Yazd is a jewel in the desert with unique Persian architecture and is nicknamed the "City of Wind Catchers" because of the pretty wind catchers that surround the city. It is also very famous for its Zoroastrian fire temple, cisterns, underground canals, refrigeration plants, Persian handicrafts, hand-woven clothing, silk weaving, candyfloss and its time-honoured confectioneries.
