Haoyue Garden

Haoyue Garden is located on the seaside of Fuding Rock in the eastern part of Gulangyu Island, spreading along the bank of Lujiang River. With statues as the core, supplemented by Ming-style architectural groups, blue glazed tiles are matched with stone doors, stone pillars, stone platforms, stone steps, stone barriers and stone paths, forming a beautiful picture with the blue sky, beach, tide, trees, and huge rocks, creating a quiet and magnificent environment. Haoyue Garden is a statue garden commemorating the national hero Zheng Chenggong. Its name is derived from the two words 'Haoyue' in Zheng Chenggong's poem 'Thinking of you, I can't sleep, the bright moon shines through the plain curtain', expressing the remembrance of the hero and the longing for the compatriots in Taiwan. The statue of Zheng Chenggong standing on the top of Fuding Rock overlooking the sea has become the main building in the garden. It is also the largest statue of historical figures in China. The large-scale bronze relief in the garden reproduces the historical scene of Zheng Chenggong leading his troops to cross the East and drive the Dutch to recover Taiwan.
