The First Mountain in Xuyi County, Jiangsu Province

The First Mountain National Forest Park is located in the county urban area, formerly known as Nanshan. It is embraced by Cuiping Peak on the left, Fengpoling on the right, Qingfeng Mountain on the north, and facing the Changhuai River, surrounded by mountains, with one peak standing out. Mi Fu, a painter and calligrapher of the Northern Song Dynasty, was appointed as the county magistrate of Lianshui. When he traveled south from the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, Bianjing (now Kaifeng), along the Bian River and entered the Huai River, he suddenly saw the unique and beautiful Nanshan, which inspired him to write a poem 'The First Mountain Reminiscing the Past': 'The wind and dust of Jingluo return a thousand miles, the bow of the ship comes out of the Bian River between the green screens. Don't talk about Heng and Huo hitting the stars, it is the first mountain in the southeast', and inscribed the three vigorous characters of 'The First Mountain'. Since then, Nanshan has been renamed 'The First Mountain'. The First Mountain Cliff has left 139 inscriptions by famous people such as Su Shi, with all styles of calligraphy, which are very precious. In 2010, it was rated as a national AAAA level scenic spot, and in 2013, it was promoted to a national cultural relics protection unit and a national key cultural relics protection unit.
