My husband and I spent 4 nights here to explore the area. We booked a family room with king bed and sofa which gave us extra room. We were comfy in the room. We were happy there was YouTube on the tv so we had plenty to watch. The room and hotel were clean. The breakfast buffet had a good variety although they didn’t keep the hot menu items hot like eggs, beans, bacon. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did a great whale watching tour in Olafvik, drove around the peninsula, walked the Hellnar trail and saw the nesting Kittihawks on the south side of the peninsula.

A lovely little hotel! Don’t let the approach fool you - it doesn’t look much from the outside but it really is lovely. The room we had was spacious and clean with a gorgeous view of the the mountain and the beach. The bathroom was clean and had a good shower. There isn’t anywhere else to go and eat so either plan accordingly or have the buffet at the restaurant - it’s expensive but as a one off it was worth it! The staff were incredibly helpful too - we’d been having some issues with our car and they were more than willing to help us out! Make sure you take a visit down the road to see the seals!

Abbiamo dormito in una delle piccole casette con tetto curvo che solo a vederle vale il prezzo, paiono uscite da film come Il signore degli Anelli. La ”casetta” famigliare ha un ambiente principale ed una microstanzetta in cui entra solo un letto (forse non adatta a persone claustrofobiche). In pratica è come essere in una sistemazione in tenda, ma con tetto e pareti di legno. C'è anche una bella sedia a dondolo ed un mini frigorifero (a mio avviso poco utile). Il prezzo è, per le quotazioni medie islandesi, molto basso. Al prezzo base va aggiunto quello di noleggio per lenzuola coperte ed asciugamani (se non li avete per conto vostro). Anche così mi pare che arrivavamo a circa un centinaio di euro. Il camping offre tutti i servizi che possiate desiderare, i bagni sono molto puliti (anche se sono pochi per la potenziale affluenza - in realtà non ho mai aspettato per andare al bagno) e ci sono due zone con cucina e sala dove mangiare. Io consiglio comunque l'eccellente ristorante con una magnifica vetrata con vista su cascate e natura. Staff molto gentile e disponibile. Veramente carino anche il Giardino dei Troll, perfetto per una passeggiata sia se avete bambini sia senza. é stato anche il primo posto dove abbiamo visto l'Aurora: se salite nella collinetta dove c'è il Giardino dei Troll non avete disturbi luminosi e potete godere dello splendore delle luci del Nord... Presenti anche delle vasche idromassaggio con acqua riscaldata. Non le abbiamo usate perchè erano sempre piene. Nelle vicinanze del camping però ci sono anche delle altre zone termali che consiglio, come Krauma. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di tempo bello e temperature miti, ma certo se si deve andare al bagno di notte al freddo magari l'esperienza potrebbe non essere fantastica (ma ovviamente fa parte della vita da campeggio). Ci sono anche casette con bagni privati, ma il prezzo aumenta.

Extremely helpful staff in checkin. Beautiful room, very clean and warm, spacious and comfortable beds. Breakfast was delicious a wide range of dishes. Nearby wharf /ferry and excellent restaurants.

Perfectly fine but if you’re budget conscious, this isn’t the place to spend extra $$. After looking at options on the peninsula, this seemed like the best option, even though it was more expensive than other options. The view was great but not really worth paying more when all we really wanted was good food and a comfy place to sleep. Did not love our meals, pretty bland overall. Also, the pillows on the bed were flat. The room was clean and the staff were friendly, but not a great value for what you get.

I liked it a lot, was traveling with a friend. Stayed 1 night. Recommend staying 2 nights. Loads of stuff to see and do around there. Not often when the real place is more beautiful then in pictures. Was in a superior room, size was good. Food was great, went for the brie cheese as a starter and steak for dinner. Beds were comfy and I slept very well. Spa is excellent. Total relaxation. All in all, liked this place alot.

Nice set up with multiple cottages on one side of the road (further from the water) and the hotel on the other side (closer to the water). If view is important to you, then the hotel might have better access to water view as some of the cottages probably look at the buildings of the hotel. Luckily my cottage was at the east end (room 11) so my window had an unobstructed view of the water, and my door could see the hotel/water as well. Check in is at the Arnarstapi Center (where the restaurant is) and that’s also where you park your car. It’s a short 1-2 min walk to your cottage. But you are allowed to drive up to your cottage to unload luggage before parking your car a bit further. The inside is basic but lights were functional. Kettle, microwave, and mini fridge. We didn’t want to eat at the restaurant so bought a sandwich before coming here and microwaved it to heat it up. Would be nice if they provided basic utensils and plates. I had no problems with wifi as some others have had. Fast connection, could watch Netflix. It is true there is limited hot water (~5 min) but my partner and I just showered 1 hour apart at the end of the night. Both had hot water and with the expectation it would be short lived. It’s nearby to the trail by the waterfront including the stone bridge which was pretty. I would stay here again if I drove into the peninsula again.

Удобное местоположение. Очень чисто и аккуратно. Вид на море (но оно не близко, или на горы). Завтрак весьма скромный - хлеб, сыр, ветчина, вареное яйцо. Выпечки нет. Общий душ совмещен с туалетом - один на 4 номера.

The hotel is very good with a nice modern architecture. It is comfortable and clean! Breakfast is good with buffet.

This amazing hotel is located about 90 minutes to two hours north of Reykjavik and it's worth the journey. Very clean rooms, comfy beds and a wonderful restaurant. Check in was really easy and our room was ready. They do wake you if the Northern Lights appear, and we were in the perfect spot for tours in The Cave and to the Glacier. A couple of tips - housekeeping is done 3pm to 5pm rather than in the morning. The restaurant gets really busy so book your tables before you arrive. The hotel is about half an hour from the nearest supermarket, and the fridge in your room is empty so stock up if you think you might need anything specific. There is a minimarket nearby but it's not well stocked.

Don't let the fact that this hotel is listed as a one star hotel put you off, I have stayed in 5 star hotels that are not as clean or welcoming. On arrival we received a friendly greeting, and although we were early we were able to go to our room. Although the rooms are not be biggest or packed with modern facilities, we again didn't need that. Who needs a TV when you have such stunning places to visit outside. As above the room was clean the beds were combatable, I asked for and received an extra pillow with no issues. The hotel is located close to the shops so provisions are not an issue and food can be cooked in the dining room, if you wish. We were there in off season so breakfast was not being served but a simple breakfast was provided in the mornings tea, coffee and hot chocolate all day. The sauna and hot tub were a great place to watch the northern lights. After a couple of days we were moved to a sea facing cabin, as we were staying a week again this was very clean and had the addition of a small kitchen and dining area. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily go back there.

We were so looking forward to our stay here. We were in Iceland on our honeymoon and thought that this place sounded very romantic. Sadly, when we checked in, there was no one at all working there. We had received an email about where to find our key to our room when we arrived, but that was it. We had assumed that perhaps the owner had just thought that they might be off on a horse ride or in town shopping and would be back soon. We had really wanted to go horseback riding and were looking forward to the hot tub. Sadly we missed out on both which was very disappointing. We had also hoped to get some questions answered about some places we wanted to visit in the area and of course, had no chance to do that. The next morning, we hoped we'd finally get to meet the owners, but there was just a young girl working there who was very lovely, and who had prepared a nice breakfast buffet, but she wasn't from the area, and was unable to answer any of our questions. Also, the shower in our room did not drain properly and we ended up with water all over the floor which meant we had to use our bath towels to mop up the mess. That left us with no towels to dry off with, and no one around to get us new ones. We rarely complain, and we typically camp and are used to roughing it, and I will say that the bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. We were just disappointed that the owners didn't make any effort to be there to book riding times with guests or to recommend restaurants or answer questions about Iceland horses, or to do a simple task like getting us towels when we desperately needed them.
