The Great Wall is not one place. It runs 21,196 km across northern China, and Beijing sits beside eight sections you can reach on a day trip. Read our Beijing travel guide for Malaysians alongside this one.

Key takeaways

Mutianyu suits most first-time visitors.

  • A cable car climbs to Tower 14, a 1,580 m toboggan brings you down, and the crowds are a fraction of Badaling's.
  • Badaling is the only section with a high-speed train, 20 to 30 minutes from Qinghe or Beijing North.
  • Malaysian passports get 30 visa-free days, so the wall is a day trip.

Why the section matters more than the ticket price

Every Beijing section has its own ticket office, buses and crowd. Pick badly and you lose half a day to stand shoulder to shoulder with thousands of people. Pick well and you walk a quiet ridge with nothing but wind.

Badaling: the one with the train

Badaling opened in 1957 and carries more visitors than any other section, 70 km northwest of the city. Gates run 06:30 to 16:30 from 1 April to 31 October, then 07:30 to 16:00 through winter. An adult ticket costs RMB 40 in peak season.

Tickets are sold by real name, one per passport per day, and reservations open 90 days ahead. Under-18s and over-60s qualify for free admission under the published policy, and foreign visitors follow the same tiers. The Jingzhang high-speed line reaches Badaling Great Wall Station in 20 to 30 minutes from Beijing North or Qinghe, for RMB 16 to 25. Bus 877 leaves Deshengmen between 06:00 and 12:30 for RMB 12, and the last bus back goes around 17:00.

North Tower 8 is the summit, and the climb there is nicknamed Hero Slope. Tickets for the cable car cost RMB 100 one way and RMB 140 return, while the slide car down to North Tower 4 is RMB 80. A night session runs 30 April to 7 October at RMB 198 on weekdays and RMB 298 on holidays.

Mutianyu: the one to book first

Mutianyu sits 70 km northeast in Huairou District, where 5.4 km of restored wall follows a forested ridge. Gates open at 07:30 and close at 18:00, with the last tickets sold at 17:00. Trip.com scores the section 4.8 from 36,710 reviews and ranks it second among traveller-picked attractions in Beijing. Arrive before 09:00 and the watchtowers are close to empty.

The postcard entrance ticket is RMB 45 and students pay RMB 25. The internal shuttle costs RMB 15 each way, and walking the 3 km from the service area is not worth the saving. Two separate companies run the mountain transport, so a ticket for one does not work on the other. Enclosed cable cars climb to Tower 14 for RMB 100 one way or RMB 140 return, while the open chairlift reaches Tower 6, with the toboggan coming down.

The toboggan runs 1,580 m and takes about five minutes, with a lever controlling your speed. Children under 10 ride with an adult, over-60s are advised against it, and the chute shuts in rain or strong wind. Children under 1.2 m travel free on all three rides.

A direct tourist shuttle from Dongzhimen or Qianmen costs RMB 80 to 140 return and leaves you five hours on the wall. Public transport costs less: Bus 916 Express to Huairou Beidajie, then H23 to Mutianyu for RMB 5.

Simatai and Gubei Water Town: the overnight section

Simatai keeps original Ming brickwork and is the only Beijing section open after dark. Most visitors arrive through Gubei Water Town, the resort village at its foot. Village entry costs RMB 150 and the Simatai day ticket RMB 40, or RMB 180 with the cable car both ways. The night tour with cable car is RMB 160, and combination tickets run from RMB 170.

Night walking runs 18:00 to 21:40 from May to October. Only towers 5 and 6 open after dark, and the cable car is compulsory. Staying inside the village drops entry to RMB 80 at most inns.

For hikers: Jinshanling, Huanghuacheng and Jiankou

Jinshanling is 130 km out and reachable only by car, two hours each way for a ridge with almost no one on it. Huanghuacheng sits partly beneath a reservoir and needs Bus 916 plus H21. Jiankou is unrestored and steep.

Two adults at Mutianyu, with shuttle and cable car, pay RMB 400, about RM245. Drop the cable car and the visit costs RMB 120. Booking is the fiddly part. Official pages ask for a Chinese ID number or Alipay, which is why most Malaysians buy through Trip.com and pay in ringgit. Our attraction booking guide for foreigners covers the same real-name rules as the Forbidden City.

Travelling with Kids

Mutianyu is the family section because the chairlift and cable car strip out most of the climbing. Children under 1.2 m ride free, and under-10s ride the toboggan with an adult. On the train to Badaling, child fares cover ages 6 to 13 at half price and adult fares start at 14. Badaling's south line, Towers 1 to 7, is gentler and quieter.

Bring water from the city, where a bottle costs RMB 2 against RMB 10 to 15 on the wall. Wear sports shoes, since the stone at Hero Slope is worn smooth. A stroller is dead weight up there. Our Beijing family travel guide covers the rest of the city.

Flights, visas and money for a Malaysian Trip

AirAsia X flies KUL to Beijing Daxing on D7 342, departing 18:50 and landing at 01:05, and Malaysia Airlines runs MH318 overnight, 23:40 to 06:00. Both take about six hours twenty minutes over 4,351 km. One-way fares start near RM522, Wednesday is the cheapest day to fly, and Trip.com's data points to booking around 40 days ahead. Compare live prices on Kuala Lumpur to Beijing flights and plan the transfer with our Beijing airport guide.

Malaysian passports enter visa free for 30 days per visit, within 90 days per 180, under the agreement that runs to 2030. File the online arrival card within 72 hours of departure at s.nia.gov.cn. Alipay and WeChat Pay both take foreign cards, free below RMB 200 and 3% above it. Touch 'n Go eWallet works at merchants on the Alipay+ network once eKYC is done, and the Beijing metro accepts Visa, Mastercard, JCB and Amex at the gates.

Halal food thins out past the Sixth Ring Road. Restaurants with the green 清真 sign cluster around Niujie and Dongsi, mapped in our Beijing Muslim itinerary. Near the wall, kitchens are village-run and unlabelled, so carry your own food.

Where to Sleep: city hotels and wall-side homestays

Most Malaysians base themselves in Dongcheng, where Beijing hotels run from budget chains to the Peninsula, and visit the wall as a day trip.

  • Brickyard Retreat, in Beigou village below Mutianyu, is a converted tile factory with 16 rooms facing the wall. Rooms from about RMB 1,200.
  • Mutianyu Village homestays cost less: Wangshanyuan scores 9.6, Country Villa starts near US$56, and several hosts drive guests to the gate.
  • Gubei Water Town inns put you inside the village for the Simatai night walk. Duan's Quadrangle Inn and Nalan Inn start around US$60.

Confirm that a guesthouse accepts foreign passports before paying a deposit, since small Chinese inns sometimes cannot register foreign guests.

Absolutely stunning hotel The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and the decor was absolutely stunning. It really does look just like the photos. Its also easy walking distance to Wangfujing shopping street, to multiple subway lines, and to the Forbidden City. Dozens of food options right across the street too, but also several in-house restaurants and room service. Our room was spotlessly clean, the air was fresh and clean, and the housekeeping cleaned up and replaced our towels and amenities daily. The gym was very well equipped with commercial gym standard equipment - it doesnt open til 7am though. The swimming pool area was also lovely though we were too busy exploring Beijing and never got a chance to swim in it! We would both, most definitely, stay with Legendale again and would thoroughly recommend to others, too. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there. We only wish we had stayed for a bit longer.

I was very satisfied with my stay this time! The hotel's location is very convenient; I didn't have to go far for transportation or dining. The room was spotlessly clean, the bedding was soft, and the soundproofing was good, so I had a peaceful night's sleep. The front desk staff, especially Chance, provided warm and thoughtful service, efficiently handling check-in and check-out, and patiently answering any questions. The public areas were clean and impressive, and the facilities were well-maintained. Overall, it offered great value for money, with no disappointments. It's suitable for both short trips and business stays. I've already recommended it to my friends and will definitely choose Sofitel Beijing Central (Accor) again next time I'm in the area. It's truly worth staying!

Considering its location, service, management, dining, facilities, and price, this is a very reliable hotel. It's free from excessive fanfare and superficial gimmicks. Communication, from the front desk staff to the lobby manager and even management, is smooth and efficient, with a low communication cost. The room decor and facilities aren't new, but they are perfectly adequate for business travelers and families. The hotel is equipped with an indoor pool and gym, which is very friendly for those who like to exercise while traveling. The breakfast selection and taste are very practical, and overall, my experience was great. I hope the hotel continues to uphold its commitment to brand and quality.

This hotel offers pretty good value for money, with an excellent location and affordable prices. While the facilities are a bit old, they are well-maintained. However, the customer service and the female front desk staff were quite subpar. They were unwilling to offer room upgrades or late check-outs, which was disappointing. I hope they improve, as it would be a shame to waste such a great location and the efforts of most of the other staff members.

Opting for the New Otani Chang Fu Gong for my Beijing trip was a great choice; the overall stay was consistently excellent and thoughtful, truly reflecting the quality of a seasoned high-end hotel. The service was warm and meticulous. Every day, they'd leave Beijing specialty snacks in the room – classic local pastries and treats. Coming back after a day of sightseeing to these delightful surprises was incredibly heartwarming. The breakfast was of a high standard, with a rich variety of choices, and a distinct Japanese flair. The tender omelets, crispy capelin, and exquisite Japanese pastries were all authentically prepared. At the same time, Chinese and Western hot dishes, breads, congees, cold cuts, and braised meats were all available, catering to different tastes. The view from the breakfast restaurant was a particular highlight. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, you could see a serene courtyard: a neatly trimmed lawn, a rock garden pond, and even white geese leisurely strolling about. The garden scenery was elegant and comfortable. Enjoying breakfast while taking in the view really helped me slow down and relax. The guest room was clean and spacious, with a well-organized layout and good natural light, making for a relaxed and unconfined stay. The overall service was on point, and the breakfast was outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel for accommodation in Beijing.

I came to Beijing with my child for a visa. The hotel is conveniently located near the embassy and Solana. The room was very spacious with a great view. The front desk staff, Liu Shujun and Shang Yanan, provided excellent service. We initially planned to stay for three days but extended our stay by one day. The breakfast was also very diverse. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

The apex of Beijing, where the true heart of luxury beats! — A perfect stay at Kerry Hotel Beijing from July 25th-26th If Beijing is a flowing feast, then the Guomao CBD is its most dazzling stage, and Kerry Hotel Beijing sits right in the center of it. During this stay, I truly experienced what it means to “be amidst the bustle, yet privately enjoy luxury.” Arriving on the afternoon of the 25th, from the moment I stepped into the lobby, that grand sense of tranquility isolated me from the noise outside the window. The room was super spacious, and the floor-to-ceiling window offered an unparalleled city skyline view, with the CCTV Headquarters (the 'big trousers') and China Zun tower side-by-side. That feeling of having the imperial capital at your feet instantly made the room rate worthwhile! I must particularly praise the Kerry Club Lounge on the 18th floor! It was truly the highlight of my entire stay! The service from Ms. Lucy, Clara, and Seanna was simply delightful, making me feel incredibly welcome. The lounge's food, whether afternoon tea or evening happy hour, offered such a vast variety that it was hard to choose. The breakfast at 'Jia Pin Restaurant' on the morning of the 26th absolutely won me over—there were 7 ways to prepare eggs alone, plus fresh grapefruit. These kinds of details are truly a huge plus! Although I know this hotel is a representative of the 'old money' opened in 1999, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained. That sense of profound grandeur, refined by the passage of time, is a quality new hotels simply cannot replicate. The gym and heated swimming pool are top-tier for hotels in China, with huge spaces and comprehensive equipment. Even just a swim feels like a luxury. My two-day journey in the heart of luxury left me wanting more. Not only is the location unbeatable, but the service and dining are also exceptional! This is definitely the most 'aristocratic' hotel I've stayed at in Beijing, second to none! ♥️

Today I'm on duty at work. It's scorching hot and there's no air conditioning in the office. It's really unbearable. I emergency chose this Xinqiao Hotel. Facilities: I chose a windowless non-smoking room. The size is decent, and the facilities are quite complete. This hotel has several Chinese and Western restaurants, so dining is quite convenient. Hygiene: The hotel's hygiene is good; it's relatively clean. I specifically chose a non-smoking room. Because it's windowless, the room is equipped with an air purifier. Environment: It's very close to my workplace, only about two or three hundred meters away. The environment is good. Service: The check-in service at this hotel was relatively quick. Room cleaning was also quite prompt, and check-out was fast. The breakfast service was also pretty good, I guess?

The housekeeping lady on 8th floor was kind and always made sure to top up water and throw rubbish as I didn’t need my room cleaned everyday. The location was excellent and short walk and there’s a nice halal Lanzhou Beef noddle shop across the road and a fruit seller either outside the hotel or across the road in front of 7-11. A good spot to get some fruits after dinner.

I chose Orange Crystal for my trip to Beijing this time, and the experience exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Wangfujing, very close to Jinshi Hutong subway station on Line 8. It's incredibly convenient for shopping and dining, and also very easy to get to attractions like Yonghe Temple and the Forbidden City. The hotel's overall decor is simple yet stylish, and the lobby environment is clean and comfortable. The guest rooms are well-cleaned, and the bedding is soft, making for a very relaxing sleep. The room is equipped with smart controls, making it easy to operate the curtains and lighting. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and toiletries are complete. It's truly a quiet resting environment in the midst of a bustling city. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient with check-in. There are many great food options nearby, and returning to the hotel after sightseeing is hassle-free. It's perfect for both tourist travel and short stays. I'll definitely prioritize this hotel next time I visit Beijing.

Check in staff is very friendly, she even allowed me to check in early. Had a large room at the corner with a great view on the 15th floor. Pillows are fluffy & towels are thick n big with excellent water absorbant. At the front of the main door the ”Tongpai” should be displayed so that it would be easier for the guests to recognise/identify since in the Trip.com it has such a name.

🌟 Heartfelt hospitality in the heart of Beijing! Special thanks to Mike Wong and Hanson Wang for an unforgettable stay! Our stay at Peace Hotel Beijing (Forbidden City) left us with the warmest and most unforgettable impressions. The hotel is incredibly well-located right in the center of Beijing, within walking distance of the main attractions, making our sightseeing trips exceptionally convenient and easy.A special highlight was the lounge on the 19th floor where the club dinners are held. Dining with a glass of wine while enjoying the breathtaking, majestic view of the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park is an unparalleled pleasure! The atmosphere there is truly magical. However, the most valuable and outstanding feature of this hotel is how they treat their guests. We experienced not just a high standard of service, but genuine love, warmth, and true, deep hospitality that is so rare to find these days.We arrived at the hotel very early — at 8:00 AM, exhausted from our journey, and were mentally prepared to wait hours for check-in. To our amazement, we were not only greeted with a smile, but were given a room immediately, saving us from tedious waiting!I would like to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to Mike Wong and Hanson Wang. They took incredible care of our family. Mike personally showed us two excellent rooms to choose from, helping us patiently and politely. The room we fell in love with on the 17th floor was instantly handed over to us.It is because of such dedicated, caring, and professional employees like Mike Wong and Hanson Wang that the brand builds its flawless positive image, making guests want to return over and over again. I highly recommend that the hotel management recognizes both Mike's and Hanson's outstanding dedication and awards them a well-deserved bonus or promotion. They are a true asset to your team!Thank you so much for an impeccable welcome. We will definitely be back and recommend this amazing hotel with all our hearts!

It’s a very good hotel located in ideal location . It’s very near to forbidden city which is just few streets away. Many restaurants located nearby, like Si Ji Min Fu Peking Duck. You could get help from the hotel to get the queue number and waiting at the hotel room before your turn. It’s really save a lot of time. The daily breakfast was good , just that the serving plates or cups were found cracked or chipped , the hotel still use that for serving customers during breakfast .We were given free drink voucher and you gotta to get the voucher from the service counter daily. Free laundry and free robot delivery service . As there’s only one robot for food delivery to room, and during peak hour , you might need to go down to collect the food at the hotel counter yourself . And the room cleaning service is awesome and they helped us to clean the baggage and left us a message in sticky note when the job’s done. Kudos to the dedicated room cleaner. Many local Beijing snacks and cold drinks are served at the hotel lobby and they are free. When we’re checked out , we’re given a small free goodie bag to bring back home.

I chose this star-rated hotel for my business trip, and it absolutely delivered on luxury—the experience was fantastic. The location deserves a special mention; it's incredibly convenient for getting around. You can walk to Metro Line 1 and Line 5, making travel effortless. Just 50 meters left from the hotel entrance is a mall with so many shopping and dining options, it's hard to choose—all your retail and food cravings are easily satisfied. The room was an even bigger surprise. It was incredibly spacious, bright, and well-lit. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an amazing view; lying in bed and enjoying the scenery was pure bliss. The amenities were comprehensive, and the pillows and mattress were perfectly comfortable. I slept like a log, straight until morning—it was incredibly refreshing. The breakfast was also noteworthy, with a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options. I was very satisfied every morning. I had such a pleasant stay these past few days that I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

1. **Check-in:** The check-in process was inefficient. They strictly enforce the 2 PM check-in time, and there was a very long line with only two front desk staff members. It got even slower when foreign guests were checking in. It wasn't even that crowded during the National Day holiday. 2. **Room:** The room was very spacious. We booked a mountain-view room, and since we had kids, we had to push the beds together. Due to the bed design, there was a huge gap at the headboard, so next time we'll have to request bed guards. The glass was quite old, and the buttons in the room weren't very responsive. With two children, we were missing children's toiletries, slippers, and bathrobes, which had to be sent up separately. Shower gel and other amenities were only available in specific kids' rooms. It would be better if they provided slippers for the hot spring area next time; the disposable ones were quite slippery. 3. **Hotel Activities:** During the National Day holiday, there were activities every morning and afternoon, which the kids really enjoyed. Some required an extra charge. I'd recommend registering for the activities when you actually participate to get the discount (I used up my registration slot early by using the link over Wi-Fi the day before, which used up my mobile data). 4. **Water Park:** The room indicated complimentary tickets for two adults and one child. 'Child' means under 120cm, which is already free, so the hotel giving another 'complimentary' ticket felt a bit redundant. There are three pools in total. The largest one had a suitable water temperature, but the two smaller pools were cold. There were children running and playing wildly on the slides, and I suggest staff supervise and remind them to be careful. There are many outdoor hot springs, but one bubble pool was super cold, and the bubbles were covered in dirty mud, with no one cleaning it. There was also a lack of information about the outdoor hot springs; you had to walk to each one to find out the temperature and what kind of spring it was. There was no conditioner in the showers, so I recommend bringing your own. 5. **Kids' Club:** It was quite small, and the provided socks weren't non-slip. The kids played for a bit and then got bored. 6. **Hotel Breakfast:** The wontons were nowhere to be found... but all the bread was delicious! A hot bowl of noodles chased away the autumn chill. The corn porridge was mislabeled as millet porridge. Overall, there wasn't a huge variety of dishes, for example, only two types of cold dishes and two types of fruit. 7. **Service:** Feedback was addressed and handled promptly. This is my second time staying here. I chose the Reber Hotel again for my trip to Beihuan this year. The location is incredibly convenient; after a long day of walking, being able to get back to the hotel for a rest in just a few minutes by taxi is pure bliss. The stay itself was fantastic – the room facilities were great, and the front desk and restaurant staff were all friendly and kind. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to the amusement park, which is a thoughtful touch. Another satisfying and happy trip!

The hotel boasts an elegant environment, making you feel like you have an entire mountain to yourself. Built into the hillside, the two-bedroom suite we booked this time was located mid-mountain. The hotel community has complete facilities, and the main entrance is fenced off with a gate, so the security is reassuring and makes you feel very safe. The shuttle service uses Voyah commercial vans, which are super comfortable! The staff helped with our luggage, which was very thoughtful and attentive. It's about 10 kilometers from Badaling Great Wall, and Shuiguan Great Wall is nearby and not crowded. Juyongguan Great Wall is also conveniently located on the way to Beijing South Station, so we stopped by, making our trip even more rich and fulfilling.

Pros: 1. The hotel is nestled halfway up the mountain, offering fresh air and truly beautiful surroundings. It's a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle, and the hotel's decor and maintenance are quite good. Our butler, Bella, was incredibly meticulous and thoughtful, taking care of every little detail. She met all our needs, making our stay exceptionally comfortable. 2. There's a wide array of facilities and activities, including a mountainside hot spring, indoor pool, Hatha yoga, singing bowl therapy, a gym, and a kids' club. It's perfect for families, and the kids' club is large and newly renovated – it just reopened in May. It's definitely more fun than the kids' clubs at other hotels I've visited. Plus, children aged 4 and up can be supervised for free, which made my little one super happy! 3. The room key card came with a park map, showing hiking trails. There's an easy 5-kilometer mountain boardwalk, perfect for families, where you can visit the Eight Planets viewing platforms. 4. The breakfast was impressive! They had steaks, lamb chops, and a rich variety of both Chinese and Western dishes. However, the cured meats were generally a bit too salty. Cons: 1. For a 5-star hotel, there was no safe in the room. 2. While there's an abundance of kids' activities, most of them come with a fee. 3. Since the kids' club was newly renovated, the smell was quite strong, making my eyes and throat uncomfortable. Overall, we were still very satisfied. I imagine it would be even more atmospheric to visit in winter for the hot springs, though I expect it would be extremely crowded.

The room is very spacious, and the bathroom area is quite large, perfect for a family. There's plenty of room for dining and playing together. The height of the chairs and tables is a bit mismatched; you sink in quite a bit when you sit down. The bunk beds were a hit with the kids. Plus, there's a private indoor hot spring in the room, which is free and quite nice. The hotel breakfast is pretty average, with the variety and taste on par with a 3-star hotel in the city center. The hot spring is connected to the hotel, and you can re-enter until noon the next day by registering your room number. However, you do need to exchange your entry wristband.

This hotel is perfect for a family staycation! We chose a twin room and had them combine the beds, and we pre-booked bed rails. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, making it ideal for families with children. The best part is that it's pet-friendly too! The hotel package also included access to iQIYI Kids' Playground and a hot spring. The kids' playground offered unlimited entry on the day of validation, while the hot spring was a one-time entry. There's an indoor water slide, which is great for older children. It was quite busy during the holiday, and the breakfast queue started forming before 9 AM.

Our experience was exceptional. We reserved a Deluxe Room - With View (Balcony) three months in advance. This reservation included a package comprising breakfast for two, a Simatai Great Wall Day Tour Ticket (inclusive of a round-trip cableway ride), a Beijing Wtown Ticket for two, and a Hot Spring Experience Voucher for two. The package proved to be both valuable and perfectly suited to our needs. The reception staff demonstrated remarkable helpfulness, particularly the individual who assisted us with check-in and resolved an issue. His kindness was greatly appreciated, and we remain grateful for his assistance on that day. If I had the opportunity to return, I would certainly choose Wangjing Tower Boutique hotel again. 🫶🏻✨️🍁

Pros: 1. The hotel is conveniently located near the entrance to Simatai Great Wall. It's easy to access the Wall for hiking, and you can also enjoy views of it from the second floor of the room. The Wall is visible in the distance from the window, making it a secluded retreat away from the hustle and bustle. 2. The hotel offers excellent service. Housekeeping is prompt, and the staff are attentive and welcoming. 3. The duplex suite A is very spacious, perfect for families with elderly members and children. Kids, especially, will love rolling and crawling on the tatami mat. 4. Slippers and bath towels are replaced daily, and complimentary fruit is provided every day. 5. After checking out, I left my headphones in the room. The hotel proactively contacted me and arranged for them to be couriered to me, which I truly appreciate. Cons: 1. The room is very inconvenient for elderly guests with mobility issues. The main bed is on the second floor, making it difficult for them to go up and down. The first floor has a tatami mat, which makes it hard for elderly guests to get up and lie down. If they need to get up at night, they would definitely need assistance. 2. While the room is large, whether the Japanese wabi-sabi style truly suits Chinese guests, especially for a hotel charging 5,000 yuan per night, is a question that needs consideration. The wabi-sabi aesthetic often translates to very sparse furnishings: no comfortable sofas, no bedside tables, no bedside lamps, and certainly no central control panel for all lights and appliances. The tatami mat essentially means sleeping on the floor with a low table, making it very inconvenient and challenging to get up, sit down, or place and retrieve items, which clashes with Chinese living habits. 3. The private hot spring bath in the room only has one switch for hot water, making it impossible to adjust the temperature. Its size is also awkward; it's fine for one person, but feels cramped for two. For a room type designed for six people, such a small bath is quite inconvenient. Furthermore, the inner wall of the bath is made of solid wood, raising concerns about hygiene. 4. The smart toilet was broken and remained unrepaired even after reporting it. 5. The two bedrooms on the second floor, designed to accommodate at least four people, share a single small bathroom, which is a very impractical design. Additionally, the entire Gubei Water Town is not suitable for elderly visitors with mobility issues, especially those in wheelchairs. The flagstone paths are very uneven, and there are many steps, which would make a wheelchair ride extremely bumpy and uncomfortable.

For our Mid-Autumn Festival staycation with our 7-month-old baby, we chose the jungle-themed family room at the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center. Before check-in, our butler, Ms. Silvia, contacted us in advance to arrange a bed rail and connecting beds, and also pre-booked afternoon tea for us. The room was full of childlike charm, and our baby was incredibly curious and captivated by everything. The hotel's lawn was also perfect for playing. The room was clean and hygienic, with a great view, directly overlooking the Liangma River. The staff were enthusiastic, interacting warmly with our baby, and even left small mooncakes during turn-down service. The breakfast, delicatessen, and Paulaner Bräuhaus all offered good quality food. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay! The NUO Hotel boasts a 'modern Ming Dynasty' design style, exuding an oriental charm. Art pieces are thoughtfully integrated throughout the lobby and public areas, creating a beautiful 'step-by-step' scenic experience. The lobby is spacious and elegant, instantly providing a sense of calm and relaxation upon entering. The room was comfortable with meticulous attention to detail; the sunlight filtering through the sheer curtains cast beautiful patterns. The 25-meter long swimming pool had excellent water quality and was very quiet. For lunch, we dined at the Yuan Tea House buffet, where the dishes were exquisite. Check-in at the front desk was efficient and seamless. When we requested a late check-out, a staff member named Amy responded quickly and arranged it perfectly, showing that the hotel highly values its guests' experience. The room was clean and tidy with good lighting, and the bedding was comfortable, ensuring a high-quality rest. The staff were friendly and patiently answered all our questions. The Four Seasons Hotel Beijing is the most convenient hotel for US visa interviews, just a 7-8 minute walk away, and only 4 minutes from Liangmaqiao subway station. You can even enjoy views of the Liangma River from your room. I had some ice cream at the lobby bar on the first floor, and it was absolutely delicious! I also tried the T-bone steak at the Italian restaurant MIO; its design and comfort still hold up today. I had a spa treatment on the 6th floor, though the spa rooms definitely need a renovation! I particularly want to highlight the hotel's excellent service. A very enthusiastic girl at the front desk (who shares an English name with Eason Chan) was particularly helpful. The room was clean and tidy, and the turndown service was very well done. However, the room facilities are quite dated, especially the toilet. If they can't replace the toilet, at least a small shelf for phones would be helpful. Also, the bottled water in the room comes in cans, which might look high-class, but it's very inconvenient for women with long nails – I had to use a spoon to open it every time!

Facilities: Though small, it has everything you need. You can tell they've cut costs to the bone; the bed in the double room is right against the wall, and the towels and toiletries are only for one person. It's suitable for layovers or early/late flights. Hygiene: Clean and odorless. Environment: The soundproofing of the doors is indeed poor. Light sleepers will need earplugs, which I suggest the room should provide. Service: Efficient.

This stay truly exceeded my expectations, and I have to give it a huge thumbs-up! The hotel's location is excellent, making it super convenient for getting around and shopping. The rooms were spotless, incredibly clean and hygienic. What surprised me most was the amazing soundproofing; I couldn't hear any outside noise at night. The bedding was also fluffy and soft – once I lay down, I didn't want to get up, ensuring a fantastic night's sleep. As soon as I arrived in the lobby, a friendly bellboy warmly greeted me and offered to help with my luggage, his cheerful smile instantly brightening my mood. During my stay, the concierge team, especially Xiao Ban, provided impeccable service. Whether it was helping me book a car, carry luggage, or recommend local restaurants, they were always proactive and service-oriented. I brought my parents and child to Beijing for the Mid-Autumn Festival. My mom wanted to visit the Temple of Heaven, my dad wanted to eat Chen Ji braised offal, and my child wanted to see the Tyrannosaurus Rex. It was a busy schedule! The hotel's location is excellent. There's a side entrance less than 20 meters from Dengshikou Subway Station. Dongdan, Wangfujing, and Longfu Temple are all within walking distance. You can city walk and experience the hutongs or go shopping. Famous restaurants like Dongdan Nanmen Shuanrou, Kaorou Liu, and Bianyifang are all conveniently nearby. As an old five-star hotel, the service is top-notch – attentive but not intrusive, very comfortable and proper. The breakfast has a good variety of freshly made items; the scrambled eggs, beef noodles, and waffles were all delicious. The front desk and concierge staff were all very professional and proactive, quick to respond. They truly deserve praise. The pool design is also very thoughtful, with a small hot spring pool. In the morning, when the sun shines on it, it's absolutely beautiful. The steps and stone materials around the pool blend seamlessly with the environment. The family room was originally a corner room with a portable bed added. The portable bed was a bit short and the mattress was soft. Because the hotel is older, the outlets have been retrofitted. You can also see the effort put into maintenance from the cleanliness and attention to detail. However, the facilities are indeed old; the bathroom door was hard to slide open and close, and the cabinet doors were also worn. It's precisely because of its age that we were able to stay at a hotel with this location and service for this price. Very satisfied.

I booked an Executive King Room, and the hotel upgraded me to a suite, which I then upgraded myself to their signature panoramic view room. The view was excellent, offering a 270-degree view from three sides, directly facing the bustling Sanlitun Taikoo Li commercial district. This is one of Beijing's most vibrant areas, with many events, such as the outdoor fashion week happening right downstairs during my stay. The hotel's location is superb, surrounded by malls, bars, and restaurants. There's a constant flow of people and traffic throughout the day and well into the night. The InterContinental Club on the 22nd floor offered morning tea and afternoon tea with fewer crowds and excellent service – even more welcoming and attentive than other hotels. The gym and swimming pool were both good and not crowded at all. The emotional value of standing by the window in the panoramic view room and enjoying the scenery was truly immense. The downside, however, is the price; I wouldn't have been able to afford it if the hotel hadn't given me a discount. Also, the electric curtains on the front and both side panoramic windows are linked, meaning that most of the time, to block out the view of the neighboring guest room from one side, the other panoramic curtain also has to be closed, which is quite frustrating. It would be better if they were manual curtains instead.

When I visited Universal Studios Beijing this time, after doing my research and comparing options, I chose NUO Hotel, and it turns out I made the right choice. Don't let the seemingly greater distance from Universal Studios Hotel deter you; it's actually just a five-minute walk across the street. The room was twice the size, the slippers were incredibly comfortable, and they provided ten small bottles of water plus one large bottle daily... I was truly impressed. I bought a package that included a two-day, one-night stay + double breakfast + 1.5-day park tickets + early park access. This was absolutely worth it. Buying the tickets separately would cost around a thousand yuan, and with early access, it would be about 1,500 yuan. Deducting the breakfast cost, the room itself was effectively only a little over a thousand yuan... and it was so comfortable that I even extended my stay for another day. The extended stay didn't come with complimentary tickets, though, and cost 2,700 yuan. If I had to point out a flaw, it would be how difficult the toiletries were to squeeze out. As someone who works in the skincare and personal care industry, I truly believe such product design shouldn't be found in a five-star hotel... What's going on? Are they trying to prevent guests from using them? The breakfast was unbeatable! I loved the smoked salmon. The restaurant offered a good variety, and the taste was excellent with high-quality fruit. Five-star rating!

The family room is quite spacious for Beijing, which is known for its high property prices. The facilities and equipment are a bit outdated, which isn't what I remember from Shangri-La hotels. This trip was a bit disappointing; my child woke up with mite bites all over their skin and kept complaining about the itch. This shows the hotel didn't clean the beds properly and needs improvement in this area. However, the hotel staff's service was excellent and very warm. My parents had trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi, and with just one phone call, staff came and stayed until it was connected and working. This deserves praise! Also, the hotel lobby features a piano solo in the evenings, which is a nice touch and should definitely be kept.

The location is excellent, right next to Wangfujing, making travel very convenient. As for facilities, the building is a bit old, but well-maintained. However, on the first night, it rained, and I heard water dripping while lying in bed in the middle of the night. The next morning, I saw a lot of standing water on the windowsill. Additionally, the shower often leaks when in use. Regarding service, the staff proactively greeted guests and offered a mail-back service for forgotten items. However, there was an unpleasant experience during checkout. When checking in, I had added executive lounge access for the first day only. But at checkout, the system showed it was added for four days. I explained the situation to the cashier, and even the booking confirmation clearly stated it was only for the first day. Yet, they still had to meticulously re-verify, calling the restaurant and executive lounge to confirm, as if they suspected the customer was trying to cheat. I had to wait a long time; were they going to check video recordings? Regardless of whether Hilton's management is strict or chaotic, they certainly failed in terms of customer satisfaction.
