Futian Station Guide

Gambar Profil Penulis

Futian Station in Shenzhen is more than just a railway stop but it is one of China’s largest underground transport hubs and a key gateway between mainland China and Hong Kong. Opened in 2015, Futian Station spans multiple underground levels, making it one of Asia’s most extensive subterranean stations. It integrates China Railway High-Speed (CRH) services with Shenzhen Metro Lines 2, 3, and 11, allowing seamless transfers between long-distance trains and local transport. For travellers, it offers a smooth and efficient way to connect with major Chinese cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, or to cross the border to Hong Kong in a single journey. With easy metro access, clear English signage, and plenty of amenities, Futian Station makes travelling through southern China straightforward and comfortable.

Getting to Futian Station

Source: China Railway Wiki

No matter where your journey begins such as Hong Kong, Shenzhen city centre, or a nearby airport reaching Futian Station is simple with several convenient transport options.

From Hong Kong

  • By MTR and Foot
Take the MTR East Rail Line to Lok Ma Chau Station, then follow the clearly marked signs to the Futian Port immigration checkpoint. After clearing both Hong Kong and mainland China customs, it is a short, covered walk directly into Futian District and the station entrance.
  • By High-Speed Train
For a faster and more comfortable option, board the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong High-Speed Rail at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. The journey to Futian Station takes about 15–20 minutes, with frequent departures throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Trip.com or the official 12306 app, both of which accept international credit cards.

From Shenzhen City

  • Metro Connections
Futian Station is served by Metro Lines 2, 3, and 11, making it easy to reach from most parts of the city. Trains run every few minutes from early morning until late evening, and clear English signs simplify navigation.
  • Taxi or Ride-Hailing
Licensed taxis and popular ride-hailing apps such as DiDi provide direct, door-to-door service. This is a convenient choice if you are carrying heavy luggage or travelling late at night.

From Airports

  • Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX)
    • By Metro: Take Metro Line 11 from the airport directly to Futian Station. The ride is about 35–40 minutes and requires no transfers.
    • By Taxi or DiDi: A taxi ride takes roughly 30–40 minutes, depending on traffic. This is the easiest option if you have large suitcases or arrive after metro operating hours.
  • Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
    • Airport Express + High-Speed Rail: Ride the Airport Express to Kowloon Station (about 20 minutes). From there, walk or take a short taxi to West Kowloon Station, then board the high-speed train to Futian Station (about 15–20 minutes).
    • Cross-Border Bus: Several direct cross-border coach services operate from HKG to Futian District. After clearing immigration, it’s a brief taxi or metro ride to Futian Station.

Ticketing at Futian Station

China's high-speed railway to enter e-ticket era - CGTN

Source: CGTN

Buying tickets for both high-speed trains and the Shenzhen Metro is simple if you plan ahead. Travellers have several convenient options:

High-Speed Rail Tickets

  • Online Booking: Reserve seats through Trip.com or the official 12306 website/app. Both platforms accept international credit cards, including Visa and Mastercard, making them friendly for Malaysian users.
  • Station Counters & Machines: If you prefer to buy in person, Futian Station has staffed ticket counters and self-service machines with English menus. You must present your passport to purchase or collect tickets.
  • E-Tickets: When booking online, you can often use an e-ticket by scanning your passport at the gate, eliminating the need for a paper ticket.
  • Typical Fare : A one-way Hong Kong West Kowloon → Futian high-speed train ticket is usually around ¥68 (CNY), roughly RM 42 for a standard second-class seat. Prices may vary slightly by train class or time of day

Metro Tickets

  • Single Journey Tokens: Purchase from vending machines at any metro station; instructions are available in English.
  • Shenzhen Tong Card: For frequent travel, get a rechargeable Shenzhen Tong smart card, which allows easy tap-in/out access and can also be used on buses and some taxis.
  • Metro rides start at ¥2 (CNY) about RM 1.20 for short trips and can reach ¥14 (CNY) about RM 8.70 for the longest journeys.

Payment Options for Travellers

  • Credit Cards: International cards are widely accepted on Trip.com but may not always work on the 12306 app. Keep a backup payment method.
  • E-Wallets: Apps such as Alipay and WeChat Pay are extremely common in China. Malaysian travellers can activate these using a Malaysian bank card before the trip.
  • Cash: Carry some Chinese yuan (RMB) in case you encounter machines or shops that only accept cash.

Helpful Tips

  • Book high-speed rail tickets at least a few days in advance during holidays or peak seasons.
  • Double-check the departure station (e.g., Shenzhen North vs. Futian) when purchasing to avoid confusion.
  • Keep your passport handy at all times for ticket collection and station entry.

Facilities & Hygiene: The hotel has been open for a while now. Even though it's been renovated, some parts do show their age, which is to be expected. However, the cleanliness is consistently good, and the rooms are generally very spacious, making for a comfortable stay. Service: The staff are very welcoming. The only minor inconvenience is having to report your car plate to the front desk every time you leave the parking lot.

Staying at the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen Futian was a truly delightful experience. The service was impeccable, as gentle and refreshing as a breeze, with prompt and considerate responses to all my needs. The smart delivery robots were incredibly convenient and efficient, perfectly blending technology with a human touch. Even the coffee latte art was exquisite, a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The elegant environment and outstanding quality make this hotel a reliable choice for business travelers. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip!

It's been over half a year since our last stay on the executive floor. We always look forward to coming here to enjoy the executive lounge's snacks, and the breakfast offers plenty of choices. The location is superb, right in the heart of Futian CBD, just a 1-2 minute walk away. It's incredibly convenient with the bustling Huangting Plaza and Link Central shopping malls nearby, offering a wide array of food and entertainment. So, whenever we have free time, we love bringing our kids here for a wonderful weekend [applause][hug]. We really like it here; although the hotel's facilities show their age, you can still see the former grandeur and luxurious decor, with crystal chandeliers and understated, elegant wood accents. Coco Park, a beautiful indoor and outdoor shopping center with many dining options, is also just a 5-7 minute walk away. The service at this hotel is excellent 👍.

I planned a trip during the Chinese New Year and compared several hotels before finally choosing the Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen. I was drawn to its location, and we arrived as scheduled on the fifth day of the New Year. Our group of six took a taxi from Shenzhen Bao'an Airport to the hotel, which took about half an hour. I guess there wasn't much traffic due to the holiday. Upon arrival, I noticed it's in the Futian Free Trade Zone, and Futian District is Shenzhen's city center, close to Futian Port. The hotel has a fairly large footprint. The lobby has an old-money vibe, which is understandable as it's one of Shenzhen's older five-star hotels, so it's a bit dated. We booked one Deluxe King Room and two Select Twin Rooms. The hotel is divided into an East Wing and a West Wing. The Deluxe King Room was in the East Wing, and the Select Twin Rooms were in the West Wing. It's worth noting that the two buildings are quite far apart. You can access the East Wing directly from the lobby floor, but for the West Wing, you need to take an elevator up to the 5th floor, then navigate three corridors, walking for about a minute to reach the West Wing, and then use your key card to go up to your floor. It's a bit of a trek and not a direct elevator ride. I suspect the West Wing was added later. The Deluxe Room was slightly smaller and only had a bathtub. The king bed was 1.83 meters, quite large. The Select Room, I believe, is an executive room; it was very spacious, probably around 30 square meters. The twin beds were 1.35 meters, which is good compared to the 1.2-meter beds in other hotels. The bedding was very comfortable and soft. The bathroom had a shower. Although the hardware is a bit old, the service is excellent. The soundproofing in this room is genuinely good; we stayed for four nights and didn't hear any noise. Especially the surroundings of the Select Room – it was high, spacious, and open, creating a very comfortable and un-claustrophobic environment. The cleanliness was also superb. The hotel staff were very warm and friendly; it definitely lives up to five-star service. The breakfast was standard, meeting the hotel's expected quality. If you don't include breakfast, it's 88 RMB per person for the buffet. Getting around is also very convenient. Taxis and subways are readily available, and there are plenty of shared bikes (Mobike, Ofo, etc.) nearby. We cycled around the city many times. In February, Shenzhen was already warm enough for short sleeves, making cycling very pleasant. For those going to Hong Kong, you can reach Futian Port by shared bike in 3 minutes to take the subway to Hong Kong, or take a taxi for 10 minutes to Futian Station (Gate 12A) and take the high-speed rail for 14 minutes to Hong Kong West Kowloon. Crossing the border is also very quick now. This trip to Shenzhen was a great experience, mainly because I slept so well due to the excellent soundproofing; there was no noise at all. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Shenzhen, which is why I'm leaving this review. The hotel offers a station transfer service (shuttle bus): Didn't get a chance to use it.

Our four-generation family spent Chinese New Year in Shenzhen, and the New Year's Eve buffet, Yee Sang tossing, and the lion dance on the first day of the New Year were all fantastic experiences. Everyone, from the oldest to the youngest, loved it. The hotel's location is also super convenient; the train station downstairs gets you to Hong Kong West Kowloon in just 14 minutes. Our preschooler even drew a lucky 'fu' character, which was adorable!

I booked two rooms for two nights over Chinese New Year, both advertised with 'city views.' However, we were given low-floor rooms that looked directly onto the large roof of the exhibition center across the street. We decided not to change rooms as they were otherwise decent. The hotel is 17 years old, and while the lobby shows a bit of age, it's very well-maintained. Our entire 7th floor had been recently renovated, which was a pleasant surprise. The gym is excellently equipped with a wide range of machines. The rooftop outdoor pool is also very comfortable. Location-wise, it's right in the heart of Futian District, surrounded by 6-7 malls, making dining, shopping, and strolling very convenient. The hotel service was absolutely impeccable; everyone greeted us with a smile! We had a very comfortable stay. The only downside was the breakfast, which wasn't quite ideal. While there was a good variety of items, it would be perfect if the taste could be refined and improved.

Service: I absolutely have to highlight this! If you're big on hotel service, you can't go wrong with this place. We arrived quite early after flying from Nanjing to Shenzhen, and there was a huge temperature difference. The staff were incredibly patient, helped us with our room, and even proactively asked if we needed a place to change clothes. Ms. Nancy was so gentle and patient during check-in, and her handwritten welcome card really touched me. The local tourist map she provided was also super useful. Plus, the duty manager at the front desk that day was very helpful, sharing insights about the nearby commercial areas – truly excellent! Ambiance: The hotel's location is fantastic, right opposite the Futian Exhibition Center. You don't have to worry about food, drinks, or entertainment, as everything is easily accessible. Getting around is convenient, and there's even a border crossing nearby for trips to Hong Kong. Facilities: Four Seasons is a relatively well-established hotel in Shenzhen. After staying at one in Hong Kong, I was curious to experience their mainland China offering. It has everything you'd expect, and it all works perfectly. I was very satisfied. Especially noteworthy is the bathroom floor – it's anti-slip but not abrasive, so no need for a bath mat, and the drainage is incredibly fast. It's the best experience and most functional bathroom I've encountered in a hotel so far (my focus points might be a bit odd, I know!). My two stays at Four Seasons have truly won me over. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! This trip to Shenzhen was delightful and comfortable.

Facilities: Old-fashioned, but the location is a big plus. Cleanliness: The staff actually clean quite diligently, but there were still small flying insects in the room. They probably haven't done this year's pest control yet. Environment: Average. Service: I booked two rooms with cash, and they didn't even upgrade one to a larger room. Instead, they gave us two small, run-down rooms at opposite ends of the same floor. Pretty stingy.

The hotel front desk provided excellent service. All the rooms are suites with a separate living room, making for a very comfortable stay. The hotel is located near Dongmen, directly opposite Dongmen Market, and it's also very close to the pedestrian street for shopping. Transportation is convenient, with a subway station right downstairs. I really like the rooms here, especially having a spacious living room. The front desk staff were all very helpful. It's also very convenient for shopping, and there's a free gym and laundry room on the 5th floor. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I have the opportunity.

The hygiene was pretty good; the sheets and duvet were clean, with no strange objects or smells. The service was also quite good; the front desk staff had a great attitude, and the food delivery robot brought my takeout right to the door promptly. Each bed had two latex pillows and two regular pillows, which was a very thoughtful and detailed touch. However, there was no razor in my room, even though it was listed on the amenities sheet. This isn't very friendly for male guests. I'd suggest providing bathrobes in different sizes (one larger, one smaller) instead of all being the same size. Also, some other advertised services were not provided. Finally, the soundproofing of the door is almost nonexistent. I could hear the noisy corridor very clearly. I came back late after going out and wanted to sleep in the next morning, but I was woken up by a loud bang from a door across the hall early in the morning.

The hotel's location is excellent; it's very close to Wutong Mountain, Meisha Peak, and both Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches. The subway is an 8-minute walk away, and the Chung Ying Street is a 10-minute walk. Plus, there are plenty of dining options nearby, whether you prefer takeout or dining in. Escaping the daily grind of the big city, I seized the holiday to visit Dapeng Peninsula and chose a B&B under 'The White House' brand. My four-day, three-night experience far exceeded expectations – it definitely deserves full marks! The B&B is a super stylish, pure white, Instagram-worthy building that blends perfectly with the sea and beach, making every photo-op effortless. The room's enormous floor-to-ceiling windows offer direct, first-row sea views. During the day, you can sit on the white high chairs on the balcony, watching egrets skim across the water, with distant mountains faintly visible in the clouds. As dusk settles, the sky slowly darkens, and the sea reflects the shore lights, creating an incredibly atmospheric scene. At night, falling asleep to the gentle sound of the waves guarantees a peaceful night's rest – pure vacation relaxation. I absolutely must commend Phoebe, the wonderful guy who hosted me. He was gentle, attentive, and his service was both thoughtful and patient. Even though the weather wasn't great during my stay, he proactively provided me with rain gear, thinking of every detail. Coincidentally, it was Lantern Festival, and he kindly brought me a steaming bowl of sweet glutinous rice balls (tangyuan). The soft tangyuan, with red dates and goji berries, warmed my heart, making me feel a strong festive atmosphere even away from home. The attention to detail was truly outstanding and incredibly warm. Being right by the sea, the B&B's environment is quiet and pleasant, far from the city's hustle and bustle, allowing for complete relaxation. Enjoying a beer on the terrace at night, watching the shimmering moonlight on the water, all fatigue simply melts away. The overall experience far exceeded expectations; the environment, cleanliness, and service were all impeccable. Next time I visit Nanao, I will definitely stay here again. I genuinely recommend it to anyone looking to escape the urban noise and fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves!

Booked my trip during Chinese New Year, and the front desk agent, Xiao Yang, was incredibly warm and attentive. They let me check in early after confirming with me, and even offered complimentary breakfast and a late checkout, which was very patient of them. The room had a balcony, which was a nice touch overall. The breakfast selection was a bit limited compared to other Hilton properties, and the room rate during Chinese New Year was actually double what you'd pay at Shenzhen North Station.
