Absolutely out of this world!

Zhangjiajie National Park is a sprawling mass of incredible scenery and majestic rock formations that should form the basis of all trips to the area. The bus services offer easy access to all parts of the park and the numerous staff at all the car parks are always helpful when directing you on your merry way. Getting there early is the best way to avoid some of the crowds, but ultimately you have to embrace the fact that it’s an area of outstanding natural beauty, China has 1.4 billion people (plus tourists!), so at any point, at least a percentage of them are going to be in Zhangjiajie National Park! The views are amazing in any weather but the highlight for us was meandering along the “whip” in the valley of the park, with the steady flowing stream and imposing rock formations all around! Photos can never do this place justice. This is a place where you witness it with your own eyes. The feeling you see it in real for the first time is irreplaceable. One slight frustration is the limited English and plethora of different maps, which can be tricky to understand without help from a friendly local.
