If you visit Sicily, this hotel is a must. Beautiful and the service is fantastic. Our room had a beautiful view with its own terrace. The staff is amazing. Always very helpful. I left a lot of clothes at the hotel and they found them and arranged to have everything mailed back to me in Florida. I received all of my clothes in less than one week. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and the entire staff. The restaurant had delicious food and the pool was so inviting. Also, it is close to many excellent restaurants. There is also a bus close by that takes you into Taormina. Fantastic all the way around!

La stanza con vista mare è incantevole e la piscina davvero molto pulita…ma ciò che mi ha colpito di più è stato il personale, ragazzi davvero cordiali e attenti che mi hanno consigliato durante tutto il mio soggiorno. La struttura è accogliente e curata nei minimi dettagli. Insomma un weekend speciale!! Tornerò sicuramente!

Hays travel were the only travel company who would bend to our needs. That was a hotel, half board for 2 weeks and then a delayed return flight of one week so we could sail around the volcanic islands north of Sicily. Lovely country Sicily, the people, if you try their lingo, they love it and help and encourage you contantly. The Hotel Caparena was chosen because it was half way between the airport and marina we sailed from. What a fabulous hotel it was too, we shall return. Quite small with plenty of staff. The premises were immaculate, the buffet breakfast suited everyones needs and the dinner was 4 courses of food that I have not experienced before, so Italian/Sicilian. The menu lasted for two nights only and then completely replaced. In the two weeks the menus were never repeated in the same order. We were the only English there which is probably why the standard was so high, full of italians so it was. Never saw a chip or french frie! Beach excellent, lifeguards too. There was a free hotel bus to the nearest town, Taomina, what a beautiful town, it made our home City of York look sad. We used the local trains as well, easy when Italian and English is spoken on the tannoy system. Great hotel, great country, well worth the visit

L’hotel comodo e pulito si trova situato vicino a dei laghetti naturali tra il mar Tirreno e lo stretto di Messina e in lontananza Reggio Calabria. Un posto davvero unico. Abbiamo soggiornato due notti usufruendo anche della cucina rimanendo sorpresi dalla varietà sia della colazione che della cena. Ci ritornerò sicuramente

We (couple) stayed at this hotel for one week in September. I regretted this as our choice for accommodation as the quality was so poor. I had booked it purely based on the location but after having been to Taormina there are many places off the main street which are just as well located. The town is small and very walkable even if you are not on the main street. In fact, we regretted being on the main street as we were woken up at 5/6am every morning the crash of bottles being collected by trucks outside. The first issue we had when we arrived was that the hotel had no irons. Everything we had packed needed to be ironed after being in our cases. In my opinion having an iron in the room/hotel is an absolute basic and must. The reception said that they could not provide this due to 'security'. This sounded unusual but when I googled; a hotel which is not up to fire safety standards is not allowed to provide irons/kettles in the rooms, so I guess this is the case here. Another weak point is the breakfast offering. There was very little selection and the bread was not fresh. The first few mornings there was a lovely lady serving breakfast but the next few days there was a man who just seemed annoyed with everyone, we found him to be rude and after this we decided to avoid the breakfast altogether. It was much better to get a coffee and patisserie outside. The rooms in general are in need of an upgrade, you can feel that the owner of this hotel does not care about the product but still charges high prices. We had curtains falling down and mold and rust in the bathroom. Despite being totally let down by the quality of the hotel there was a lovely gentleman called Carmelo who worked nights on reception. He greeted us every night and we had some nice chats with him. To sum up, I work in the hotel industry myself and would absolutely not write a bad review if I didn't feel it was warranted. Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel and most definitely will not be back there myself. Its a real shame to the owners/management.

++ This hotel was an amazing surprise in Taormina. We had to reschedule our stay because of the closure of the airport and they were very helpfull and responsive. The hotel is somewhere between a large and a boutique hotel. It is full of surprises, each corner and floor being different, and exquisitely decorated. The breakfast was very good and diverse. The staff was helpfull and nice. The centre is a short walk away. Our room had breath-taking views over the swimming pool and the Messina Strait. A long walk with stairs to our room, but we had no problems with that, in fact walking through the gardens and corridors is in itself a nice experience. We definitely recommend. - - The only negative points are the opening hours of the swimming pool (our son stood there with his buoy and swimming gear, when the sun was already quite high, waiting for the fence to open). It should open much earlier. The other quite negative experience was the dent the staff made in our newly rented car and which the management refused to accept. The parking lot is very very small and tight and you need to be an experienced driver to fit your car in one of the available spots. We had to hand the keys of our car and someone of the staff moved it overnight. The next day we discovered a dent that perfectly matched the colour and height of a vase in one of the bends. There is no question it was made in the hotel as it was the first stop after picking the car in the airport (were we supervised it) and when I arrived I parked it in a wide place that didn't requite any special manouvre. We only made a comment and didn't even asked for financial compensation as it was fully insured... Just be careful if you bring your own car or if you don't have an insurance!
