Anling Academy, once as famous as Yuelu Academy, is known as the No. 1 academy in southern Hunan.

Yongxing Anling Academy, the No. 1 academy in southern Hunan, was once as famous as Yuelu Academy. Anling Academy is located in the Bianjiang Scenic Area of Yongxing County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. It is built on an island in the river, connected to the land by a bridge. Covering an area of 50,000 square meters, the academy features classical architecture in the style of Suzhou gardens. Walking through the academy, you will find yourself surrounded by rockeries, waterfalls, corridors, bridges, pavilions, and flowing water. The garden is full of lush green grass and ancient trees, creating a picturesque and relaxing environment that will make you reluctant to leave. Anling Academy was first built in the Song Dynasty. Yongxing was formerly known as Anling, hence the name. At its peak, the academy became the No. 1 academy in southern Hunan, and was known as "Yuelu in the north, Anling in the south," leading the way for hundreds of years. Across the river from Anling Academy stands an ancient camphor tree, which is over 1,200 years old. It takes only 5 minutes by boat to get close to it. The ancient camphor tree is 30 meters high, with a crown covering an area of more than 3 mu, and a circumference of more than 10 meters, requiring eight adults to encircle it. Known as the "Treasure of the River," it was successfully selected as one of the "Most Beautiful Ancient Trees" in China, and is one of the nine ancient trees selected in Hunan.
