The first thing that surprised me when I visited? It's HUGE! In fact, Zoo Melaka is the second-largest zoo in Malaysia, covering around 54 acres. I honestly didn't expect it to be so big. You could easily spend 3 to 4 hours exploring and still feel like there's more to see. If you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend setting aside at least half a day so you can explore at a more relaxed pace without rushing. When the crocodiles swim above you, you can actually see them from below! The first time I saw it, I honestly found it quite impressive. It’s definitely one of the more unique experiences you won’t want to miss at Zoo Melaka. 🔥

When you visit Zoo Melaka, the elephants are definitely one of the main highlights! 🐘 There are two elephant shows daily:

Before the show begins, you can purchase sugarcane for around RM5 per portion (approximately 5 stalks) and enjoy a fun feeding experience with the elephants. The elephants are very friendly and visitors can get a closer look, feed them, and even take photos as a memorable souvenir. 📸

After the elephant show, don’t leave just yet! Head over to the Elephant Aquatic Pavilion, which usually starts around 11:10 AM. Here, you can watch elephants swimming and playing in the water! 🐘💦

If I had to choose one of the most unforgettable experiences at Zoo Melaka, Monkey Island would definitely be on my list. 🐒 Just a small heads-up! Monkey Island is located further away from the main zoo area, and you’ll need to take a boat ride to reach it. The monkeys here are also extremely playful and energetic 😂. They are not shy at all, sometimes they may jump onto your shoulders or get very close when you arrive!

It’s definitely a unique experience, but remember to follow the staff’s instructions and keep your belongings secure!

🚙 Buggy Tour (Recommended for Families / Elderly Visitors)

Since Zoo Melaka is quite large, walking around the entire zoo can be tiring, especially for young children or elderly family members. That’s why I highly recommend trying the Buggy Tour if you want a more comfortable way to explore. 🚙

The buggy ride costs around RM100 per buggy and brings visitors to several key areas around the zoo. Along the way, you can hop off to take photos, feed animals, and learn more about them from the driver’s explanations. Trust me, with a zoo this big, having a buggy ride can really save your energy and make the whole experience much more enjoyable! 😊

But nothing to complain about. Bed is comfortable. Bedsheets has some minor stains. Nothing disgusting. There is one thing to take note. Request for city view instead of sea view. The outside glass is not clean, full of stains. Could be due to the renovation site next to the hotel. If you want to rest during the day. Avoid sea view. The construction noise level is too loud to have proper rest.

Overall, I really liked this hotel with its strong Nanyang (Southeast Asian) charm. From the exterior to the room decor, everything felt great. It's within walking distance to attractions and close to the TBS bus station, just a fifteen-minute drive away. However, there were a few things I wasn't happy about: 1. I didn't realize beforehand that breakfast here is à la carte and only starts at 7:00 AM. It also takes a while for the food to be prepared. Since we had already booked our bus back to Kuala Lumpur for 9:00 AM, there was no time to eat. It was a shame, and we couldn't get a refund either. The staff kindly packed two boxes of bread for us, but for a breakfast costing several hundred for four people, it wasn't worth it. If you want to enjoy breakfast properly, definitely plan your time carefully. 2. We were three adults and one child, but we were required to book two rooms. Even though the rooms were spacious, we couldn't add an extra bed. 3. The soundproofing in the rooms was very poor. We could clearly hear our neighbors showering and flushing the toilet at night, and it was quite noisy. 4. We were charged 600 RMB for the two rooms upon check-in. I paid with a credit card, but upon check-out, I was told the refund would take 15 business days to be credited back to my account. That's quite annoying.

Positive : Good location, good price, I booked twin room , room and bathroom size just nice for 2 guess. negative: hotel looks a bit run down, bathroom no lock .. which is a bit inconvenient when travelling with friends, the escalater not working, the corridors to the room so dark at night, they off the lights to save the cost but feel a bit unsafe as lady traveller , front dest guys was not friendly at all... i just asked a bit earlier 2.30 check in , he answered so rude .. hotel reception mean need to smile at least even if the answer is no .. actually its weekdays and the entire hotel only a few guests..can give.. i hv many hotel give at 2 pm if room available.. i hate the hotel doesn't give early check in but strictly mk early check out even not super low season.. and this hotel is only 3star level .. its not 4 star .. but the swimming pool is good

Very comfortable hotel with a pool, suitable for kids. Great location near the River Cruise jetty, and walking distance to Dataran Pahlawan along the riverside path. Beautiful views... worth it. Shops, especially Speedmart99 and Mamak Sri Sahabat, have really delicious and affordable food. The staff, from top to bottom, are all kind, friendly, and welcoming. You should definitely stay at this hotel... it's worth it. I stayed 1 night, then extended to 3 nights! 😆😆

The good... location is near malls, can walk to heritage sites for tourists, price is not expensive, nearby bus terminal at Hatten Hotel. Good for just sleeping and then do your sightseeing. Aircon works, fridge also halfway there. Plenty of food options all around, convenience stores for your needs. The bad... dated. While it is still relatively clean, the rooms feel dilapidated. Floors are peeling off, curtains torn, windows cannot fully close off, lights dim. I've found too many bagworms that I've given up on throwing them away - in the cabinet, in toilet. So, if you don't mind all these and just need an affordable place to sleep, this hotel can be an option. If you are those tai-tai who expects high crass place, look elsewhere. Note: Carpark is linked to hotel at Level 2 & 3.

Use to hv direct access from hotel to the shopping centre. But it is closed after COVID. Some tips for the prospective customers. If you are going to the Dataran Pahlawan shopping centre. Please take the lift to G floor walk towards Hatten hotel entrance, walk towards the Baun Buffel direction, u saw a lift near to their sales gallery. Took to 2nd floor (before 9pm) and walked towards the Dataran Pahlawan shopping centre. GSC cinema at L5. Walk inside the shopping centre where you saw a common area where you saw Mixue or Levis boutique. Walk towards the Brands outlet and you will see an exit. Took that exit it will lead you to the farmosa, red square, St Paul fort, Jonker street.

a great budget hotel find for anyone looking for a comfortable stay without breaking the bank. the room was really cozy. got upgraded for a bigger room for f.o.c and it came fully equipped with a tv, iron and kettle nor mineral water. as a muslim travelers, they also provide a clear qibla direction sticker. the aircond was superb too, really cold and perfect for a good night's sleep. the bathroom was the best part, it was clean and the water pressure was really strong which makes showering so refreshing plus most importantly, it has a bidet hose, which is a huge plus. the elevators are okay so no long waits. the staff are very friendly and welcoming also theres plenty of parking space, not to worry about finding a spot for parking. hotel location very strategic & located in the middle a city & convenience store for restaurants, i have to walk a little bit, but it’s a manageable distance. one minor downside, the room soundproofing isnt the best, i can occasionally hear noise from the hallway or outside the room. if youre a light sleeper, you might want to take note of that. overall i highly recommended for those who want comfort on a budget

Nice environment and convenient location, about 5 minutes from Jonker Street. Plenty of parking right in front of the hotel. The disappointing part was the parking. We attempted to pay using both the MBMB app and Touch ’n Go, but encountered system errors and were unable to complete the payment. Unfortunately, we only discovered after checkout that we had received a parking summon. Since the hotel does not provide dedicated parking, it left a rather unpleasant ending to an otherwise enjoyable stay.

The hotel itself is very nice, and the rooms are reasonably spacious. No bath tub, just standing shower. Breakfast was simple but adequate, with a live egg station and a noodle station. Parking is free. Location itself is a bit out of the city centre, but nothing that Grab cannot handle. I drove, so it wasn't really a problem. I would recommend, if you can get it at a good price.

The room was a good size and the bed was extremely comfortable. Had basic essentials which was good. However the stains in the room and towels were not good at all. This hotel definitely has a lot of character. Let's start with the positives: the lobby is absolutely stunning, steeped in history, and truly a sight to behold. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of unique fruits and dishes. The dining area itself was comfortable, cozy, and elegant, making you feel like you're dining in a historical masterpiece. Now for the downsides: the hotel is quite old, and the facilities and equipment are showing their age. The bedding was also not up to par; the duvet in our room was stained with what looked like blood, and we had to call someone to replace it. The soundproofing in the rooms is poor. While being on Jonker Street is convenient for exploring, it also means traffic jams every time a vehicle tries to enter, making getting in and out a bit of a hassle. If you prioritize unique character and historical charm, this hotel might be for you. However, if quality and attention to detail are your main concerns, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

They are currently undergoing renovations, and the staff are clearly trying their best, but management should lower the price until updates are complete. This was my first time staying at Babahouse, and I really loved the concept and traditional style of the hotel. From the moment we arrived at the lobby, we were warmly greeted and welcomed with a complimentary drink coin for the entire stay — 1 coin per person, per room. Since we had 2 rooms for 2 days, we received 4 coins in total. A nice little touch that made us feel welcomed. When we entered our rooms, they were generally clean, tidy and comfortable. However, in one of the rooms, we noticed some mould on the towel and also on the bed. We understand that this can happen if a room has been unoccupied for some time, especially with the humid weather. We also noticed that only some of the room windows have coverings, which may contribute to the room condition. Hopefully, the management can pay extra attention to this. The weather outside was extremely hot, with no rain for the whole week, so the first thing we did was turn the air-conditioning on full blast! We also tried the gym and really enjoyed it. Although the gym is small, the space is sufficient for a simple workout. They also provide towels and drinking water, which is very convenient. Around the hotel, there is Rumah Kechik Café and also a hidden bar on the side, which adds to the overall charm and experience. During our stay, we didn't drive around much. We mainly went out to Jonker Street and simply walked from the hotel. It was easy and convenient, and it also saved us time from dealing with traffic and finding parking. Overall, I really enjoyed my first stay at Babahouse. I love the traditional concept, atmosphere and location. With a little more attention to room maintenance and cleanliness, I believe the experience could be even better. Definitely a place I would consider staying again when visiting Melaka.

The room does not have a refrigerator, which can be inconvenient for families traveling with young children, as we need a place to store snacks, milk, or baby food. There were also quite a few mosquitoes around the property, so bringing insect repellent is a good idea. Lastly, it would be helpful if the hotel could provide a laundry bag in the room. It’s really quite a dread to have sweat smell of others left behind. However the Change was quick. So the service is definitely prompt. Certainly Hope housekeeping can be more alert. The silicon around the wash basin needs to change. Looks like it is time to run a new coat. TheShower head was visually clean though. That’s a good note.

This is a very good hotel especially when you can book it with a budgeted price. The hotel also provided a snack and drink from the vending machine at the reception hall area. The only problem is the room is not soundproof enough. I can hear the next room customer laughing, chatting in the middle of night (maybe they just came back from Jonker Night Street Walk). But it's kind of disturbing for us to get a good sleep.

From the night before check-in, the hotel already impressed us with its thoughtful service. We received detailed arrival instructions, including directions via Waze to the car park located behind the hotel. Upon arrival, staff were waiting for us at the back entrance and kindly escorted us to the front desk for check-in, which made the whole process smooth and welcoming. The hotel also offered complimentary afternoon tea around noon, which was a lovely gesture after our journey. The property features a unique and elegant Nanyang-inspired design, creating a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Our room was exceptionally spacious and comfortable. The bed was excellent, and we appreciated the choice of three different types of pillows. A wide variety of complimentary snacks and beverages was also provided. To make the stay even more special, the hotel manager personally wrote a welcome card for us. The bathroom was well appointed with a full range of toiletries, and the bathtub was wonderfully large. The only minor drawback was that the hot water became cool halfway through filling the tub. Breakfast the next morning was served from a menu with both Western and Chinese options, offering a good variety of choices. Overall, this was a truly impeccable experience. It was clear that the hotel genuinely cares about every detail of its guests’ stay. We felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit, and we would not hesitate to return.

The hotel isn't brand new, but the staff were very friendly. It's easy to get a taxi from here; it's not far from the Red Square or the Melaka Straits Mosque, but a taxi is still the most convenient option. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs, which is really handy. Jonker Street has a night market from Friday to Sunday evenings, which is much livelier than during the week. If you're visiting, I'd recommend going on a weekend for a more authentic experience.

The location is great, right at the entrance of Jonker Street, making it very convenient for taxis. The welcome drink was also delicious. However, there's no elevator, and the stairs are quite narrow, so lugging a big suitcase up to our second-floor room was a real struggle. The room was spacious, and the bed was huge. We could even see the Jonker Street stage from our window and watch Hunan TV! The only downside was that the shower water wasn't very hot. Considering it was during the bustling Chinese New Year, the price was really good value for money!
