If you've seen "Taipei 101 + the full city skyline" on Instagram, Xiaohongshu, or in travel promotional photos, many of those shots were taken from Elephant Mountain.

The greatest charm of Elephant Mountain is that you can see the entire Taipei 101 building and the cluster of skyscrapers in the Xinyi District from a slightly elevated vantage point.

We recently stayed at the Dinosaur Kingdom Family Room and transferred to a Premier Twin Room the following day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. We especially enjoyed the family room—it was thoughtfully designed and perfect for traveling with a young child. I had initially planned for a two-night stay in this room, but unfortunately, renovations were scheduled to begin the following day. This was a bit disappointing, as it made our time there feel quite short, especially with other activities already planned during our trip. In comparison to other five-star hotels we’ve stayed in, I did find the lack of flexibility with early check-in a bit surprising, particularly for the themed room. We had hoped to settle in earlier, and similarly, the following day’s transfer to the Premier room was not available early as it was fully booked. While this was different from what I’m used to, I do understand that this may be part of their standard protocol. On a positive note, we loved the buffet, and the rooms were very comfortable. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, and the playroom area was excellent—clearly designed with families in mind. It was also lovely to see the hotel organizing activities for children. During our stay, there was a special event (like a children’s appreciation day?), where me and my baby were able to participate in arts and crafts and even received small prizes, which made the experience extra memorable. The swimming pool was decent, though not very large, and the water was quite cold, so we ended up enjoying the bathtub instead. One area for improvement would be cleanliness. We noticed visible dust in the room, which was concerning—especially since the room is designed for small children, and for someone like me who is diagnosed with allergies to multiple types of dust mites. I did raise this with Lara at the lobby, who kindly apologized and mentioned she would inform housekeeping. However, upon transferring rooms the next day, I still noticed dust in certain areas, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning. Separately, I also observed that some toiletries (such as conditioner and lotion) were nearly empty upon arrival, suggesting they may not have been checked or replenished prior to our stay. Despite these points, we genuinely had a pleasant experience overall and would consider returning. I’m also excited and curious to see what the next theme for the family rooms will be after the renovations.

The room was very clean, and the front desk service was excellent! They gave us very detailed travel advice. It's also in a very convenient location for sightseeing, with Longshan Temple and Mengjia Night Market nearby. There are some affordable local eateries right next to the hotel, and getting to Ximending and other attractions is super easy. The only downside is that the room layout is a bit awkward, as the bed faces the main entrance directly. A floor-to-ceiling window design would make the room much more comfortable.

Then take Taxi to the hotel is very convenient. The cost only about 120TWD it’s depend on the traffic.The hotel a bit far from MRT station the nearest is Xiaonanmen and can walk to Ximending. Across the street they have Carrefour , McDonald, Starbucks. It’s quite convenient hotel.

From the moment we walked in, the place felt considered, elegant without being cold, warm without losing its polish. That balance is rare, and it set the tone for everything that followed. Traveling with kids changes what matters most in a stay, and this hotel understood that instinctively. My children felt safe here, genuinely safe, the kind of safe that let them run ahead in the lobby and laugh without me flinching. Security throughout the property was excellent, present but never intrusive, the kind of quiet competence that lets a family actually relax instead of staying on guard. The location did the rest. Close enough to walk to some of Taipei's best food, the kind of meals that turn into stories you tell later, and near enough to the city's main sites that our days felt full without ever feeling rushed. Every outing started and ended easily, which meant more time enjoying Taipei and less time managing logistics. Back at the hotel each evening, the rooms were spacious, immaculate, and quietly luxurious, the kind of space that makes you want to slow down. Staff treated our kids with the same warmth and respect they showed us, which matters more than most hotels realize. This wasn't just a comfortable stay. It was a beautiful one, the kind that makes you rethink what a family trip can feel like when everything, safety, comfort, location, care, comes together the way it should. We left grateful, and we'll be back.

“A Grand Stay to Remember” I loved my time at the Grand Hotel. It's rich in history and spotlessly clean, and the staff were kind and polite throughout. This is probably the most cost-effective hotel in Taipei. The room size is decent, but it's definitely showing its age. There was a stale, sweaty smell in both the room and the hallway. The executive lounge service was excellent, no complaints there. However, the front desk service on the first floor was absolutely terrible. An elderly lady couldn't hear what the staff member was saying, and the short-haired staff member repeated herself several times with extreme impatience, then threw things and rolled her eyes, which was quite disgusting. There were a lot of Japanese guests, and it was very noisy at night. The low service score is due to the front desk; the F&B and the executive lounge staff were all very professional.

Hotel Papa Whale in Ximending is a good, quiet, original hotel for short stays, a 7 minute walk from the busy streets and ”The Red House”. I got this room for 1.125 NTD a night. But make sure you ask for a ”Double Elegant Room” on the third floor. The room I was first given on second floor smelled damp. I did not try the hotel dining or breakfast but you can walk from inside the hotel straight into a Starbucks for breakfast. The rooms have a unique, rough but elegant vintage industrial look with good size wall mounted TV, comfortable beds and nice three piece bathrooms with good water pressure. The rooms are clean but have vintage wear with many original details. I would stay again.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful whenever I had questions. A useful tip for future guests is that Taiwan has reduced the use of disposable amenities for environmental reasons. Bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, comb, and other personal toiletries, as they may not be provided in the room. There are plenty of convenience stores nearby if you need to buy anything. There are many good food options within walking distance, including local ********* restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and night market snacks. Taipei Arena and nearby shopping areas are also worth visiting, especially in the evening. One issue I noticed was that the bathroom or toilet had a slight unpleasant smell at times. It would be great if the hotel could improve ventilation or perform more frequent maintenance to eliminate the odor. Everything else in the room was satisfactory. For Trip.Best, I think hotel rankings would be even more helpful if they included verified guest comments about cleanliness, noise level, bathroom condition, nearby transportation, and whether disposable amenities are provided. More accurate information about hotel promotions, nearby attractions, and special packages would also improve the booking experience. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at ILLUME TAIPEI and would consider staying here again because of its excellent location, comfortable rooms, and friendly service.

Front office colleague - Peiyu is the star. She checked in for us with welcome back note. She arranged rooms for us accommodating our request. She greeted us whenever we passed by the reception counter. Only the hotel will keep on calling you to leave room to check out which is quite irritating. Anyway Peiyu and the Room Attendant auntie is friendly and always provide top notch service. Humble house is a great choice

Pros: Big room and great location right next to public transit and ximending. Hotel lobby and dining looks nice and clean. Cons: carpets in hallways have really old, huge stains. We found a cockroach in our room around midnight crawling by the vents on the ceiling. We couldn't reach it so we tried to call reception and the phone was busy for a good while. We finally went down in person to ask for some help and they said they would send someone in 10 minutes. Half an hour later we checked in again and just asked for a new room at this point since the roach had crawled into the vents and we didn't know when it would come out again. They finally sent someone to our room while we were packing and sprayed the room with a liquid that supposedly kills roaches. He targeted the vents where we last saw the roach, and a few minutes later the roach came crawling back out. Luckily our guy was still in the room and he caught it for us. We decided not to change rooms since we were leaving soon anyway. Who knows if the roach had a family up in the vents or not. Hotel did not check on us or ask about our experience during checkout.

The hotel is a bit dated, which wasn't exactly what I had hoped for, but I was aware of it when making the reservation. Naturally, I would have preferred more modern facilities; however, the excellent service, convenient location, and outstanding breakfast buffet more than made up for it. The breakfast offered a great variety of hot dishes, fruits, and beverages, and the hotel is just a five-minute walk from the nearest metro station, making it very easy to get around the city. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely consider coming back.

I've never encountered such a poorly managed 5-star hotel; it's truly unacceptable!

Hygiene: There's a magnetic sticker on the door, so you can request daily cleaning. The housekeeping staff are incredibly efficient; the room was sparkling clean by the time I finished breakfast. Facilities: The room isn't small, and the window offers a view of Ximending street. It has a smart TV for screen mirroring, so you can watch Netflix and YouTube. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area. Disposable slippers are provided, but not disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, or shower caps. The soundproofing is good, but the air conditioning fan is too loud, even on the lowest setting. The breakfast menu changes daily and is mostly Western. Free drinks and snacks are available from afternoon to evening. Environment: It's right next to Ximen MRT Station, and there's a bus stop nearby that goes to almost all city attractions. Ximending is just around the corner, very lively at night with lots of food options. Downstairs, there's a Hello Kitty themed 7-Eleven, an Animate manga store, and a Family Mart. Service: The front desk staff are all very patient and enthusiastic, with excellent service attitudes. Free luggage storage is available. Overall, it's a great hotel. No weaknesses.

I have visited Taiwan four times, and each time I have chosen to stay at City Suites Taipei Nandong. Everything about this hotel continues to exceed my expectations—from the wonderful staff and convenient location to the cleanliness and overall hospitality. During my stay back in May, I accidentally left behind a pair of reading glasses. When I returned several months later, I asked about them, knowing that after so much time they might no longer be there. I spoke with Tiffany at the front desk and gave her a detailed description of the glasses. To my surprise and delight, Tiffany went above and beyond to locate them, and my glasses were found and personally delivered to my room! Service like this is truly impeccable and is exactly what makes City Suites Taipei Nandong so special. Tiffany demonstrated genuine care, professionalism, and outstanding customer service. One of the most pleasant stays we’ve had in Taipei! Fullerton is a great 4 star hotel that clearly beats some 5 stars hotels we’ve previously been in. Location is super convenient since close to Daan MRT station, the view on 101 is nice and the walk to there is super enjoyable. Room was super comfy, clean and cosy, and we were even offered a complimentary late check out which is always much appreciated. Free coffee machines and snacks are nice to enjoy in the beautiful lounge next to the lobby. Breakfast buffet is very good and has a lot of variety. After all the delicious meals we have in Taipei, it’s great to be able to exercise in the fitness room located on the 13th floor. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely come back!

I had an exceptional stay at Éclat Hotel Taipei. The room was immaculate and beautifully designed with high-end touches like a Dyson hair dryer and a Nespresso machine. The staff were incredibly attentive and professional, making the check-in process seamless. I also loved the location it’s in the heart of Da’an District, very close to the MRT and surrounded by fantastic restaurants and convenience stores. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Taipei!

The WET® outdoor pool and 24-hour gym are definite highlights for travelers looking to relax and unwind. Although some facilities show a little wear and tear from age, the professional and enthusiastic staff still make the stay feel incredibly welcoming.

A Serious Failure in Management and Guest Service I have never experienced this level of poor service and lack of management oversight at a hotel. Throughout my stay, I had to repeatedly request housekeeping, yet my room was still not cleaned as expected. More seriously, there was even an occasion when I needed to use the bathroom and discovered that there was no toilet paper available. I immediately brought this issue to the attention of the front desk. However, despite making a formal complaint, the exact same problem occurred again the following day. At that point, this could no longer reasonably be considered a simple oversight or an isolated housekeeping mistake. The hotel had already been made aware of the problem, yet nothing appeared to have been done to prevent it from happening again. The most disappointing part is that these issues continued until the day I checked out. After repeatedly reporting the same problems without seeing any meaningful improvement, I eventually stopped complaining simply because I no longer believed that doing so would make any difference. A hotel may occasionally make a mistake — that is understandable. What is unacceptable is failing to correct a problem after a guest has already brought it to management's attention. This reflects a serious breakdown in communication between departments, inadequate supervision, and a lack of accountability at the management level. Basic housekeeping and essential bathroom supplies are not unreasonable requests. They are fundamental standards that guests should be able to expect without having to repeatedly chase the hotel for them. What concerns me most is that the hotel appeared to have multiple opportunities to correct the situation, yet failed to do so. This suggests that the issue is not simply with an individual staff member, but with the way the hotel’s service operations are being managed and supervised. This experience seriously damaged my trust in the hotel and left me with a very negative impression of its overall management and service standards. A hotel’s reputation is built on how it treats guests, especially when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, the hotel failed not only to deliver basic service, but also to respond effectively when those failures were brought to its attention. I sincerely hope management does not dismiss this as a minor housekeeping issue. The repeated nature of these problems, combined with the lack of effective follow-up, represents a significant management failure and can seriously damage guest trust, customer satisfaction, and ultimately the hotel’s reputation. For me, the most disappointing part was not that a mistake happened. It was that the hotel was given multiple opportunities to fix it — and chose not to.

🥟 Din Tai Fung｜A popular must-eat at Taipei 101, but not Halal

When visiting Taipei 101, many Malaysian travelers think of Din Tai Fung.

Din Tai Fung is, of course, most famous for its xiao long bao (soup dumplings), but they also serve fried rice, steamed dumplings, shumai, beef noodle soup, and a variety of other Taiwanese and Chinese dishes.

Its biggest selling point is being able to watch the chefs make xiao long bao (soup dumplings) right in front of you. Plus, the restaurant is located within the Taipei 101 shopping district, making it perfect to combine with a visit to the observation deck and some shopping on the same day.

If you're not Muslim, it's definitely worth experiencing Taiwan for the first time.

However, Muslim travelers must take special note: Din Tai Fung in Taiwan is not a Halal restaurant.

The official Din Tai Fung Taiwan menu clearly includes pork ingredients, such as pork buns and certain types of shumai and dumplings; official ingredient information also lists pork. Although the menu also features options like chicken xiao long bao and vegetarian dishes, this does not mean the restaurant is a Halal-certified environment.

I highly recommend this hotel. All the staff are very friendly and lovely. The rooms are clean, and the hotel is spotless; every floor smells nice. Plus, there's a kids' club for children to play in, and they provide instant noodles and snacks anytime. We went as a family of three (parents and child) and asked for extra pillows, which the hotel promptly provided. On the day we left, we forgot our child's doll, and the hotel kept it for us. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

The location is super convenient too – there's a FamilyMart and 7-Eleven downstairs, as well as a foot massage place. Just a 3-minute walk from the hotel, you'll find a Sanrio-themed 7-Eleven, and right opposite that is the entrance to Ximen Underground Street. It's only a 9-minute walk to Ximending 'TAIPEI' - Rainbow Six. 🤩 Getting around by subway is also very convenient! 👍🏻👍🏻

There are two lifts for this hotel, thus the waiting time can be longer during peak hours.

📍 Location & Surroundings: The location is incredibly convenient, right near Taipei Main Station. The area is bustling with tons of options for food and souvenirs. However, it's worth noting that most places nearby are grab-and-go, so if you're looking for a sit-down restaurant, your choices might be more limited. 🎠 Unique Lobby & Family-Friendly: The reception lobby on the 4th floor is very unique, with a charming American retro and playful design, and it even has a kids' play area. The lobby thoughtfully provides free bottled water, hot and cold beverages, afternoon tea snacks, and various treats. The kids had a fantastic time playing here! 🛏️ Room Space & Design (A bit disappointing): The room space was smaller and more basic than expected. There was only one chair in the room, so if two people wanted to sit and relax, they had to take turns. Also, the room's design wasn't very practical; for instance, the desk wasn't facing the TV, making watching TV a bit awkward.
