We were pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Volubilis. We hesitated to book the hotel because of some bad reviews about not having hot water and the staff being unfriendly (especially to Asians). But we decided to book anyways because of its location and quite affordable price. We were arriving to Fez at around 5pm, and we were told staying at the Medina wouldn't be worth it. Since we were catching a flight the next morning, we thought it would be more convenient to stay in the new city. So, despite some of the bad reviews, we decided to spend the night at Hotel Volubilis. Its location turned out to be great. It's right at the center and by the main avenue. There are lots of places to eat at walking distance and there are several Carrefours closeby also at walking distance. The staff was nice and they welcomed us well and took our request for a taxi to the airport in the morning. So, we have no complaints about the staff. Our room was big with a terrace. The room was old but clean. The terrace had no table or chairs, but it was okay. The bathroom was also big and we had no issues with the hot water. We showered at arrival and in the morning and water was hot and with pressure. The thing that we missed the most in the room was a fridge. Other than that, all good and acceptable. Though we agree with the other comments saying that this is not a 4-star hotel by ”global” standards.

The hotel has very good location 5 minutes walking to Burg Fes Mall and near to the old city , staff at the Reception very friendly (Ms Hanan) also at the main restaurant, food whatever for Breakfast or Dinner are very good and enough, don’t like to forget the Housekeeping ladies are excellent, but the hotel now under maintenance for the rooms and some outlets I can give this hotel 6 - 7 from 10

We spent 5 days after Christmas here. Where to start ? The heart of the place resides with the welcoming staff. This Riad is a retreat from everything. The building is an amazing renovation and so interestingly decorated with lots of areas to relax in, and you can read your book by a log fire, or sit and look at the long views to the mountains from the rooftop. It is one of those places where the centre is open to the sky but filled with orange trees and seating, with tiled steps to rooms around the edges. We chose to come for winter sunshine, but of course it is cool early in the day and the warmth was appreciated in the rooftop breakfast room from the log fire . To accommodate our dates we stayed in 2 rooms, with very comfy beds, the Ghislaine and yellow room. We quite like staying at our base in the evening after a long day when all your senses are filled to the brim, and we enjoyed all our meals here. We had organised by email in advance an outing to Volubilus & Meknes by private taxi (followed by a relaxing hammam & spa treatment for both of us together ), and a guided tour of the streets and some sights in Fes on our first day. We arranged a most enjoyable cooking lesson through Riad Anata (suggested by the reception team) starting with a wander to the vegetable market for the ingredients . We would definitely recommend staying here to any of our friends and would pick it again should we return. Some places you have to tear yourself away from, and this is an excellent choice in Fes. We had travelled via Casablanca from Marrakesh by train and were met at the station by a pre-arranged taxi through the Riad , and also to the airport. We had full confidence in the drivers Omar and Saddiq, our transport worked smoothly to plan .

We are a couplle had a womderful stay in Riad Algila Fes which served us excellent breafast with tea and coffee and we enjoyed a lot. Especially Zouhair served nice tea and took extra efforts eg hot water jug and gave a final help in a very early morning when we depart the hotel. Diga gave a lot on Morrocco historical insights related to Arabic and others regions. That was a good conversation and reflecr a lot what we heard from other guides. We stayed three nights there and those became unforgettable experience in such January 2025. I trust this is a great start for us and very thanksful for all services and values they created. There were a few minor hardware challenges such as intermittent electric plugs on and off but a technician is dispatched soonest and we also learned quickly how to manage the plugs contact. This also makes sense how we enjoy in living in a history and this challenge is also becoming a good memory. We will aim to come again Morrocco and may have a next visit in some years later. Hotel di livello, con servizio impeccabile e ristoranti molto accoglienti e rilassanti. Iniziamo dalla location: a Fes, un po' fuori il centro storico ( e questo è un bene) in un'area ricca di vegetazione. L'hotel si presenta molto ben curato, la hall e molto ampia e il servizio di accoglienza davvero perfetto. Le camere sono pulite e ben arredate, letti king e queen comodi, aria condizionata funzionante alla perfezione. Insomma, una bella scoperta, anche dal prezzo accessibile per chi cerca un servizio di un certo livello.

A private and beautiful hotel outside the Medina, Hotel Sahrai is a good choice for travellers looking to reside outside the hustle and bustle of the old city. The amenities provided were top class though the breakfast selection and dinner quality could be improved upon. The hotel sits on top of a hill and the rooftop provides a beautiful view of the old medina and Jewish quarters. This is a good choice if you have a lot of luggage as cars are not allowed to drop you in Riads inside the Medina.

My husband and I only had one night in Fes on our honeymoon, but it was very memorable thanks to Riad Fes Baraka. The riad itself is beautiful and clean, and our room (the Berbère suite) was cozy and quiet despite being right next to the pool and courtyard. What especially made our stay great was Samir's hospitality. He welcomed us with incredible Moroccan mint tea, organized a medina guide for us last minute, and went above and beyond when we asked him to take a few photos of us in the riad. We were sad to leave so soon, and would definitely stay here again should we make it back to Fes in the future.

Our stay at Riad Jamal in Fes was truly exceptional. The traditional architecture and authentic Moroccan aesthetic created an enchanting atmosphere that enhanced our experience. Our hosts were incredibly warm and friendly, always ready to assist with anything we needed. Each morning, we were treated to a delicious Moroccan breakfast accompanied by refreshing mint tea, setting a perfect tone for the day. Our bedroom was a haven of comfort, allowing us to sleep like babies, while the fully equipped bathroom provided all the essentials, including soft towels, shampoos, and a hairdryer. I highly recommend Riad Jamal to anyone seeking a genuine Moroccan experience. It’s a beautiful place that captures the essence of Fes!
