Yueyang Tower is one of the four great towers of ancient China.

Located on the north shore of Dongting Lake in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, it was first built in 215 AD during the Eastern Han Dynasty. The current structure was rebuilt in 1880 during the Qing Dynasty. The tower is 19.42 meters tall, rectangular, three stories, with four columns, flying eaves, and a helmet-shaped roof. It is made entirely of wood. In 1044, during the Northern Song Dynasty, Teng Zijing was demoted to the position of county magistrate of Yuezhou. The following year, he rebuilt Yueyang Tower, and his friend Fan Zhongyan (a high-ranking official) wrote the famous "Memorial to Yueyang Tower." The tower became famous, and Teng Zijing was promoted. Li Bai wrote a couplet: "The water and sky are one color, the wind and moon are boundless," which describes the scenery of Yueyang Tower. Poetry lovers can recite the "Memorial to Yueyang Tower" in full to get a free ticket. Tickets are not expensive, and night tickets are half price.
