The United States Capitol

#usatravel #washingtondc During our trip to Washington, D.C., we had a chance to visit the United States Capitol, the seat of the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. It is an iconic symbol of American democracy and has been the site of many significant historical events. We were very excited, as we had been planning this trip for some time. The Capitol is a beautiful architectural establishment, and we were overwhelmed by its design, which features neoclassical architecture drawing inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman designs. One of the most recognizable features of the Capitol is its massive dome, completed in 1866 and topped by the Statue of Freedom. Even the heat of Washington, D.C., couldn’t deter us from staying a little longer to enjoy the beauty of this magnificent landmark.
