The first thing that surprised me when I visited? It's HUGE! In fact, Zoo Melaka is the second-largest zoo in Malaysia, covering around 54 acres. I honestly didn't expect it to be so big. You could easily spend 3 to 4 hours exploring and still feel like there's more to see. If you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend setting aside at least half a day so you can explore at a more relaxed pace without rushing. Whether you're planning a family day out, a casual date, or simply looking for somewhere fun to spend the weekend, Zoo Melaka is a great choice. 🐘 In this guide, I'll walk you through everything you need to know!

If you arrive at Zoo Melaka around 10:00 AM, I’d recommend making Crocodile Lagoon your first stop. The coolest part about this attraction is its transparent underwater viewing area. When the crocodiles swim above you, you can actually see them from below! The first time I saw it, I honestly found it quite impressive. It’s definitely one of the more unique experiences you won’t want to miss at Zoo Melaka. 🔥

🐘 Elephant Show

When you visit Zoo Melaka, the elephants are definitely one of the main highlights! 🐘 There are two elephant shows daily:

Before the show begins, you can purchase sugarcane for around RM5 per portion (approximately 5 stalks) and enjoy a fun feeding experience with the elephants. The elephants are very friendly and visitors can get a closer look, feed them, and even take photos as a memorable souvenir. 📸

After the elephant show, don’t leave just yet! Head over to the Elephant Aquatic Pavilion, which usually starts around 11:10 AM. Here, you can watch elephants swimming and playing in the water! 🐘💦

If I had to choose one of the most unforgettable experiences at Zoo Melaka, Monkey Island would definitely be on my list. 🐒 Just a small heads-up! Monkey Island is located further away from the main zoo area, and you’ll need to take a boat ride to reach it. The monkeys here are also extremely playful and energetic 😂. They are not shy at all, sometimes they may jump onto your shoulders or get very close when you arrive!

It’s definitely a unique experience, but remember to follow the staff’s instructions and keep your belongings secure!

🚙 Buggy Tour (Recommended for Families / Elderly Visitors)

Zoo Melaka

Since Zoo Melaka is quite large, walking around the entire zoo can be tiring, especially for young children or elderly family members. That’s why I highly recommend trying the Buggy Tour if you want a more comfortable way to explore. 🚙

The buggy ride costs around RM100 per buggy and brings visitors to several key areas around the zoo. Along the way, you can hop off to take photos, feed animals, and learn more about them from the driver’s explanations. Trust me, with a zoo this big, having a buggy ride can really save your energy and make the whole experience much more enjoyable! 😊

Had a nice stay at Hatten Hotel overall. The room was comfortable and the breakfast had quite a good selection, so there were plenty of choices. When I first arrived, the TV remote wasn’t working, but I called the staff and they came over to fix it quite quickly, so that was appreciated. The only downside was the check-in process. It was really slow and I had to wait for more than 30 minutes before getting my room. Other than that, everything was good and I enjoyed my stay.

This hotel exceeded my expectations in the best way possible! Being right on the Malacca River, Malacca quickly became my favorite stop on this Malaysia-Singapore trip, and my stay at The Majestic Malacca definitely played a huge part in that. You can see the hotel's facilities in the pictures, so I'll focus on the experience. As soon as we entered, a staff member took our luggage. While waiting for our room key, we were offered tea and adorable little cookies. The front desk staff even escorted us to the elevator, and our luggage was delivered directly to our room. The hotel breakfast is à la carte, freshly prepared, not a buffet, which made it feel like a five-star dining experience. The service was incredibly attentive; they always thoughtfully asked if we needed anything else and offered suggestions. One young man, in particular, was very sharp; he suggested I try mixing orange juice and guava juice half and half, and it was a truly unique and delicious flavor! It's a shame we didn't bring our phones to breakfast, so we couldn't take any pictures. Next time, I definitely want to try the hotel's dinner; I heard the chef is quite renowned. All in all, I absolutely loved Malacca, and I'll be staying at The Majestic again next time.

Is a studio room and is big enough and have balcony too. Nearby have many restaurants, pub and convenience stores. There is also many facilities like gym, swimming pool and sauna. Close at 10pm I going to use the sauna but I saw a huge cockroach so the cleanliness is a bit… And sometimes during midnight you will still heard mat rempit sound

I booked a 1-night stay in their Lux King Ocean Room at The Lisbon Melaka as I read that it’s a new international hotel that opened a year ago. The room feels very cozy when I entered. The fixtures were still new and the beds were comfortable. It’s come with a smart TV which is a plus point in this day and age. Though it will be better if the TV is slightly bigger as it’s only 32”. The balcony was dismal and the ocean wasn’t that therapeutic and was partially blocked. The breakfast buffet was a letdown as well. There wasn’t much options for selections though the hotel was proclaimed as a 5 star luxury hotel. For the room rate at about RM$337 on a weekday, it’s definitely on a higher side. I think likely also due to low occupancy. Throughout my stay, the hotel was fairly empty and not many rooms were occupied. The courtyard area was really nice, which elevates the resort feel. The pool and gym nearby was really small. So I did not use the facilities. The spa room wasn’t tenanted out too. There was no lift as well, definitely not user friendly for the elderly. Staff Shamirul and other guest relations personnel were polite too. Same applies to the security which offers good service. Will I return, it’s very unlikely.

Positive : Good location, good price, I booked twin room , room and bathroom size just nice for 2 guess. negative: hotel looks a bit run down, bathroom no lock .. which is a bit inconvenient when travelling with friends, the escalater not working, the corridors to the room so dark at night, they off the lights to save the cost but feel a bit unsafe as lady traveller , front dest guys was not friendly at all... i just asked a bit earlier 2.30 check in , he answered so rude .. hotel reception mean need to smile at least even if the answer is no .. actually its weekdays and the entire hotel only a few guests..can give.. i hv many hotel give at 2 pm if room available.. i hate the hotel doesn't give early check in but strictly mk early check out even not super low season.. and this hotel is only 3star level .. its not 4 star .. but the swimming pool is good

Very comfortable hotel with a pool, suitable for kids. Great location near the River Cruise jetty, and walking distance to Dataran Pahlawan along the riverside path. Beautiful views... worth it. Shops, especially Speedmart99 and Mamak Sri Sahabat, have really delicious and affordable food. The staff, from top to bottom, are all kind, friendly, and welcoming. You should definitely stay at this hotel... it's worth it. I stayed 1 night, then extended to 3 nights! 😆😆

The room was spacious and comfortable and the location was quite good . Very convenient to travel around and explore area. The only one thing disappointed us that experience during check out. We had informed the front desk in person as we needed a late check out till 2pm and then had paid RM50 for it . The front desk took our keycard and room number to update after payment. So Despite this , around 1.15 pm , one of the hotel staff come to our room and rang the bell to tell us that it’s already over the check out time . We feel that the staff should have checked their system or confirmed with the front desk before coming to our room and inform us we exceed the check-out time. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay there and liked the spacious room and convenient location.

Overall, I'd give it a 4-star rating. The hotel environment is relatively quiet, and it's quite convenient for dining and shopping nearby, making for a pleasant regular stay. However, some of the surrounding streets seem a bit deserted, with many shops closed even during peak hours, which makes for a less than ideal walking experience. Personally, if your main purpose is sightseeing, I think staying in the southern part of Malacca, closer to the beach and main attractions, would be more convenient.

The rooms are set up to a standard, which is really good. There's also staff at the front desk who speak Chinese, and the hotel's laundry service is very efficient. In terms of location, it's just a few minutes' walk to the Dutch Square (Red Square) and Jonker Street, which is super convenient. The surrounding amenities are also great, and it's relatively quiet at night, making it a good choice for those with light sleep.

My stay at The Pines Melaka was absolutely perfect! The location is excellent, making it super easy to get to Jonker Street by taxi. Plus, there's a convenience store right downstairs, which is great for grabbing food or anything else you need. The room was spacious and clean, the bedding was comfortable, and it had all the amenities, with a pretty nice view too. The front desk staff were warm and efficient, making check-in and check-out quick and seamless. The hotel also has a pool, a quiet atmosphere, and a wide variety of breakfast options. Overall, it offers great value for money, perfect for both family trips and independent travelers. I'd definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Melaka. Highly recommended!

a great budget hotel find for anyone looking for a comfortable stay without breaking the bank. the room was really cozy. got upgraded for a bigger room for f.o.c and it came fully equipped with a tv, iron and kettle nor mineral water. as a muslim travelers, they also provide a clear qibla direction sticker. the aircond was superb too, really cold and perfect for a good night's sleep. the bathroom was the best part, it was clean and the water pressure was really strong which makes showering so refreshing plus most importantly, it has a bidet hose, which is a huge plus. the elevators are okay so no long waits. the staff are very friendly and welcoming also theres plenty of parking space, not to worry about finding a spot for parking. hotel location very strategic & located in the middle a city & convenience store for restaurants, i have to walk a little bit, but it’s a manageable distance. one minor downside, the room soundproofing isnt the best, i can occasionally hear noise from the hallway or outside the room. if youre a light sleeper, you might want to take note of that. overall i highly recommended for those who want comfort on a budget

Nice environment and convenient location, about 5 minutes from Jonker Street. Plenty of parking right in front of the hotel. The disappointing part was the parking. We attempted to pay using both the MBMB app and Touch ’n Go, but encountered system errors and were unable to complete the payment. Unfortunately, we only discovered after checkout that we had received a parking summon. Since the hotel does not provide dedicated parking, it left a rather unpleasant ending to an otherwise enjoyable stay.

This was my first time staying at Babahouse, and I really loved the concept and traditional style of the hotel. From the moment we arrived at the lobby, we were warmly greeted and welcomed with a complimentary drink coin for the entire stay — 1 coin per person, per room. Since we had 2 rooms for 2 days, we received 4 coins in total. A nice little touch that made us feel welcomed. When we entered our rooms, they were generally clean, tidy and comfortable. However, in one of the rooms, we noticed some mould on the towel and also on the bed. We understand that this can happen if a room has been unoccupied for some time, especially with the humid weather. We also noticed that only some of the room windows have coverings, which may contribute to the room condition. Hopefully, the management can pay extra attention to this. The weather outside was extremely hot, with no rain for the whole week, so the first thing we did was turn the air-conditioning on full blast! We also tried the gym and really enjoyed it. Although the gym is small, the space is sufficient for a simple workout. They also provide towels and drinking water, which is very convenient. Around the hotel, there is Rumah Kechik Café and also a hidden bar on the side, which adds to the overall charm and experience. During our stay, we didn't drive around much. We mainly went out to Jonker Street and simply walked from the hotel. It was easy and convenient, and it also saved us time from dealing with traffic and finding parking. Overall, I really enjoyed my first stay at Babahouse. I love the traditional concept, atmosphere and location. With a little more attention to room maintenance and cleanliness, I believe the experience could be even better. Definitely a place I would consider staying again when visiting Melaka.

Had a short 1 night stay, last min booking. Main reason I choose to stay here is due to availability of parking. TV is a Google TV that can play any media via USB, if you have one. WiFi in the room is complimentary for guests, but speed wise is not the best, I ended up using my mobile data for better experience. Hot water is consistent and pressure is good, however the room I stayed in had an issue with the drainage which makes you stand in a puddle of water while showering. They provide toothbrush and shaver, which is good. However, if you need to use their iron, they only provide the basic iron without steam function. Not ideal for business travelers, lucky for me my shirt already ironed from home. What I don’t like about the room is they don’t have master switches on the bedside for you to switch of the lights. The master switches is located at the wall near the keycard insert. Breakfast starts at 7am the earliest, and the choices are okay. Their teh tarik is good though. But their room rate is really competitive, so can’t complain much for the price paid.

This hotel definitely has a lot of character. Let's start with the positives: the lobby is absolutely stunning, steeped in history, and truly a sight to behold. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of unique fruits and dishes. The dining area itself was comfortable, cozy, and elegant, making you feel like you're dining in a historical masterpiece. Now for the downsides: the hotel is quite old, and the facilities and equipment are showing their age. The bedding was also not up to par; the duvet in our room was stained with what looked like blood, and we had to call someone to replace it. The soundproofing in the rooms is poor. While being on Jonker Street is convenient for exploring, it also means traffic jams every time a vehicle tries to enter, making getting in and out a bit of a hassle. If you prioritize unique character and historical charm, this hotel might be for you. However, if quality and attention to detail are your main concerns, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

The apartment was great, very new and clean. It even came with water dispenser which was really helpful in the hot weather and we didn’t have to buy bottled drinks. Very spacious. We really loved the room. Very suitable for multi day stay. Big pool. Cons: The location is just opposite mahkota parade but we could not cross the highway with elderly and children. Grab is RM5-12. But takes a long time to come. Swimming pool is a little dirty. If you arrive early or leave late like us, lack of luggage deposit was quite stressful for us.

Perfect location, but overpriced for its current condition The location of Sunday Malacca is absolutely great—right in a prime area with plenty of restaurants just steps away. However, the hotel is older and feels overpriced for its current state. I noticed mould on the ceilings and heavily stained carpets in the passages. They are currently undergoing renovations, and the staff are clearly trying their best, but management should lower the price until updates are complete. I could only overlook the wear and tear because the location is so convenient. Wifi also needs upgrade connection issue very unstable.

The room does not have a refrigerator, which can be inconvenient for families traveling with young children, as we need a place to store snacks, milk, or baby food. There were also quite a few mosquitoes around the property, so bringing insect repellent is a good idea. Lastly, it would be helpful if the hotel could provide a laundry bag in the room. Overall, my stay was quite good, and the location is excellent ✨. However, there are a few areas where hygiene could be improved. I noticed a clear yellow stain in the toilet upon check-in, and I hope the hotel pays more attention to cleanliness. Additionally, I had the 'please clean my room' sign on, but when I returned, I found that the staff had placed my pajama pants on a damp small towel, and the old towels hadn't been removed. While I understand placing clean towels on the bed, I found it hard to accept that the foot mat and new clean towels were placed together. I hope the hotel can improve staff awareness regarding hygiene when handling towels and guest belongings. Despite these minor issues, I would still be willing to stay here again in the future. Swimming pool- located on the same floor. Taman Kota Laksamana is 2-3km away. You can get fresh produce such as fish balls, fish cakes, noodles, seafood, and cook it in your unit. My humble opinion- guidelines for check-in could have been sent a few hours earlier or 6 hours before check-in. I had difficulty to read the steps indicated in PDF while driving. I received it at 13.47. Also please be responsive to calls. No one pick up the call and reply to our messages sent through WhatsApp .

The concierge staff was very kind and helpful. The restaurant managers offered great services for my breakfast and catered to our needs and preferences. The first picture shows the hotel exterior, taken from across the street. The interior matches the product description. We stayed in a family room with one large and one small bed. The hotel isn't brand new, but the staff were very friendly. It's easy to get a taxi from here; it's not far from the Red Square or the Melaka Straits Mosque, but a taxi is still the most convenient option. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs, which is really handy. Jonker Street has a night market from Friday to Sunday evenings, which is much livelier than during the week. If you're visiting, I'd recommend going on a weekend for a more authentic experience.

Breakfast provided are breads, eggs, cereal and oranges. Good for a light breakfast. I would consider staying again because the location is very near to the jonker street. This hotel boasts an excellent location, just a short walk from Jonker Street in Malacca, making it incredibly convenient to get around. You can even drive right up to the hotel entrance. The lobby is small and cozy, with the breakfast area located right behind it. Each room includes breakfast for two, and you need to choose your meal options the day before. Our reserved room was spacious, but the bedding was a definite letdown: the comforter looked old, yellowed, and dark from repeated washing, which was quite off-putting. Furthermore, I was bitten multiple times during my stay; three consecutive bites on my left leg on the first day, and another three on my right leg the next. It's been five or six days, and the bite marks still haven't faded. AI suggests these are very likely bed bug bites, although no one else in my family was bitten, so I can't be entirely sure. What I can confirm is that they weren't mosquito bites. The coffee machine in the room was faulty, but the staff promptly replaced it after I called the front desk, which was commendable. On a side note, there are two small, reasonably priced restaurants directly opposite the hotel. They offer good value for money if you want a satisfying meal on a budget, and a great alternative to the overpriced and mediocre options on Jonker Street. Just be aware that these places close at 4 PM, so they aren't suitable for dinner. Objectively speaking, this hotel was the least value-for-money stop on our entire trip. Its main selling point is its exceptional location, which might be the only reason to stay, as there aren't many other choices. Overall, the experience was just average.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations. I'd previously stayed in 4-star and 5-star hotels in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, so I assumed this one in Malacca, being so incredibly cheap, would be just average. But it turned out to be the kids' favorite! The receptionist, who appeared to be Muslim (definitely not Chinese), was helping me check in using English. To my surprise, as soon as I handed over my passport, she started speaking in Chinese – a very pleasant surprise! We booked a suite with a king-size bedroom, a twin bedroom, a living room, and two bathrooms. The room was huge, clean, and tidy, with three windows providing great natural light. The location is excellent; it's about a ten-minute walk to the Stadthuys and Jonker Street. It's also roughly a ten-minute walk from Dataran Pahlawan, where we arrived by bus from Singapore. You can walk straight from the bus stop to the mall, and there's a money exchange on the first floor. Although there's no breakfast included, Dataran Pahlawan and Jonker Street have plenty of dining options close by. Every restaurant in Malacca is both delicious and affordable, and 源记茶室 (Yuen Kee Coffee Shop) has a nice ambiance and great food. The fragrant coconut water is also a must-try!

This is a wonderful hotel where you can really feel the Baba Nyonya culture, right down to the furnishings in the public spaces, the lanterns, and the tapestries. The location is fantastic – you can easily walk to Jonker Street, Dutch Square, and even Sentosa Village along the riverside. Plus, it's set back one street from the main thoroughfare, so it was much quieter than I expected. The room was spacious, and the water pressure and temperature in the bathroom were perfect. When I had an issue with the room light, I contacted the front desk and they resolved it immediately. Minor drawbacks (if I had to point them out): * I booked an Advantage Room but there was no coffee machine. (Though I ended up drinking fresh juice from the drink stand so much that I didn't really need one anyway). * The shower room seemed like it hadn't been used in a while, and the cleaning was a bit subpar. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay. If I ever visit Malacca again, I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel.
