There's construction on one side of the hotel, and the old windows don't close properly, so diesel fumes from the crane wafted directly into the bedroom. Not to mention the noise from the building work – imagine driving a car without air conditioning, stuck behind a diesel truck constantly spewing exhaust fumes. The result? A headache that required painkillers.
Luckily, Trip.com was great and got me a room change.
The mattress is very soft, so if you prefer lumbar support, you should reconsider. The family with kids next door was very noisy, and the front desk promptly moved me to another room. The transportation is very convenient, with the MRT station just a two-minute walk away.

Cleanliness: On the whole, it seemed okay, but the trash can didn't have a liner, so I had to put one in myself. I accidentally touched the window curtain and a lot of dust fell out, making us sneeze uncontrollably. The throw pillows and towels also had stains.
The location is a bit better, but it's a bit of a walk from Longshan Temple MRT station, and you have to pass by the train station. It's fine during the day, but late at night, you need to be mindful of the homeless people near the station.
Regarding service and facilities: The front desk staff seemed a bit impatient with foreign guests, though the older gentlemen were better than the younger ones. Also, the elevator is very cramped, and because the hotel has many rooms and guests, sometimes you have to wait a long time for an elevator. If you encounter a tour group, you'll be waiting forever. Stayed at the Regent for our 20 year anniversary. The room was very clean, perfect temperature, and they offered a welcome snack. There weren't any personalised welcomes unfortunately but the room was great. They no longer offer disposable bathroom amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton, combs, hair brush etc, you need to bring your own. We had the pleasure of enjoying Tai Pan Lounge. They are open 24/7 for tea and coffee but offer snacks during breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a specific period. We also enjoyed the spa. They don't have communal wet facilities, only in the room, so your time there is limited depending on the treatment you booked. They do have a health and fitness club in B3 though where you can enjoy such facilities at your leisure. We had our anniversary dinner at Robins Grill and it was perfect. Service was amazing, food was exquisite, and the vibe was so pleasant. Definitely coming back to Robins Grill, it was our second time there! The location of this hotel is great as is situated directly opposite Taiwan Station. Many undergone shops connected directly from hotel elevator. Within walking distance to shin kong mitukoshi mall and many eatery nearby the hotel.
On a side note - hotel running on thin manpower. Front office quite clearly shortage of staff and no proper direction which counter for check-in and check-out. Some of the staff onsite in suits does not marshal guests around. they simply stood there even the traffic was really heavy over the weekend.
From my observation, room service seems like manning with minimum manpower to serve and run a hotel with 400 rooms capacity. ?
Over in laundry room - for a designated hotel with 400+ rooms ＞ only has 1 washing machine and 1 dryer. This need to be improved. Everyone were queing and we need to run backforth many times. Remember hospitality industry is to serve with a HEART.

I’m surprised and happy that they allowed us to check in early and we did it via self service check in kiosk.
Hotel location is easy accessible within nearby metro and is also 2 station away from Songshan if you need to take a TRA to 九份. Surrounding with breeze mall and ikea right beside it and the best of all 7-11 mart is right in level 1 within the hotel without having you to walk all the way out if you need last minute supper or drinks.
As this is an eco friendly hotel, hence no mineral water is given but flasks are provided to fill water via their water dispenser near the lift lobby and not to forget their coffee are provided in capsule with coffee machine instead of packet.

Had a very pleasant stay overall! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the front desk staff were genuinely helpful and friendly throughout our trip.
However, the on-site laundry facilities were a bit of a letdown and felt misleading. The instructions suggested automatic detergent dispensing, but none was provided during our wash cycle — we ended up rinsing clothes in 70°C plain hot water, and they still came out smelling stale (needless to say, not ideal!).
The dryer was another issue: it has a ‘cool off’ period of about 6 minutes every cycle, interrupting the drying process. The room's cleanliness was decent, and the service was good. You can self check-in, and there's a common area where you can sit and use your laptop. I booked a standard room, and the space was alright. However, the main window faced the street, which was a night market, so the noise from traffic at night was very loud and affected my sleep. I only stayed here for one night, but overall it was a surprisingly nice experience. Personnel is really nice and welcoming, the room is well equipped, the bed is comfortable. The metro station and Shillin Night Market is really close, and everything else you might need. 🧭 Summary of the Taipei MRT Map – Why It’s a Game-Changer
After exploring Taipei from morning till malam every day, I can honestly say that the Taipei MRT system made my trip so much easier, cheaper, and more fun. 😄 I didn’t need to worry about expensive taxis, complicated routes, or getting sesat in a new city.
With the Taipei MRT map in one hand and my EasyCard in the other, I managed to:
- Catch sunset at Tamsui Old Street 🌅
- Relax in the Beitou hot springs ♨️
- Eat non-stop at Shilin and Raohe night markets 🍢
- Take the Maokong Gondola for tea with a view 🍵
- Hike up Elephant Mountain and snap pics of Taipei 101 📸
And all this was just a few MRT stops away!
The trains are clean, the stations are well-marked, and the connections are super smooth. As a Malaysian who’s used to crowded LRTs and complicated bus changes, I was really impressed lah. 🙌
