Wuyuan, with its profound cultural heritage, has been praised as the 'Qufu of Jiangnan' and the 'Hometown of Books' since ancient times. From the Song Dynasty onwards, its literary atmosphere became increasingly strong, producing 2,665 officials, over 3,100 works, and 172 entries in the 'Siku Quanshu'. The local environment nurtures its people, and generations of literary spirit have created renowned figures. Literary figure Zhu Bian, philosopher, educator, and Neo-Confucian master Zhu Xi, Ming Dynasty seal carver He Zhen, Qing Dynasty classical scholar Jiang Yong, scientist Qi Yanhui, 'Father of the Railway' Zhan Tianyou, and modern medical scientist Cheng Menxue all emerged from here and made their mark across the nation and the world.
