married a British woman. After graduation, he returned to China and continued to engage in commercial activities and develop industry. Under his management, the Li family reached its peak, and the Li Family Courtyard was also built during this period, combining Western "Gothic" elements to build Jingcun Villa and San Shengtai Courtyard, and rebuild the Ziming Hall and the gate building of the Li Family Courtyard. At this point, the Li Family Courtyard was basically completed. Later, the Anti-Japanese War broke out, and the Li family fled to other places. The courtyard gradually became deserted. It was not until the eve of the liberation of New China in 1949 that the Li Family Courtyard was used as the office of Fennan Middle School. A hundred years have passed in a blink of an eye, and the Li Family Courtyard has also witnessed the ups and downs of history.
