Jingniang Lake

Jingniang Lake Scenic Area is located to the north of Koushang Village in the northwestern mountainous region of Wu'an City, Handan, Hebei Province, in the hinterland of the Taihang Mountains. It is also known as Koushang Reservoir and is often referred to as the 'Three Gorges of Taihang'. Historical records indicate that the story of Emperor Zhao Kuangyin sending Jingniang a thousand miles took place here. The lake is named after this story. Jingniang Lake was constructed between 1966 and 1969, with a maximum water surface area of 2,500 mu and a storage capacity of 32 million cubic meters. The lake surface is shaped like an inverted 'human' character, with two branches to the east and west, each 3 kilometers long. The area has been developed into a tourist scenic area and a summer retreat, leveraging its mountainous and aquatic scenery. It includes 18 scenic spots such as the high gorge and flat lake, Xianling Gorge, Song Ancestor Gorge, Jingniang Gorge, the lion's head raised in anger, the divine turtle peering out, the eagle's gaze, the goddess scattering grain at Tunshan, the stacked bridge playing with the moon, the camel's hump competing in beauty, the cold pool's lingering regret, the cloud cliff's entrusted aspirations, the ancient rock's drifting silk, and the green peak's unfolding screen hiding scriptures. Jingniang Lake Scenic Area capitalizes on its unique natural and cultural resources, promoting local cultural characteristics and integrating rich regional culture into the picturesque mountains and waters.
