Taipei MRT Map – Taipei Metro Route & Station Map

Gambar Profil Penulis

Hey geng! 👋 I just got back from a makan-filled, bubble-tea-fueled adventure in Taipei, and I’ve got to say – one thing that made my trip super smooth was the Taipei MRT system. 💯

As a fellow Malaysian, I know what we look for:
✅ Easy to use
✅ Affordable
✅ Can reach all the food, shopping, and Insta-worthy spots without stress 🙌

And trust me, the Taipei MRT map became my best friend. Whether I was heading to Ximending for street food, Beitou for hot springs, or Taipei 101 for the city view, the MRT got me there – fast, clean, and on time. ⏱️

The best part? You don’t need to speak Mandarin to get around. Signs are in English, the maps are color-coded, and locals are super helpful (especially when they hear our accent – they know we’re from Malaysia lah 😄).

If you’re planning your trip to Taiwan, this MRT guide will save you time, money, and confusion – so you can focus on makan, jalan, and repeat. 😋🛍️

🏙️ Introduction to the Taipei MRT

source from https://english.metro.taipei/

If it’s your first time in Taiwan, let me assure you: the Taipei MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is one of the most tourist-friendly transport systems I’ve ever used. It’s reliable, air-conditioned (a must!), and signs are in Mandarin, English, and even Pinyin, so tak payah risau.

Why I loved it:

  • 🚆 Trains come every few minutes
  • 🧼 Stations are super bersih
  • 💳 Easy to use with a stored-value card
  • 🗺️ The MRT map is color-coded and easy to follow

Whether you're going shopping, sightseeing, or just lepak-ing at a local café, the Taipei MRT Map is your golden key. 💛

🗺️ An Overview of the Taipei MRT Lines

source from https://www.metroman.cn/

🔴 Red Line (Tamsui–Xinyi Line 淡水信義線)

Route: Tamsui – Xiangshan
Best For: Iconic sights, sunset views, hot springs & shopping

This was my most-used line! It takes you from the scenic north (Tamsui) to the city’s bustling shopping and skyscraper zones.

🚉 Must-Stop Stations:

  • Tamsui (淡水): Beautiful riverside walk, fried squid, street food 🌅
  • Beitou / Xinbeitou (北投 / 新北投): Hot springs & public baths ♨️
  • Shilin (士林): Massive night market with everything from XXL chicken chop to bubble tea 🍗🧋
  • Taipei Main Station (台北車站): Central hub for trains, MRT & HSR
  • Taipei 101 / World Trade Center (台北101): Insta-famous skyscraper, luxury malls 🏙️
  • Xiangshan (象山): Start of the Elephant Mountain hike with the best city views 🐘

📌 Pro Tip: Try to catch the sunset at Tamsui – super romantic & perfect for photos!

🔵 Blue Line (Bannan Line 板南線)

Route: Dingpu – Nangang Exhibition Center
Best For: Shopping, night markets, and transport connections

This line cuts straight through downtown Taipei and is a backbone for both tourists and locals.

🚉 Must-Stop Stations:

  • Banqiao (板橋): Shopping malls, transport hub to Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung
  • Ximen (西門): Street food, fashion, arcades – think of it as Taiwan’s Shibuya 🎮🛍️
  • Zhongxiao Fuxing (忠孝復興): Big SOGO mall and Japanese stores
  • Taipei City Hall (市政府): Shopping district & close to Taipei 101
  • Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館): Events, expos, and start of the Airport MRT

📌 Pro Tip: This line gets crowded during rush hour—plan your travel times if you prefer quieter rides.

🟢 Green Line (Songshan–Xindian Line 松山新店線)

Route: Songshan – Xindian
Best For: Culture, nature, and night markets

I loved this line for connecting historical sites and local food gems. It also gets you to riverside parks and some student-friendly neighborhoods.

🚉 Must-Stop Stations:

  • Songshan (松山): Raohe Night Market right outside the station – try the pepper buns! 🌶️
  • Nanjing Fuxing (南京復興): Interchange with Brown Line, great for shopping
  • Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (中正紀念堂): Beautiful square, history, and changing of the guard
  • Gongguan (公館): University area, cute cafes, bookshops, & cheap local eats 🍱
  • Xindian (新店): Nature, Bitan Suspension Bridge, and paddle boats 🚣‍♀️

📌 Pro Tip: Perfect for an afternoon that starts with culture and ends with a chill park walk.

🟠 Orange Line (Zhonghe–Xinlu Line 中和新蘆線)

Route: Nanshijiao – Luzhou / Huilong (Y-shaped)
Best For: Local life & exploring the less-touristy Taipei

This line was quieter and gave me a peek into the everyday lives of locals. Still very connected and worth a ride if you like venturing off the beaten path.

🚉 Must-Stop Stations:

  • Nanshijiao (南勢角): Local street food & markets
  • Daqiaotou (大橋頭): Dihua Street nearby – traditional Chinese medicine & fabric shops
  • Luzhou (蘆洲): Great for local vibes and temple visits
  • Zhongxiao Xinsheng (忠孝新生): Quick switch to Blue Line

📌 Pro Tip: Don’t underestimate this line—sometimes the best eats are hidden in these “local” neighborhoods!

🌈 Brown Line (Wenhu Line 文湖線)

Route: Taipei Zoo – Nangang Exhibition Center
Best For: Scenic views, animals, tea plantations & nature

This line is elevated (above ground), so the views are super syok if you like greenery and mountain backdrops.

🚉 Must-Stop Stations:

  • Taipei Zoo (動物園): Family-friendly, home to pandas 🐼
  • Maokong Gondola (connects from zoo): Glass-bottom cable car with views of Taipei—plus tea houses! 🍵
  • Technology Building (科技大樓): Great breakfast spots nearby
  • Nangang Exhibition Center: Transfers to Blue Line

📌 Pro Tip: Go early to Maokong for morning tea and quiet scenery—feels like you’re in Cameron Highlands!

💡 Tip: Don’t forget to get an eSIM for smooth internet access in Taiwan! It’s affordable and perfect for staying connected on the go.

🟪 Taoyuan Airport MRT (桃園機場捷運)

Route: Taoyuan Airport – Taipei Main Station
Best For: Airport transfer – fast, smooth, and luggage-friendly

There are two train options:

  • Express Train: Fewer stops, ~35 minutes
  • Commuter Train: More stops, ~50 minutes

🧳 Some airlines like EVA Air even let you check-in your luggage at Taipei Main Station—how cool is that?!

The Howard Plaza Hotel, what a grand and auspicious name! It boasts over 40 years of history and a prime location. The Taoyuan Airport bus (Dayou bus) even has a stop right by the hotel's side entrance. We booked a family room, which was spacious and included a delicious and varied breakfast. All the staff were warm, attentive, and provided excellent service. A special thanks to the bellhop, John Huang, for his thoughtful assistance.

We recently stayed at the Dinosaur Kingdom Family Room and transferred to a Premier Twin Room the following day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. We especially enjoyed the family room—it was thoughtfully designed and perfect for traveling with a young child. I had initially planned for a two-night stay in this room, but unfortunately, renovations were scheduled to begin the following day. This was a bit disappointing, as it made our time there feel quite short, especially with other activities already planned during our trip. In comparison to other five-star hotels we’ve stayed in, I did find the lack of flexibility with early check-in a bit surprising, particularly for the themed room. We had hoped to settle in earlier, and similarly, the following day’s transfer to the Premier room was not available early as it was fully booked. While this was different from what I’m used to, I do understand that this may be part of their standard protocol. On a positive note, we loved the buffet, and the rooms were very comfortable. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, and the playroom area was excellent—clearly designed with families in mind. It was also lovely to see the hotel organizing activities for children. During our stay, there was a special event (like a children’s appreciation day?), where me and my baby were able to participate in arts and crafts and even received small prizes, which made the experience extra memorable. The swimming pool was decent, though not very large, and the water was quite cold, so we ended up enjoying the bathtub instead. One area for improvement would be cleanliness. We noticed visible dust in the room, which was concerning—especially since the room is designed for small children, and for someone like me who is diagnosed with allergies to multiple types of dust mites. I did raise this with Lara at the lobby, who kindly apologized and mentioned she would inform housekeeping. However, upon transferring rooms the next day, I still noticed dust in certain areas, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning. Separately, I also observed that some toiletries (such as conditioner and lotion) were nearly empty upon arrival, suggesting they may not have been checked or replenished prior to our stay. Despite these points, we genuinely had a pleasant experience overall and would consider returning. I’m also excited and curious to see what the next theme for the family rooms will be after the renovations.

As a 5-star hotel, I don't think they should be promoting self check-in kiosks. A 5-star hotel should provide the expected service, not tell me to use a self check-in machine – I might as well book a 3-star hotel then. And if the self check-in machine wasn't bad enough, it even had problems. Check-in was supposed to start at 3 PM, but when I arrived at 4 PM, it said my room wasn't ready yet? Then I had to go back to the front desk to sort it out. If the machines are so unreliable, why not just let guests check in at the front desk? Furthermore, before checking in, I specifically requested a high floor, and the hotel even replied that for my room type, the highest floor available was the 29th, which shows they saw my note. Yet, upon check-in, I was assigned the lowest available floor, the 12th. I had to request a change again to get moved to the 18th floor – it's just speechless. And to top it off, I can overlook the lack of toothbrushes and toothpaste, but shouldn't a room at least come with two bottles of mineral water as standard? I know there's a water dispenser on every floor, but I'm a tourist. Do you expect me to carry a bottle around everywhere? There's a limit to how 'eco-friendly' one can be.

The hotel staff were all very welcoming. Ximending is nearby, and the breakfast selection is great. There are two MRT stations very close by, making it super convenient to get around. Across the street there's a Starbucks and a McDonald's, and on the street behind, there are local eateries.

It is one of the iconic hotels in Taipei with magnificent structure and views. However on the day of our check in, there was a kindergarteners graduation party. With 100+ children running and screaming in the lobby area makes me feel like I am in a fish market not an upscale hotel. If the Libby manager or Conceirge can step in to control the crowd, it would have been a better experience for me . The buffet restaurant has extensive selection of food and they all tasted great. The musicians at the lobby performed well during my stay and it wasa pleasure sitting in the lobby to enjoy the music. The secret pathways are pleasant surprises. But the tours are not for people with walking issues since participants needs to walk down 70+ steps to get a full view of the secret pathways. I highly recommend staying here.

We had an enjoyable stay overall. The hotel is in a fantastic location, the room was comfortable, and the breakfast offered an excellent selection. However, some service interactions at breakfast felt unnecessarily formal and inconsistent. We were reminded to lower our voices even though we had only spoken briefly after finding our children, while other guests who were noticeably louder were not approached. These interactions made us feel less welcome than expected at a luxury hotel. Overall, it’s a very good hotel, but a warmer and more genuine approach to service would have made the experience even better.

Great service and location, but an absolute nightmare of a stay Rating: 1/5 I booked this hotel for a one-night trip to Taipei for a concert—just me, alone, excited to see my idol. Unfortunately, the stay itself was a total nightmare. Let me start with the positives: the service is excellent—knowledgeable, quick, and polite. The location is also perfect, with a direct path from the Taipei MRT station to the hotel, and you can reach Taoyuan Airport in under an hour. There's even a water machine in the corridor, which was handy for getting hot water. But that's where the good ends. The hotel is shockingly old—worse than any dilapidated hotel in Hong Kong at a third of the price. For what I paid, I did not expect this level of neglect. I couldn't book a single or double room, so they gave me a room with three beds. I lay down on the first bed furthest from the window and soon felt itchy—I suspect bed lice. The other two beds near the window seemed fine, but that's already unacceptable. And the blankets were so thin I felt completely insecure—like there was nothing protecting me. The bathroom was a disaster. Hair on the wall, a small dark spot in the bathtub, and no hairdryer. The toilet barely flushed—I had to press the button multiple times, and the toilet paper just wouldn't go away. As for the shower—I've never seen anything like this in 40 years of traveling. Not even in mainland China hotels I visited as a kid with my grandparents. The knob was super loose and barely functional. Turning it to the hot water side did nothing—no water came out. Slightly turning the other way (still on the red hot side) gave only cold water. I could not get hot water at all. At breakfast, I overheard Japanese ladies complaining about the exact same issue. Unbelievable. There were also zero amenities. They hide behind ”eco-friendly,” but in Japan, you can still ask for supplies. Here, I didn't even have tissue paper in the room—I had to go back to the toilet to get toilet paper. I couldn't take a proper shower. I feel so dirty and uncomfortable. Truly a nightmare. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel is located near to the Zhongxiao Dunhua station (exit 3) and walking distance from Ming Yao Department Store, Taipei Dome, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. There are also many convenience stores within the vicinity and famous donut stores nearby. During our stay, we travelled by foot from the hotel to Pokemon Center Taipei, Taipei 101 and even to Linjiang Night Market.  The room is spacious. There are bathtub and shower in our room, but due to the law in Taiwan, please prepare your own toothbrush and toothpaste. There are also luggage weighing machine and coin-laundry machines in a small room on the floor where they serve breakfast. While not to expect a widespread of choices, I think their breakfast selection is a decent combination of local dishes and western options. Special mention that their pineapples are very sweet! If you are interested, you may also check out over the counter on the selection of local products that can be ordered and delivered to the hotel. It may save you trouble to locate some of the famous brands in Taipei. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Green World Zhongxiao.

The hotel is a bit dated, which wasn't exactly what I had hoped for, but I was aware of it when making the reservation. Naturally, I would have preferred more modern facilities; however, the excellent service, convenient location, and outstanding breakfast buffet more than made up for it. The breakfast offered a great variety of hot dishes, fruits, and beverages, and the hotel is just a five-minute walk from the nearest metro station, making it very easy to get around the city. An excellent stay! The room was very spacious, and the location was super convenient. It's just over 100 meters from Exit 1 of Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT Station, and only two stops from Taipei Main Station. Getting to Taoyuan Airport by express train takes less than an hour. There are multiple FamilyMart and 7-Eleven stores nearby, plus a Don Quijote. The hotel used to be a bank vault, so the decor is quite unique. They offer welcome drinks and a free snack buffet. It's only 500 meters from Fuhang Soy Milk and just 200 meters from Simple Kaffa, the world champion coffee shop, along with other cafes – all within walking distance. Huashan 1914 Creative Park is right next door. Overall, it's an incredibly convenient hotel. The soundproofing is decent; I slept well without much noise from the street or cars. I personally feel that this hotel is in a very 'local' area. How do I put it? It feels like living alongside ********* people, surrounded by their daily lives. It's a bit far from Taipei Main Station (over 1km), but about a 10-minute walk to Shuanglian MRT Station. 🧭 Summary of the Taipei MRT Map – Why It’s a Game-Changer

After exploring Taipei from morning till malam every day, I can honestly say that the Taipei MRT system made my trip so much easier, cheaper, and more fun. 😄 I didn’t need to worry about expensive taxis, complicated routes, or getting sesat in a new city.

With the Taipei MRT map in one hand and my EasyCard in the other, I managed to:

  • Catch sunset at Tamsui Old Street 🌅
  • Relax in the Beitou hot springs ♨️
  • Eat non-stop at Shilin and Raohe night markets 🍢
  • Take the Maokong Gondola for tea with a view 🍵
  • Hike up Elephant Mountain and snap pics of Taipei 101 📸

And all this was just a few MRT stops away!

The trains are clean, the stations are well-marked, and the connections are super smooth. As a Malaysian who’s used to crowded LRTs and complicated bus changes, I was really impressed lah. 🙌
