This is a beautiful resort that feels off the beaten path & tranquil from the moment we arrived after a long week on Safari in Tanzania. We had villa #1 which had a spacious living room, bathroom, and separate bedroom. It also had a private pool in the back yard. We choose the 1/2 inclusive package which was perfect for us. It included Breakfast every morning up to 12 noon which was great as we like to eat late while on vacation. It also included dinner every night. The food was very good and the dinner menu changed daily. So much delicious options and reasonably priced wine options made it easy. They have a very long pier at the ocean and it became a habit to get dressed up for dinner & walk out on the pier beforehand for a sunset cocktail. We loved the place so much we only left one day to do a tour of a spice farm and Stones Town. The spice farm experience was amazing & we learned so much about not just the type of spices the island is famous for, but how to use them in a variety of ways that as Americans, we simply didn’t know. Stones Town was very touristy but a not miss is the Slave Market. This is the historical site that documents the history of slavery on Zanzibar which was quite robust in the late 1800’s. As with any stay there are things that weren’t perfect as we had an issue with our pool, but the staff was quick to respond and apologized which made us feel that they truly cared about our stay. I would go back & I highly recommend this resort. Food = A Room = A Restaurant staff = A + Room cleaning staff A + Manager “ Anna” = A + Don’t hesitate to book a stay here!

Great views from hotel, especially from the rooftop restaurant and if you're staying in a seaview room. They have a nice pool with a children section, a comfortable sunbathing area near the pool and an access to the ocean. For the fitness enthusiasts a compact gym with a sunset view is waiting for you. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. One restaurant staff (Daniel, the ”Teacher”), who was the first to serve us left a great first impression.

Wir verbrachten 6 Tage im Amani Villa Nature Retreat und sind sehr zufrieden und glücklich! Wer wirklich absolute Ruhe und eine gute Portion Luxus sucht ist hier genau richtig! Die Anlage besteht aus nur(!) 4 sehr großen Häusern ,das bedeutet mehr als 8 Gäste sind gar nicht möglich! Im Moment werden gerade 4 weitere Häuser gebaut ,was die absolute Ruhe aber überhaupt nicht gestört hat ! Während unseres Aufenthaltes waren wir die ganze Zeit die einzigen Gäste...!!! Das gesamte Personal war also nur für uns da ...was ein Luxus ...!! Das Essen ,egal ob Frühstück,Abendessen oder zwischendurch war hervorragend ! Vielen Dank an Adam ,unseren Koch ! Es wird hier sehr auf Nachhaltigkeit und Ruhe geachtet ! Wie zum Beispiel Wasser in Glasflachen ,so viel man möchte und immer kalt und erfrischend So gibt es auch keinen Fernseher... 2 kleine Abzüge in der ” B Note ” : Das W- LAN ist etwas schwach und es gibt keinen Kühlschrank in den Unterkünften. Zusammenfassend sind wir sehr begeistert und vollkommen zufrieden! GAAAANZ wichtig ...wer Ruhe und vollkommene Entspannung sucht ist hier absolut richtig . TL;DR - you need to go here, it's incredible. Super kind people, incredible views, villas, and vibes. This hotel was the best we have ever been to, and for many reasons. Combination of the view, atmosphere, food, kindness, activities all added to an incredible experience for our honeymoon. We loved our time here, and are already planning on going back in the future. Not just that, but every single person here was incredibly kind -- maybe it's culture of the country, or the culture of this hotel, but every person made us feel actually *appreciated* and felt like we were genuinely welcome and happy to have us there. We have been to many hotels, all with nice staff with professional courtesy, but never truly welcome as if by a friend to their home. Amazing time!

My stay at Samawa Living was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment I arrived, I felt an incredible sense of warmth and care from the staff. As a solo traveller, I was made to feel so safe and seen, which made the experience even more special. It truly felt like a home away from home. I’d like to give a special thanks to Kadogo, Hashimu, Baby, Asha, and the rest of the amazing team who went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Their genuine kindness and attentive service stood out in every interaction. The location of the hotel was perfect – close to the iconic Paje Beach, with convenient access via buggy, so I could enjoy the beauty of the area while still retreating to the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. The boho vibes of Samawa Living were stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed to create a cosy and serene environment. From the delicious meals to the immaculate rooms and tranquil ambience, everything about Samawa Living exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to return! If you’re looking for a safe, stylish, and welcoming place to stay in the Paje area, I highly recommend it.

The villa is very beautiful and peaceful. Stayed there for 12 nights with my boyfriend and we enjoyed the villa so much. All the staff are super friendly and ready to always assist to your satisfaction. The food is very tasty and always freshly made. They are not a five star villa for nothing, They deserve more stars ❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is a very safe environment as well.

Check-in? Smooth as butter. Room? Cleaner than most 5-star hotels I’ve seen so far. Outside terrace? It’s literally Bali combined with Zanzibar. Staff? Friendliest people I’ve probably ever met. Food? The chef should be praised 24/7. This is just a summary of everything that should interest you. We arrived at Coral Rock at around 9am, knowing that check-in is usually at 2pm. We were greeted at the reception by a lady that informed us that the former guests will be leaving and as soon as the room is properly cleaned, we can go in. We left our luggage at the reception and proceeded to relax in the restaurant area while we waited. We had coffees, fruit platters and fresh juices and were entertained by Jerry, a staff member of Coral Rock. We had a very pleasant conversation, he had a wonderful smile and just made time pass easier. After what seemed to only be 5 minutes (but was actually 3 hours), we were informed by Ali (another staff member with whom we completely fell in love) that the room is ready. We proceeded to go to the reception to get the luggage - gasp - which was gone. Instead, the bags were waiting for us in a cool AC’d room, with a big bed full of flowers and fresh water bottles. To die for! This is just our first story with Coral Rock. The following days were amazing as well. Each day we dropped our key off at the reception so housekeeping can occur, which was done very seamlessly. The staff members (especially Ali and Jerry) always made sure to ask us if we need anything and if everything is to our liking. Now, the food… The food! We ate the greatest octopus and calamari ever! We also had a Swahili style seafood coconut curry, which was absolutely (again) to die for. Now, I’ve seen some bad reviews of the tuna tartaki (basically tuna steak), with people saying that it would always be way too dry and cooked extremely well done, which of course is not ideal with this dish; I decided to venture and try it out to see for myself. Needless to say, the reviews were either outdated or simply written by people that have nothing to do whatsoever with food, because it was cooked to perfection. Perfectly medium-rare in the center and crusted with toasted sesame seeds? It was absolutely mesmerizing how perfect that dish was made. I absolutely adored every single part of this experience. Other great dishes include the ramen (all variations of it, as we ate the beef, seafood and chicken ramen), the grilled veggies & calamari salad, the pineapple tart, the curries, and the list could go on and on and on. I was pleased to see the chef and his (cutest toddler ever) daughter, and I would congratulate him all day everyday if I could. We even got to enjoy a stunning floating breakfast all accustomed for by Ali! I can’t describe this place enough. I had high expectations, but Coral Rock exceeded them and then some! Please don’t base your decisions on old, outdated reviews; you might miss out on the greatest experience ever. Note that I’m writing this wit

The hotel sits on the ruins of an ancient palace. Each room was a private cottage and the ocean views are spectacular. The resort is small very quaint and exceptional. The food prepared tremendous. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. We felt very safe at this location especially since it is guarded by the Massai!

The hotel is built around mangroves and the monkeys could be seen all over the hotel which always made our day. It has an authentic feel and it was nice to see locals in the water harvesting seaweed and Maasai on the beach. There was a Maasai show one evening which was great fun to watch. The room had everything we needed and the bathroom / dressing area was huge. We were located near the lobby and there were no problems with noise. The hotel is beautiful and we were honestly awed as we walked around the hotel. We spent a lot of time on the jetty on the days we stayed in resort and had no problems finding sunbeds even when arriving at around 10. The jetty bar is great and a lovely place to spend an evening. It was windy at times but didn’t impact things too much. Admittedly we found the main restaurant did lack variety compared to other all inclusive hotels we stayed at but we always found something to eat. There is another restaurant on site that was payable and we visited twice for dinner while we were there. Fantastic service and food both times. The lobster (around $25) was huge. Staff are great and can’t do enough to help. We had several excursions during our stay which we all enjoyed and spent some time in Paje which is a short taxi ride from the hotel at a cost of around $20. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Zanzibar and this hotel!

The Nest in Zanzibar is a haven for the ”cool and beautiful,” with an effortlessly stylish, Instagram-worthy aesthetic. The charismatic owner has crafted a dream for his family in paradise—a heartwarming story that adds depth to the experience. The ambiance is laid-back and relaxed, drawing easygoing, successful visitors who value authenticity over modern ultra-luxury. Its charm lies in its elegant simplicity and cool vibe. Remember, this is Zanzibar, where life moves ”pole, pole”—slowly. If you can’t embrace this unhurried pace, it may not be the place for you. But for those who can, The Nest is pure magic.

Absolutely loved our stay at Kwanza, my mom and I had the best time. We were greeted by Caroline who always had a smile. Lucky was so jolly and helpful with our bags. Ahamed was always ready to assist with any and everything. The rooms were spacious and clean though there was a day where housekeeping forgot to come and spray the mosquito repellent. We had the best spa day and would highly recommend the full package. The food was exceptional and plentiful, we got the all inclusive package so we had all meals served and would recommend that as the resort is located far from other places. The bar service though needs improving as they were slow because there was only one server per bar but the cocktails were great!! I had forgotten my phone at one of the bathrooms and it was returned to me before I even noticed so the place is very safe.

Not worth 5 stars. We have a lot of experience with five-star hotels, and this hotel absolutely does not meet those standards! We recently stayed here for 8 days. Upon arrival, the hotel looks nice and attractive. The rooms are spacious, it has a nice pool, and the staff is friendly. The manager was present during the week we were there, and he was very kind. The food is okay, but definitely not special. The breakfast buffet is very basic and not extensive. The bread baskets they serve at every meal are filled with old bread from previous days (tough and hard). The hotel has few facilities and doesn’t organize anything. There’s little atmosphere, no music, nothing. There is one restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The beach nearby is nice for a short time, with the sea within walking distance, but later in the day, it’s covered in seaweed, and swimming becomes difficult. Power outages are frequent. The gym equipment doesn’t work! The cross trainer only has an on/off button, but nothing else happens, and the same goes for the bike. When you go to eat, the staff hovers around you, which doesn’t feel comfortable and makes you not want to linger at the table. You feel constantly watched. When you’re lying on the beach, the staff barely comes by to offer drinks or anything else. The location is also mediocre, with few nice bars or restaurants around the hotel, except for ”Scooby Doo.” Paje is a 10-minute drive away. Maybe this hotel would be suitable for older people who want to relax for a few days, but for young people like us (26 and 28), definitely not! A waste of money!! The reason we choose 5-star hotels is because they offer extra luxuries, better service, and more facilities. So, honestly, we feel a bit deceived.

If you're considering a stay at the Fruit and Spice Resort in Zanzibar, prepare for a series of frustrating experiences. The room I was given was in poor condition, particularly the toilet, which was clogged and wouldn’t flush even after we called for assistance. We thought the issue was resolved, but the toilet clogged again the next morning, despite my repeated complaints. To make matters worse, the room had millipedes, and when I raised this concern, the front desk manager dismissed it without offering any real solutions. As if that wasn’t alarming enough, I witnessed a snake in the vicinity, which left me genuinely afraid to stay in that room. While I was eventually upgraded, the new room showed no significant improvement in terms of sanitation. I was shocked to discover that the rooms didn’t have phones, meaning I had to trek to the reception which was far from the room where i was staying for assistance instead of simply calling. This lack of basic amenities was surprising and inconvenient. Additionally, the electricity would frequently go off abruptly and take a while to come back on, disrupting not only my comfort but also the functioning of essential services. The Wi-Fi was terrible, making it difficult to stay connected or get any work done. The waitstaff often brought different items than what we ordered, and when I asked for tea, it arrived spilled on the saucer, making it unappetizing. The food service was also concerning; food was left unattended, allowing birds to grab it and contaminate it while flapping their wings and landing around the food area. This lack of hygiene raised serious health concerns, as I noticed flies and other pests attracted to the food stations. When we tried to escalate our issues by calling to speak with the manager, we were met with disappointment. Instead of addressing our concerns directly, they sent someone from the food and beverage team to handle issues related to the rooms, which felt questionable and inadequate. Overall, the resort truly lacks value for money, and my experience is a testament to that. I made friends during my stay, and when I shared the issues I encountered, I was surprised to find they had faced similar problems. Each time I complained at the front desk, I noticed several other guests expressing their frustrations about various issues, which was alarming. This led me to believe that the resort is plagued with problems and discomfort, making it a place to avoid.

My family and I were in Zanzibar over the December holidays with accommodation booked at ngalawa hotel and resort. I must say the place was breath taking from the entrance. Palm trees all around. It was family friendly which allowed for easy entertainment of kids, with I don't know how many swimming pools( yes they are that many😉😄😄🙄). It is away from the chaos of the city but very close to a lot of activities and tourist sites. There is an in house travel guide who helps with tour booking and yes covid test booking. The staff was amazing always available. Restaurant also on site. I can write a book about this place. Go see it yourself 😉

The staff here are amazing especially Mr Ginton (F&B manager) and MADAM Jane (general manager) we requested them and suggested them they did there best to serve and change the breakfast to our likings. The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions.”

Positives first - great staff, very clean and large rooms. Negatives - beach was not usable, the hotel is not in a tourist area and is right next to a local bar/club that plays ridiculously loud music every night until 1am

This is among the most refined and exclusive beach resorts you ll find anywhere! Just 17 beautifully appointed villas set in the most wonderful exotic gardens. The food is excellent and the chef will go out of his way to prepare whatever pleases you. All the personnel is helpful and delightful. We will definitely return! Zanzibar as a top tourist destination will take off thanks to hôtels of this level.

We had a great time at this beautiful property. Everyone was very friendly and excited to engage with us; the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very vibrant. The location is spectacular, peaceful and it feels very cozy. Peter, Tessy and Emmanuel at the bar were quick to help us and took a great care of us. June, Vanessa, Kezia & Megan at the front desk were so pleasant and welcoming. Israel and Alt( and his wife in security) - bellman, also Tonny & Raymond at the pool and Asia were great. Olivo, Solomoni and Juma at the restaurant; Chef Dominic Gomez made sure we knew all about the local dishes and the locally sourced ingredients of all the dishes on the menu. Juma was such a pleasure to have spent time with. He made our dining experience truly memorable!

It’s my first time in Zanzibar, I spent two nights at this hotel and a night in another hotel, all I can say is that this hotel is wonderful, rooms are clean, food is nice and above all the staffs are lovely, very friendly and helpful, I’ve been to many hotels in different countries but I can give a high thumb for the staffs of Toa hotel, The General Manager, Lucas that received me upon arrival and the best of all The Front Desk Manager ESTHER, thanks a lot for the hibiscus Juice the day I arrived and the last cup you gave me before I leave, you never knew but it’s my best and I’ll come back for it again in sha Allah. You gave me free wine lucky I don’t drink alcohol I had to return it back to you, thank you so much and I’ll recommend thousands to use your hotel if I have to and I’m sure you’ll never let them down. This is a little piece of paradise. The hotel is right on a beautiful beach and has a lovely infinity pool looking out to the ocean. The food is the best we had on the island. The owners and staff are lovely people they can’t enough for their guests, it really has a home from home vibe. The grounds are beautiful and the views when having your meals are breathtaking. Such a tranquil spot and the rooms are spacious comfortable and clean and the WiFi was great. I can’t fault anything about this hotel. Such a beautiful setting

新酒店，印度人投資的，環境很好，服務業比較熱情。包三餐的套餐，住了兩天，飯菜品質挺好，還不算重複。酒店前台可以安排出海到對面的半島海灘看日落，不過對面海灘需要付費，每人一萬先令，通常海灘有活動，表演等。酒店屬於休閑風格，安靜，整潔。 他們的總經理塞班先生很熱情，有個服務員Maxmillion，服務很到位，推薦品嚐他們的石頭城玫瑰葡萄酒。 另外，藉機會推薦一位當地的好司機，老家來自阿曼的默罕默德.阿里，人好，找的海灘去追海豚，看海星，浮潛等等，包船才30刀，前後三個小時，船長還贈送了水果，感覺服務很到位，自覺給了小費，很不錯的體驗。圖片裏有這個司機的名片，大家可以找他。

Every things are excellent and everybody are very pleasant, welcoming and always smiling. Kennedy, Edina, Peter, George Chef and all of them, without forgetting garden & housekeeping teams and Massaï people make the success of this paradise ! Les plus : La vue de l'entrée de l'hôtel est magnifique, surtout de nuit et le grand patio en bois qui abrite la réception est magnifique. Le parc est joli et bien entretenu. Les chambres sont spacieuses avec une belle vue sur la mer et les lits sont impressionnants par leur hauteur. Les salles de bain sont propres et le personnel est très gentil bien qu'ils ne parlent pas très bien anglais. Les moins : La piscine n'est pas très propre et devrait être mieux entretenues. Le personnel déguisé en Masaï alors qu'ils n'en sont pas. La nourriture n'est vraiment pas terrible (poisson trop cuit et viande très dure) mais le burger végétarien et les soupes sont bonnes. Les coktails, vraiment imbuvables. Difficile d'avoir des bons coktails dans un pays musulman et Zanzibar ne fait pas exception.

I highly recomend the hotel. We had a very nice room with a lovely view to the ocean. Very polite staff, food was delicious, everything was perfect. They take good care for the costumers, there is every day diferend kind of activities so it's never bored. I only missed a good espresso, but you can not find it in Zanzibar anyway.

We had a fantastic stay at Zanzibar Bay Resort and Spa, we used this hotel as our base to travel around the Island and to visit all the all the well known tourist attractions and many not so well known. The hotel staff were amazing super friendly and couldn't do enough to help and make our stay as good as possible. A special mention to the Animation Team who were smiles all day and never stopped providing fun, humour and an opportunity to see and try different things. We loved the Jetty Bar area, great way to enjoy a Sundowner. As per other reviews the beach is blighted by sea grass and the famous Zanzibar tides mean the sea goes out a long way, this did not impact us in any way, loads of amazing famous white sand beaches only a few minutes away either by taxi or the hotel shuttle bus. Ensure you bring sea shoes and you can enjoy the low tides and do some exploring in the bay. We found an amazing local guide (Eddie) who helped us get around and made our visit to Zanzibar all the more special, make sure you look out for him on the beach.
