Universal Studios Beijing opened on 20 September 2021 in Tongzhou District, 30 km east of Tiananmen Square. Phase one covers 159.57 hectares. Seven themed lands hold 37 rides and attractions, 24 shows, 80 restaurants and 30 shops, with adult tickets from RM 243 (CNY 399). Where the resort is

The park sits between the East Sixth Ring Road and the Beijing-Harbin Expressway. Tiananmen Square is 30 km away. Beijing Capital International Airport is 40 km, Daxing 58 km. Three parts make up the site: the theme park, Universal CityWalk Beijing and two hotels. Walking from Hollywood at the entrance to Decepticoaster takes about 15 minutes, so plan the day by land.

Getting there with family or friends

A group changes the maths. Four adults splitting a DiDi beat four metro fares plus a taxi leg, but anyone pushing a stroller will prefer the train.

The metro route

Line 1 and Line 7 both terminate at Universal Resort station. Board the 15th carriage and you step off beside Exit B, with the Universal Studios Beijing security checkpoint directly outside the station doors. Line 7 saves you the change at Sihui if you are staying in the east. You need a transport card or a QR app, and the Beijing travel apps guide covers the Alipay setup.

Hailing a taxi

A metered taxi from downtown runs CNY 100 to 150 (RM 61 to RM 91), and DiDi lands in the same band outside surge hours. Ask for Universal Subway Station Exit F, then follow the tunnel to Exit B.

Arriving from the airport

Capital is 40 km away and Daxing 58 km, so neither is a quick hop after a red-eye. Our Beijing airport guide covers the transfers.

Opening hours and the best time to visit

The park opens at 10:00. Normal days close at 20:00, and the current October 2026 Halloween season runs to 22:00. CityWalk opens at 08:00 and closes at 23:00. Times shift by date, so check the official schedule the night before.

The seven lands, ride by ride

The park publishes height limits, not ages. Those limits answer the real question, and a 7-year-old who clears 122 cm rides everything except Decepticoaster while a tall 5-year-old still cannot board the Harry Potter headline ride.

Forbidden Journey mixes screens with physical sets and holds 60 to 90 minutes of queue on a busy day. Flight of the Hippogriff at 99 cm is the gentler alternative and lasts 60 seconds. Decepticoaster at 132 cm excludes most primary schoolers, and Battle for the AllSpark throws the car around hard enough that motion-sick adults should sit it out.

Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness is fully indoors and air-conditioned, which makes it the early-afternoon stop, and its 80 cm ride is the lowest barrier in the park. Mr. Ping's Noodle House averages CNY 80 (RM 49) per head. Minion Land adds a water play area and SING on Tour!, a seated show with no height limit.

WaterWorld Stunt Show seats more than 3,000 people and splashes the blue benches several times a day. Hollywood holds Lights Camera Action!, the stage show directed by Zhang Yimou and Steven Spielberg, and Nighttime Magic at Hogwarts Castle, which starts after dark and runs until close.

Where to stay inside the resort

Guests of both on-site hotels enter early through the VIP Experience entrance. That head start is worth roughly 45 minutes of queue, which on a busy Saturday decides whether you ride Decepticoaster at all.

The Universal Studios Grand Hotel stands at the park entrance, has Minion-themed rooms and runs 14 room types from CNY 1,300 to 14,000 (RM 793 to RM 8,537). NUO Resort Hotel is five minutes away, 470 metres from Universal Resort metro station, with 400 rooms from CNY 1,400 to 19,000 (RM 854 to RM 11,585). Both check in after 16:00, check out before 11:00 and roughly double their rates during Chinese public holidays.

This stay was absolutely fantastic! The hotel was spotless, and I loved that the disposable toothbrushes were already in the bathroom, no need to pick them up at the front desk. The room was spacious and well-designed. This is definitely my go-to hotel every time I visit Beijing! A special shout-out to the bathrobes and slippers – they were incredibly comfortable! Breakfast was still mostly Western, and aside from the milk, everything was perfectly to my taste!

I specifically came to Beijing for a US visa appointment and chose Air China Boyue Beijing Hotel because it's close to the embassy. It's only a ten-minute walk, so I didn't have to rush to catch a bus in the morning. The room has an old-school, retro vibe with wooden furniture and warm yellow lighting; it felt really atmospheric as soon as I walked in. The bedding felt substantial, and the pillow was just the right firmness. I was exhausted from traveling the day before, but I slept soundly until morning. The air conditioning, hot water, and hairdryer all worked perfectly – no issues with outdated equipment, which sometimes happens in older hotels. Cao at the front desk was very down-to-earth and patiently answered all my questions. Yang Dan even proactively reminded me of a good time to arrive at the embassy, being genuinely helpful. Overall, my stay at Air China Boyue Beijing Hotel was very reassuring. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I apply for a visa.

However, the customer service and the female front desk staff were quite subpar. They were unwilling to offer room upgrades or late check-outs, which was disappointing. I hope they improve, as it would be a shame to waste such a great location and the efforts of most of the other staff members.

The hotel is a bit old, and my room had no window, with a faint smell of smoke drifting in now and then. There was also a persistent, stale plastic odor in the room. These were the only downsides. The service, however, was genuinely excellent. The housekeeping staff were diligent, enthusiastic, and always ready to help. The same goes for the restaurant staff. The hotel's restaurant offered a rich variety for breakfast. The Napoleon cake, daifuku, and other cakes from Gongzhiwei Bakery were all incredibly delicious. However, it was a significant oversight that there was no timely notification or announcement about the hotel's swimming pool being under maintenance.

Parking is quite convenient, and the service is good too. After all, it's CTS (China Travel Service), they really know how to run things. You can choose from various pillows, like buckwheat, which is a nice touch. The ice cream and pasta at the Western restaurant are also delicious. I stayed here last month, and this time they upgraded my room when I rebooked – much appreciated! The breakfast view is nice; you can see the 3rd Ring Road from the window seats. However, the savory tofu pudding (doufunao) topping was sweet, which was inedible for me.

The Beijing New Otani Hotel is an established five-star hotel in Beijing, boasting a prime location near a subway station and a wide array of dining options, including Wangfujing. The hotel itself offers a buffet and a Chinese restaurant. Overall, the hotel is well-maintained. In our room, the shower had excellent water pressure and drained quickly. The bedding was soft, and most importantly, the service was exceptionally friendly. We were in a hurry to check out and accidentally left our charger and important cards in the room. Manager Wang Zhaofeng immediately helped us search for them, responding promptly and quickly sending us photos of the found items, which instantly put our minds at ease. She then arranged for expedited shipping to mail them back to us. This kind of heartfelt service, anticipating and addressing guests' urgent needs, is truly commendable. We visited the hotel's breakfast restaurant once, and the variety was extensive, with excellent taste, quality, and freshness. The restaurant service was also timely and enthusiastic, leaving us very satisfied, especially the excellent service from Runze and Xiao Cai Gege. The superior service from these staff members truly enhanced our stay.

The housekeeping lady on 8th floor was kind and always made sure to top up water and throw rubbish as I didn’t need my room cleaned everyday. The location was excellent and short walk and there’s a nice halal Lanzhou Beef noddle shop across the road and a fruit seller either outside the hotel or across the road in front of 7-11. A good spot to get some fruits after dinner.

The hotel was in a great central location. We loved the smart controls in the room which help with lighting and opening the curtains from the bedside. The rooms only downsides were a funny smell specific to our room from behind the fridge and the bathroom door which stuck so hard it needed to be pulled shut and made a lid noise when doing so, some oil should resolve this! Unfortunately when we arrived at 4:15pm from London our room was not ready which was very disappointing after a long trip. We had to wait another hour and go into the city to kill the time. Also everyone should note this hotel has one lift and no stairs, for a hotel with this many rooms this is simply not good enough. The staff use the same lift as does the cute delivery robot. This meant we spent way too much of our time existing for the elevator to down and up. Given we were on the floor above reception this would have been unnecessary if the stairs were accessible. This was a major issue for us and was the only thing that spoiled the stay. Other than this all was great.

This hotel left a fantastic impression on me. Its location is superb, just a one or two-minute walk from the Chongwenmen subway exit. There's a shopping mall right downstairs, making it convenient for shopping and dining. Attractions like the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, and Wangfujing are only about a 20-minute walk away. The lobby has a very chic, Shanghai-style concept, and the night bar is perfect for socializing and relaxing. The breakfast offered a refined and extensive selection of both Chinese and Western dishes, and there's even a separate bakery. The guest rooms were impeccably clean, and the mattress was just the right firmness, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. The latex pillows were the absolute best – I slept like a baby [smirk]. The staff were friendly and approachable, patiently answering all my questions about local attractions. The breakfast spread was rich and varied, with both Chinese and Western options, and the dining environment was well-organized. It's clear the hotel prioritizes guest experience; communication was smooth, and any minor issues were resolved immediately. The thoughtful and attentive service made me feel incredibly welcome. I'll definitely prioritize staying here again on my next visit to Beijing. Highly recommended! 👍🏻

It’s a very good hotel located in ideal location . It’s very near to forbidden city which is just few streets away. Many restaurants located nearby, like Si Ji Min Fu Peking Duck. You could get help from the hotel to get the queue number and waiting at the hotel room before your turn. It’s really save a lot of time. The daily breakfast was good , just that the serving plates or cups were found cracked or chipped , the hotel still use that for serving customers during breakfast .We were given free drink voucher and you gotta to get the voucher from the service counter daily. Free laundry and free robot delivery service . As there’s only one robot for food delivery to room, and during peak hour , you might need to go down to collect the food at the hotel counter yourself . And the room cleaning service is awesome and they helped us to clean the baggage and left us a message in sticky note when the job’s done. Kudos to the dedicated room cleaner. Many local Beijing snacks and cold drinks are served at the hotel lobby and they are free. When we’re checked out , we’re given a small free goodie bag to bring back home.

I chose this star-rated hotel for my business trip, and it absolutely delivered on luxury—the experience was fantastic. The location deserves a special mention; it's incredibly convenient for getting around. You can walk to Metro Line 1 and Line 5, making travel effortless. Just 50 meters left from the hotel entrance is a mall with so many shopping and dining options, it's hard to choose—all your retail and food cravings are easily satisfied. The room was an even bigger surprise. It was incredibly spacious, bright, and well-lit. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an amazing view; lying in bed and enjoying the scenery was pure bliss. The amenities were comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable. I slept like a log, straight until morning—it was incredibly refreshing. The breakfast was also noteworthy, with a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options. I was very satisfied every morning. I had such a pleasant stay these past few days that I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

This was my first time staying at the Park Plaza. We came because my child had an exam at the Academy of Arts and Design's attached high school. When we arrived, I didn't even realize there was a hotel next door. What drew us in was the parking lot we spotted as we drove by, and it was indeed very close to the school. The security guard at the entrance confirmed there was plenty of parking, and we were impressed to find both above-ground and underground spaces. So, we decided to book a room. The price was reasonable, not expensive at all, and the hotel had everything: a restaurant, breakfast, and a gym. Stepping into the lobby, it was bright, and a pleasant aroma filled the air, immediately giving us a holiday vibe and easing our nerves. The young lady at the front desk was incredibly warm and thorough during check-in. She double-checked our late checkout request multiple times to ensure it was fine. Knowing we were there for our child's exam, she even extended our checkout to 3 PM, which was a very rare and thoughtful gesture. Despite many students and parents checking in, it never felt crowded. The elevators were fast, room service was prompt, and the little robot delivering items was adorable and busy. The room itself was spacious and clean. The first night, the hot water in the bathroom wasn't very hot, possibly due to a high number of guests, but the bathtub was very comfortable, and the bedding was cozy. There was a slight creak when turning over, but it was acceptable. Staff were quick to respond to any extra requests. Parking was free after registering at the front desk. Overall, the value for money is good. I recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay.

Facilities: The kids' playground was a bit disappointing. One slide was under maintenance, and there was no trampoline, just building blocks and such – not much to play with. It was worse than what I expected from a family-friendly hotel's children's facilities. The pool was great and clean. The hot spring pools were also a lot of fun. However, the outdoor area only opens at 10:30 AM and the slides close around 5 PM. In Beijing's summer, it's impossible to play when it's at its hottest; you'd get roasted. And it closes before it even gets dark. It's a bit of a shame that we couldn't fully enjoy the outdoor slide pool. Cleanliness: Clean. Service: Very good and enthusiastic. Kevin, our butler, helped us solve all sorts of problems throughout our stay. Many thanks to him. Environment: Right next to Wanda Plaza, so no worries about food and drinks. It was very convenient. The hotel lobby bar was also good, with decent standards.

Waking up naturally to sunshine and birdsong each day, completely escaping the city's hustle and bustle, I truly embraced a slow-paced life of eating, strolling, and taking photos. It's a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle, and the hotel's decor and maintenance are quite good. Our butler, Bella, was incredibly meticulous and thoughtful, taking care of every little detail. She met all our needs, making our stay exceptionally comfortable. 2. There's a wide array of facilities and activities, including a mountainside hot spring, indoor pool, Hatha yoga, singing bowl therapy, a gym, and a kids' club. It's perfect for families, and the kids' club is large and newly renovated – it just reopened in May. It's definitely more fun than the kids' clubs at other hotels I've visited. Plus, children aged 4 and up can be supervised for free, which made my little one super happy! 3. The room key card came with a park map, showing hiking trails. There's an easy 5-kilometer mountain boardwalk, perfect for families, where you can visit the Eight Planets viewing platforms. 4. The breakfast was impressive! They had steaks, lamb chops, and a rich variety of both Chinese and Western dishes. However, the cured meats were generally a bit too salty. Cons: 1. For a 5-star hotel, there was no safe in the room. 2. While there's an abundance of kids' activities, most of them come with a fee. 3. Since the kids' club was newly renovated, the smell was quite strong, making my eyes and throat uncomfortable. Overall, we were still very satisfied. I imagine it would be even more atmospheric to visit in winter for the hot springs, though I expect it would be extremely crowded.

Housekeeping is prompt, and the staff are attentive and welcoming. 3. The duplex suite A is very spacious, perfect for families with elderly members and children. Kids, especially, will love rolling and crawling on the tatami mat. 4. Slippers and bath towels are replaced daily, and complimentary fruit is provided every day. 5. After checking out, I left my headphones in the room. The hotel proactively contacted me and arranged for them to be couriered to me, which I truly appreciate. Cons: 1. The room is very inconvenient for elderly guests with mobility issues. The main bed is on the second floor, making it difficult for them to go up and down. The first floor has a tatami mat, which makes it hard for elderly guests to get up and lie down. If they need to get up at night, they would definitely need assistance. 2. While the room is large, whether the Japanese wabi-sabi style truly suits Chinese guests, especially for a hotel charging 5,000 yuan per night, is a question that needs consideration. The wabi-sabi aesthetic often translates to very sparse furnishings: no comfortable sofas, no bedside tables, no bedside lamps, and certainly no central control panel for all lights and appliances. The tatami mat essentially means sleeping on the floor with a low table, making it very inconvenient and challenging to get up, sit down, or place and retrieve items, which clashes with Chinese living habits. 3. The private hot spring bath in the room only has one switch for hot water, making it impossible to adjust the temperature. Its size is also awkward; it's fine for one person, but feels cramped for two. For a room type designed for six people, such a small bath is quite inconvenient. Furthermore, the inner wall of the bath is made of solid wood, raising concerns about hygiene. 4. The smart toilet was broken and remained unrepaired even after reporting it. 5. The two bedrooms on the second floor, designed to accommodate at least four people, share a single small bathroom, which is a very impractical design. Additionally, the entire Gubei Water Town is not suitable for elderly visitors with mobility issues, especially those in wheelchairs. The flagstone paths are very uneven, and there are many steps, which would make a wheelchair ride extremely bumpy and uncomfortable.

I've lost count of how many times I've stayed at NUO Hotel Beijing. We've been coming here every time we visit Beijing since my child was very young! The breakfast selection was small but exquisite, and the service was excellent. There are many kid-friendly attractions around NUO Hotel, and the pool is also very clean. Among hotels in Beijing at a similar price point, the location and value for money are top-notch. We booked a twin room this time, and they combined the beds into a super-king, just like at Universal NUO – a big thumbs up! One minor thing: the walls in room 2023 were a little dirty. Hopefully, they can tidy that up if they see this review.

The room facilities were complete, the room was clean, the amenities were of good quality, and the resting environment was quiet and comfortable. The hotel is connected to Oriental Plaza, offering many dining and shopping options, which is very convenient when you return from exploring Wangfujing in the evening. Overall, the hotel's comprehensive strength is impressive. If you're visiting Beijing and want to explore the downtown attractions, this hotel is an excellent choice.

Finally, the room itself was small but had everything I needed. The overall living experience was still very good.

Traveling to Beijing alone for medical treatment, the Regent was fantastic! It's definitely the top choice for patients going to Peking Union Medical College Hospital; it's just a 5-minute walk, right across the street. My flight landed at Capital Airport at 10 PM, and I needed to take medicine late at night. The Hainanese chicken rice I ordered was deboned and delicious! They even rushed the order for me, and it arrived in my room very quickly. I specifically asked the front desk to wake me up at 7 AM and then again at 7:30 AM. They successfully woke me up for my 7 AM appointment at Xiehe (Peking Union Medical College Hospital), allowing me to be on time for my consultation. All the room service meals were delicious. Since I'd lost weight and was a bit weak, I didn't want to go out, so I ordered room service several times and was very satisfied. The food was great, so everyone can feel confident eating at the hotel! The male duty manager was excellent; he promptly explained and resolved a few minor unpleasant service issues. The front desk staff were also serious, responsible, and enthusiastic, which made for a very pleasant guest experience. The housekeeping auntie was also very warm and attentive to guests. The room service staff and floor managers were all very polite. Truly a top-tier InterContinental creation, the Regent! Worth coming back to!

I booked an Executive King Room, and the hotel upgraded me to a suite, which I then upgraded myself to their signature panoramic view room. The view was excellent, offering a 270-degree view from three sides, directly facing the bustling Sanlitun Taikoo Li commercial district. This is one of Beijing's most vibrant areas, with many events, such as the outdoor fashion week happening right downstairs during my stay. The hotel's location is superb, surrounded by malls, bars, and restaurants. There's a constant flow of people and traffic throughout the day and well into the night. The InterContinental Club on the 22nd floor offered morning tea and afternoon tea with fewer crowds and excellent service – even more welcoming and attentive than other hotels. The gym and swimming pool were both good and not crowded at all. The emotional value of standing by the window in the panoramic view room and enjoying the scenery was truly immense. The downside, however, is the price; I wouldn't have been able to afford it if the hotel hadn't given me a discount. Also, the electric curtains on the front and both side panoramic windows are linked, meaning that most of the time, to block out the view of the neighboring guest room from one side, the other panoramic curtain also has to be closed, which is quite frustrating. It would be better if they were manual curtains instead.

When I visited Universal Studios Beijing this time, after doing my research and comparing options, I chose NUO Hotel, and it turns out I made the right choice. Don't let the seemingly greater distance from Universal Studios Hotel deter you; it's actually just a five-minute walk across the street. The room was twice the size, the slippers were incredibly comfortable, and they provided ten small bottles of water plus one large bottle daily... I was truly impressed. I bought a package that included a two-day, one-night stay + double breakfast + 1.5-day park tickets + early park access. This was absolutely worth it. Buying the tickets separately would cost around a thousand yuan, and with early access, it would be about 1,500 yuan. Deducting the breakfast cost, the room itself was effectively only a little over a thousand yuan... and it was so comfortable that I even extended my stay for another day. The extended stay didn't come with complimentary tickets, though, and cost 2,700 yuan. If I had to point out a flaw, it would be how difficult the toiletries were to squeeze out. As someone who works in the skincare and personal care industry, I truly believe such product design shouldn't be found in a five-star hotel... What's going on? Are they trying to prevent guests from using them? The breakfast was unbeatable! I loved the smoked salmon. The restaurant offered a good variety, and the taste was excellent with high-quality fruit. Five-star rating!

This shows the hotel didn't clean the beds properly and needs improvement in this area. However, the hotel staff's service was excellent and very warm. My parents had trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi, and with just one phone call, staff came and stayed until it was connected and working. This deserves praise! Also, the hotel lobby features a piano solo in the evenings, which is a nice touch and should definitely be kept.

Once in the room, it really didn't feel like a hotel built in '09. The basic facilities were very well-maintained; perhaps the decor was a bit dated, but it didn't affect its usability. My favorite parts were the walk-in closet and the bathroom. My family and I really loved our stay at the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing.
