The first thing that surprised me when I visited? It's HUGE! In fact, Zoo Melaka is the second-largest zoo in Malaysia, covering around 54 acres. I honestly didn't expect it to be so big. You could easily spend 3 to 4 hours exploring and still feel like there's more to see. If you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend setting aside at least half a day so you can explore at a more relaxed pace without rushing. Whether you're planning a family day out, a casual date, or simply looking for somewhere fun to spend the weekend, Zoo Melaka is a great choice. 🐘 In this guide, I'll walk you through everything you need to know!

When the crocodiles swim above you, you can actually see them from below! The first time I saw it, I honestly found it quite impressive. It’s definitely one of the more unique experiences you won’t want to miss at Zoo Melaka. 🔥

🐘 Elephant Show

When you visit Zoo Melaka, the elephants are definitely one of the main highlights! 🐘 There are two elephant shows daily:

Before the show begins, you can purchase sugarcane for around RM5 per portion (approximately 5 stalks) and enjoy a fun feeding experience with the elephants. The elephants are very friendly and visitors can get a closer look, feed them, and even take photos as a memorable souvenir. 📸

After the elephant show, don’t leave just yet! Head over to the Elephant Aquatic Pavilion, which usually starts around 11:10 AM. Here, you can watch elephants swimming and playing in the water! 🐘💦

If I had to choose one of the most unforgettable experiences at Zoo Melaka, Monkey Island would definitely be on my list. 🐒 Just a small heads-up! Monkey Island is located further away from the main zoo area, and you’ll need to take a boat ride to reach it. The monkeys here are also extremely playful and energetic 😂. They are not shy at all, sometimes they may jump onto your shoulders or get very close when you arrive!

It’s definitely a unique experience, but remember to follow the staff’s instructions and keep your belongings secure!

🚙 Buggy Tour (Recommended for Families / Elderly Visitors)

Since Zoo Melaka is quite large, walking around the entire zoo can be tiring, especially for young children or elderly family members. That’s why I highly recommend trying the Buggy Tour if you want a more comfortable way to explore. 🚙

The buggy ride costs around RM100 per buggy and brings visitors to several key areas around the zoo. Along the way, you can hop off to take photos, feed animals, and learn more about them from the driver’s explanations. Trust me, with a zoo this big, having a buggy ride can really save your energy and make the whole experience much more enjoyable! 😊

Friendly staff throughout the hotel. Check in and out was smooth, although there was a queue for check in, probably as it was a long weekend. Very accomodating to.our requests (we had a total of 6 rooms). Room was clean with usual amenities. Good water pressure and cold aircon, except for one room which was at the end. That one was a bit warm so suggest don't take end rooms unless you get cold easily. Walking in you'll find a mini sitting room with a couch & tv. Partial glass partition between this and the bedroom. Breakfast was alright, quite a big space and nicely done up. Appreciate that the mains were double sided so people were spread out. A bit slow on the plate clearing but understood it was a busy period. This is a non-smoking hotel so if you need to smoke will have to go to front of hotel or to the 9th flr car park. There's a 7-11 on the ground floor as well as a nonya restaurant and a 'kopi tiam' sort of eatery with nice nasi lemak. Overall it was a pleasant stay and would consider staying here again.

This hotel absolutely deserves a full five-star rating for its location, service, and ambiance! Upon arrival, the front desk thoughtfully offered a smoothie and a cold towel, instantly refreshing us from the scorching travel heat. After check-in, a staff member personally escorted us to our room, and we even received meticulous turndown service in the evening – a truly excellent experience. The location is also impeccable. Directly across the river is the famous Dutch Square (Red Square), and it's only about a 200-meter walk to Jonker Street and the night market, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. What surprised me the most was discovering, while looking through old photos, that I had unknowingly captured this hotel in a picture way back in 2012 when I first visited Malacca. To reunite with it years later as a guest feels like a rare and wonderful serendipitous encounter. Highly recommended!

Room is new, clean and spacious, but it doesn’t really give a hotel feel, more like service apartment. Toilet could use a proper shower screen to avoid it being wet after shower. Water pressure was quite low also. Breakfast spread was fine. Didn’t use the facilities. Overall, it was ok for the price.

This was our fifth stay at this hotel, and unfortunately, this time was very disappointing. 1. Check-in The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were polite and welcoming. I had requested a Queen Bed room instead of Twin Beds. However, I was informed that because my booking was made at the last minute (one day before check-in), only a Twin Bed room was available as all Queen Bed rooms were fully occupied. We accepted the explanation and proceeded with the room provided. 2. Room Condition Upon entering the room, the first issue we noticed was the air conditioning. Despite setting the fan speed to high, the room remained warm and the air conditioner was not cooling properly. 3. Bathroom There appeared to be a blockage beneath the sink, as water was pooling around the sink and toilet area. In addition, the shower holder was broken while we were using the shower. We chose not to complain and continued our stay. 4. Room Door & Bathroom Door The bathroom door could not be closed properly unless it was pulled and pushed firmly. The more serious issue occurred the next morning after breakfast when our room door became stuck and could not be opened. We contacted maintenance, and the team arrived to inspect the problem. From approximately 8:00 AM onwards, we were unable to access our room. Around 8:30 AM, the maintenance team requested approval from the Front Office to move us to another room because the repair would require additional time. However, they informed that changing rooms would incur an additional charge because we were checking out on the same day. I strongly disagree with this decision. From 8:30 AM until our checkout time at 12:00/12:30 PM, we were still paying guests of the hotel. The room issue was caused by a defect on the hotel’s side, and guests should not be charged extra to move rooms due to problems beyond their control. The Most Disappointing Part During check-in, we were informed that no Queen Bed Deluxe Rooms were available. However, while the maintenance team was accessing our room through the connecting room next door, we discovered that the adjacent room was vacant and equipped with a Queen Bed. If the actual reason was that the room was unavailable due to maintenance, it would have been more professional and honest to explain that from the beginning rather than simply saying all Queen Bed rooms were fully occupied. This experience has left us very disappointed. Every time we visit Melaka, this hotel has always been our preferred choice. However, after this stay, we have decided not to return. I appreciate the hospitality shown by the staff during check-in, but I sincerely hope the hotel will improve both its facilities and service standards. Thank you.

This hotel sits in a mall. It is situated very conveniently, walking distance to Jonker St and other food places. The Melaka river flows along it and get for taking walks. The amenities provided are bath towels and floor towel. No face or hand towels; provides toothbrush and toothpaste. No shower caps. There is no daily room cleanup though they will upon request. Actually, you need to request for any top u or add ons eg water, soap. No cable TV. Breakfast i think is good calue for money. You can take the lift to top of the hotel and have a bird's eye view of Malacca. (43fl) Service is acceptable. My TV could not get some channels. The service man came quite quickly but could not quite solve the problem. But i enjoyed my stay as though the room was quite spartan, it had sufficient for a simple stay.

The hotel tried its best, but it has definitely seen better days. We entered a room that was clean, and the beds were made perfectly. I had requested adjoining rooms on a high floor, and both requests were accommodated, which I appreciated. The fridge and phone in our room were not working, but it wasn’t a big deal—we simply used the adjoining room’s. However, I would have been quite annoyed if we hadn’t had the adjoining room to fall back on. At around S$60 per room during the school holiday weekend, it’s difficult to find another hotel in such a central location that also includes breakfast, so the value for money is hard to ignore. I would also like to commend the staff. The front desk team was welcoming, and the housekeeping team responded promptly to our requests throughout our two-day stay. The buffet breakfast was consistently topped up whenever items ran low, although the selection of pastries was limited. Overall, the staff were amazing—warm and friendly whenever we crossed paths, whether at the front desk, during housekeeping interactions, or at breakfast service. That said, there are areas that could use significant improvement. The bathrooms are overdue for renovation, with rusty corners and stubborn stains in several places. The towels have also seen better days—they were thin and had visible holes. I don't fault the staff for these issues, as they seem to be doing their best with a property that is quite run-down. I believe the hotel management needs to do a better job of updating and maintaining the facilities. Overall, this is a budget-friendly option with excellent service, though the hotel's physical condition could benefit from some much-needed upgrades.

I had a wonderful stay at Ibis Melaka during my recent trip to Malacca. The hotel exceeded my expectations in many ways. The location is very convenient, just a short walk to Jonker Street and the historic area, which made exploring the city extremely easy. At the same time, the hotel is situated in a quieter area, so it was peaceful and comfortable at night. The rooms are clean, modern, and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and efficient layout of the room. Everything felt very new and thoughtfully designed. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, always greeting guests with a smile and ready to assist whenever needed. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient. Another highlight was the excellent facilities, including the swimming pool, gym, and the spacious lobby area. The breakfast spread was also good with a nice mix of local and international options. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend Ibis Melaka to anyone visiting Malacca. It offers great comfort, good value, and a very convenient location. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit.

The hotel was clean and tidy, but they didn't refill the soap. I had to call twice for an iron and board to be delivered. Everything seemed to require two calls to arrive at the door. The hotel food and pool were good, and the location was also fine. The only slight hassle was having to get a stamp for the parking ticket every time we wanted to leave. We made an effort to buy swimming attire for the pool as requested, only to find many people swimming in regular clothes! I'm really unhappy about this! a great budget hotel find for anyone looking for a comfortable stay without breaking the bank. the room was really cozy. got upgraded for a bigger room for f.o.c and it came fully equipped with a tv, iron and kettle nor mineral water. as a muslim travelers, they also provide a clear qibla direction sticker. the aircond was superb too, really cold and perfect for a good night's sleep. the bathroom was the best part, it was clean and the water pressure was really strong which makes showering so refreshing plus most importantly, it has a bidet hose, which is a huge plus. the elevators are okay so no long waits. the staff are very friendly and welcoming also theres plenty of parking space, not to worry about finding a spot for parking. hotel location very strategic & located in the middle a city & convenience store for restaurants, i have to walk a little bit, but it’s a manageable distance. one minor downside, the room soundproofing isnt the best, i can occasionally hear noise from the hallway or outside the room. if youre a light sleeper, you might want to take note of that. overall i highly recommended for those who want comfort on a budget

I was very satisfied with my stay at Moty Hotel! The location is convenient, making it easy to visit nearby attractions and find food. Overall, okay for a night stay. Pros : - COMFY BEDS - Nearby shops and food. Cons : - There was a really weird uncomfortable smell in the lift lobby on the 8th floor and in our rooms. - Need to go to the counter to let them know abt going out every time. (Scan touch & go card) - Rooms were rlly dark and dim and looks like nobody stayed here for a long time. - Shower had no doors or shower curtain so have to control when showering to prevent water getting all over the floor. - Slippers have to be requested during check-in and we weren’t inform about it and had to go back down to ask, the staff even stood around waiting for tips.

Sorry, I won't be returning to this hotel. I booked a king bed, but when I arrived, I got two single beds pushed together. Then the staff let me change to a second room, but the air conditioning was noisy, which really disturbed my sleep. So the staff let me change rooms again, but the third room was in really poor condition. The bed was broken, causing the mattress to sag downwards. The floor was peeling, the dressing table was old and shabby, and the AC wires were scattered behind the bed. I was traveling with a small child, which made it even worse. What bad luck! I've never had to change rooms three times before. Luckily, the staff's response was good, and we got an upgrade to a family room. The room was okay, and the air conditioning was fine, but I definitely won't be coming back.

I recently stayed at The Baba House Melaka and had an enjoyable experience overall. The property is clean, well-maintained, and beautifully preserved despite being a heritage building. I would recommend it to travellers looking for a heritage stay in Melaka with friendly and accommodating service.

Stayed for a night in Malacca and booked a deluxe twin room, but I wasn't too happy with the room on the first floor. After speaking with the front desk staff, I paid a little extra to upgrade to an executive suite. Overall, the executive suite's facilities were fantastic. The hotel's location is also excellent, right by the river, so you can take a stroll along the river after breakfast in the morning. It's also very close to all the main attractions on Jonker Street. Highly recommended.

About the room: comfy and clean room, bed and pillow, toilet and shower area. I'm very particular about any foul or unpleasant smell, and so far this hotel has not disappointed. Loved their swimming pool which is an infinity pool. For tourists' info: This hotel is in between Encore and Jonker Street. Uniqlo, Jaya Grocer, Mixue, Watson's among the brands at Tarcor Park which is near Encore.

Booked the suite and room was really big. Came with 2 queen beds and had a separate work area big enough for meals and activities 😅 Room was clean and look well maintained. No stains or whatsoever. Very pleasant stay. The hotel staff were helpful and prompt in service. We asked to clean up the room and left for breakfast immediately after. When we returned the room was all made up, neat and tidy. Breakfast was decent. Do note though, that the take-your-own-food buffet style became semi ala carte buffet because there were not enough guests while I was there. Still, it was good enough. Kids wanted to swim but the pool was a little too tiny for our liking. We did activities outside of the hotel though so not much of an issue. Location wise. If you want something right next to malls or in the heart of the jonker area, this is probably not your best choice. We take a 10 min walk to the jonker area and it was a comfortable stroll though. Quiet enough but not too near. Overall a good stay and very happy to return.

We had a pleasant stay overall. The ambience was nice, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Love the welcome drink! Just a small feedback for improvement: the coffee machine, cup area was a bit dusty, and we weren’t know that items like toothbrush and shower cap were provided and placed inside the drawer. We only found out after going out to purchase them from nearby shops. It might help to make this more visible or inform guests during check-in. On a positive note, we were told by staff that there’s a new parking space beside the hotel, which is much more convenient and safe compared to the previous one behind the hotel that felt quite dark and unsafe. The buggy service was also provided from hotel to parking and vice versa. Fast and efficient, which we really appreciated that we no need to walk, especially during heavy rain and night time. We also liked that they sell fizzy bath bombs, a nice touch for a relaxing stay. Overall, still a great experience. Thank you!

This is a charming boutique hotel, exuding a strong Malaccan Nanyang (Southeast Asian) style. The room decor is a delightful blend of European and Nanyang influences, with high-quality materials used throughout. The lobby and public areas feature beautiful and impressive marble, and even the bathroom fixtures in the rooms are top-notch. There's an elevator, which is a great plus, as many smaller hotels often prioritize aesthetics over convenience. The room isn't huge, but it has a balcony – though I didn't use it due to the heat. The air conditioning was excellent, and the shower water pressure was great. The towels weren't brand new, but I always bring my own anyway. The toiletries are L'Occitane, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is semi-buffet style; it has everything you need, and while not super extensive, it's quite good. Each room gets two complimentary coffees to take away daily. There was a male staff member, I think named NASIK, who was incredibly friendly and happy to chat with guests. He was very helpful with luggage and looked quite Chinese, leaving a great impression. Overall, this hotel is excellent. While not directly on the river, the location is still very convenient for exploring and experiencing the local culture. My only gripe is with Trip.com – I don't understand why the price was so high when I booked. I didn't keep an eye on it, and when I checked in, I realized booking on the same day would have been much cheaper. That's likely a platform issue, not the hotel's.

Rucksack inn provided us a nice and cosy 3 night stay. We were warmly greeted by the staff for our check-in and the room was nicely made and ready for us. The room provided us with the basic amenities we need - coffee, toothbrush, shampoo and shower gel which we appreciated that. Complimentary breakfast was served every morning. Bread, eggs and coffee were the usual, but on that Sunday, we had the additional Kueh Lapis, doughnuts and fried noodles. The inn was only about 10-15min walk away from the main tourist spots and that makes it very convenient. Overall, we had a very good stay and would highly recommend this inn if you are looking for an accommodation in Melaka.

The only slight inconvenience is that the road is closed during the weekend night market, so we have to walk to the entrance of Jonker Street if we want to take a taxi. However, this does not bother us much because Melaka is great for city walking, and overall transportation is still quite convenient. Great location, warm service and highly recommended for family travelers!
