Gambar Profil Penulis

Hi geng! 👋 It’s your fellow Malaysian here, and I just got back from an unforgettable trip to Taiwan – and I have to share my first travel tip with you: Use the MRT! 🚆

Whether you’re heading to Taipei for bubble tea, street food and shopping 🛍️, or exploring the chilled coastal vibes of Kaohsiung 🌊, the Taiwan MRT map will be your best travel companion. Seriously, it saved me so much time, money, and legwork.

I used the MRT to:

  • Sip bubble tea in Ximending 🍹
  • Catch sunsets at Tamsui Old Street 🌅
  • Soak in hot springs at Beitou ♨️
  • Zoom straight from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei (no traffic jam, syokkk!)
  • Chill by the beach in Kaohsiung’s Sizihwan Bay 🏖️

And the best part? MRT rides are super clean, affordable, and tourist-friendly. Plus, I could pay with just one EasyCard that works across most cities!

If you're planning your first trip (or even your 5th trip!) to Taiwan, this guide to the Taiwan MRT Map will help you travel like a local – and makan like a pro. 🍜😋 I’ll walk you through everything from MRT lines to ticket tips, operating hours, and real routes I used myself.

🏙️ Introduction to the Taiwan MRT

The Taiwan MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is mainly based in Taipei and Kaohsiung, and it’s honestly one of the easiest ways to explore the cities.

In Taipei, it’s like a well-connected underground network that takes you everywhere – from the trendy streets of Ximending, to the beautiful Taipei 101, to the cultural treasures in Beitou and Tamsui. 🏯🌉

It’s super tourist-friendly with:

  • English signage
  • Voice announcements
  • Clean stations
  • Friendly locals who don’t mind pointing you in the right direction

If you’ve used the MRT in Singapore, you’ll feel right at home here (but colder, because aircon everywhere ❄️).

🗺️ An Overview of the Taiwan MRT Lines

If you're like me (a Malaysian who loves to explore stress-free 😄), then the Taiwan MRT Map will be your new best friend. It’s the key to unlocking two of Taiwan’s most exciting cities: Taipei and Kaohsiung. Let me break it down so you know exactly what to expect and where to go.

⏰ Taiwan MRT Operating Hours

The MRT runs daily from around 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM (midnight) – enough for most tourist plans.

⏳ Trains come every 2–5 minutes during peak hours, and around every 7–10 minutes late at night.

📅 Some stations (like Taipei Main Station) have last train notices displayed on big screens – super helpful before catching your final ride.

🚨 If you're out late at night (especially after night markets), just be sure to check the last train timing from your station.

📍 Final Travel Tips for Malaysians:

  • Don’t forget to tap in and out with your EasyCard
  • Try to avoid peak hours (7–9 AM, 5–7 PM) if you don’t like crowds
  • Use Google Maps or the Taipei MRT app for real-time directions
  • Always stand on the right side of the escalator – Taiwan punya etiquette, ok 😄
  • Take the Airport MRT if you’re arriving or departing via Taoyuan ✈️ – fast and super convenient!

💳 EasyCard – The Malaysian Must-Have! 😍

If you're coming to Taiwan, please get an EasyCard. Seriously, don’t waste time buying single trip tokens lah. 😅

You can buy one at:

  • MRT stations
  • Convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart)
  • Taoyuan Airport

💵 Price:

  • Convenience stores 🏪
  • Some attractions and vending machines!

🧠 Tip:

Hold onto it for your next trip – it doesn’t expire for years!

The decor looks a little dated and old especially compared to other 5 star hotel we have stayed in (Grand Hyatt). But the room is spacious and clean. And the price is just right. We got the city view, a small extra but we think it’s worth it compared to the interior view. Location is great, a short walk from the MRT station.

I had a pleasant stay at Sheraton Grand Taipei. The staff were very professional and spoke English well, which made communication smooth. There is a convenient luggage storage service available, which was a big help. The room was clean and well-equipped with essentials such as a hairdryer, drinking glasses, dishes, and complimentary bottled water. However, one point to note is that the lower floor houses the main restaurant, and during lunchtime, the area gets quite busy with tour groups and other guests. As a result, food smells can linger in the elevators and even stick to your clothes when walking past. It would be great if the hotel provided air freshener spray in the room to help with this. The location is excellent, just one stop from Taipei Main Station and within walking distance to the NanXi shopping area, making it extremely convenient for both travel and leisure. Overall, I would definitely recommend Sheraton Grand Taipei for its great location, attentive service, and comfortable stay

Taipei Caesar Metro Hotel is a great choice for travelers looking for convenience and comfort in a quieter area of Taipei. The hotel is located very close to both the MRT and TRA stations, making transportation extremely easy. It’s also just one stop away from Ximen, which is perfect for shopping, food, and sightseeing. There is a supermarket and a night market nearby, making it very convenient for meals, snacks, and daily essentials. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Considering the price, it offers very good value for money, especially if you prefer staying somewhere more peaceful while still being well-connected to the city. Overall, a clean, comfortable, and convenient hotel that I would highly recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect for Families — Comfortable & Convenient Our family had an amazing stay here. The room was spacious enough for all of us, with comfortable beds and thoughtful touches that made our stay relaxing. The hotel’s cleanliness was impressive, and housekeeping did an excellent job each day. Location was ideal — plenty of food choices, convenience stores, and MRT stations nearby. Moving around the city was very easy. What we appreciated most was the warm and friendly service. Staff greeted us sincerely every time and helped with directions, transport bookings, and recommendations. Breakfast was varied and delicious, with options suitable for both adults and kids. Overall, a fantastic choice for families looking for comfort and convenience.

One of the most iconic hotel in Taiwan, especially the Grand Hotel - Taipei, elegant deco all the way from lobby to the room. The Grand Hotel didn't disappoint us, whether the facility, hospitality, entertainment, foods and scenic/view from hotel. Everything was excellent, hotel also have shuttle to nearby MRT station every 30 mins, both driver & staffs were very friendly and helpful. We also did the tour to west gate secret passage, the guide has lot of knowledge about the history and explained the background, history of how the Grand become today's The Grand hotel. We tried two of the restaurants on ground floor next to the lobby, they were both very nice & gave all flavors Taiwan has to offer. We would stay here again next time if we visit again & highly recommend for anyone to try at least once in your lifetime.

Hands down the best hotel during my Taipei trip. It truly lives up to its reputation as Regent's flagship property and a classic ********* hotel. The executive club service was professional and attentive, and the executive lounge offerings were excellent. While the hotel's exterior shows some age, the interiors perfectly embody the standards of a luxury hotel. Additionally, the outstanding dining experience and the unique boutique gallery business model left a very strong impression.

The location of this hotel is great as is situated directly opposite Taiwan Station. Many undergone shops connected directly from hotel elevator. Within walking distance to shin kong mitukoshi mall and many eatery nearby the hotel. On a side note - hotel running on thin manpower. Front office quite clearly shortage of staff and no proper direction which counter for check-in and check-out. Some of the staff onsite in suits does not marshal guests around. they simply stood there even the traffic was really heavy over the weekend. From my observation, room service seems like manning with minimum manpower to serve and run a hotel with 400 rooms capacity. ? Over in laundry room - for a designated hotel with 400+ rooms > only has 1 washing machine and 1 dryer. This need to be improved. Everyone were queing and we need to run backforth many times. Remember hospitality industry is to serve with a HEART. The room was spacious and clean but we noticed the paint on our room ceiling was half done - joke aside we were wondering they run out of paints.

The location is excellent, just above the metro station and there are lots of nice restaurants, convenience store nearby. I have stayed here for quite many times. The room is spacious, however I could see quite much of dusts on some part of the rooms the time , eg light switch, bedside table. The bed and washroom looked clean (which mattered most for me), I didn’t really stay in the room a lot, so I didn’t request for room change or extra cleaning.

Sure! Here's a lighthearted and positive hotel review with a fun twist: --- *”A Stay So Smooth, Even My Alarm Clock Took a Vacation!”* If you're a traveler who just wants the basics done, clean room, comfy bed, hot shower, and Wi-Fi that doesn’t play hide and seek. This place is your jackpot. The location? Smack dab in the middle of everything. I stepped out and walk a bit and boom food, fun, and a pharmacy (because you never know). Staff were friendlier than my GPS, and the check-in was faster than my morning coffee brewing. Honestly, I came for a place to crash and ended up low-key considering extending my stay just to enjoy the peaceful vibes and people-watching from the lobby. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I bring snacks next time? Also yes, because midnight cravings are real.

This hotel is a good location if you are coming to watch concert given that Taipei arena is right opposite within 1 traffic light away. I’m surprised and happy that they allowed us to check in early and we did it via self service check in kiosk. Hotel location is easy accessible within nearby metro and is also 2 station away from Songshan if you need to take a TRA to 九份. Surrounding with breeze mall and ikea right beside it and the best of all 7-11 mart is right in level 1 within the hotel without having you to walk all the way out if you need last minute supper or drinks. As this is an eco friendly hotel, hence no mineral water is given but flasks are provided to fill water via their water dispenser near the lift lobby and not to forget their coffee are provided in capsule with coffee machine instead of packet. Overall, I’m very pleased with the service, cleanliness, big room and hotel location. 😁

I had an excellent stay at the Grand Hyatt Taipei. The location is unbeatable—right next to Taipei 101 and in the heart of the Xinyi district, making it so convenient for sightseeing, shopping, and dining. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm and attentive. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, and the staff always greeted me with a smile. My room was spacious, very clean, and well-designed, with a comfortable bed and a great view of Taipei 101. Housekeeping kept everything spotless during my stay. Breakfast was another highlight—the buffet had a wide variety of delicious choices, both Western and Asian, and everything was fresh. I also appreciated the hotel facilities, especially the gym and pool, which were well maintained. Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt Taipei for anyone visiting the city. overall, it was an average experience. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with surprisingly good soundproofing that made it easy to rest. I also appreciated the in-room coffee machine, which was a convenient touch for a quick morning pick-me-up. However, being located in the basement made the room feel a bit dark, and the bathroom facilities could be more modern, as the toilet was not a washlet. The breakfast offered was quite limited, and the service left something to be desired. While the staff were present, they did not proactively check on guests or offer assistance, and there was little interaction or friendliness. Simple gestures like greetings, smiles, or help with luggage were missing, which made the overall experience feel less welcoming. Additionally, during breakfast, food was cleared promptly at the set time without asking if guests were still eating or wanted more, which could have been handled more thoughtfully. On the positive side, the hotel provides the essentials for a short stay, and the rooms are quiet and functional. For travelers prioritizing comfort and a clean environment, this hotel is acceptable, but I feel that improved hospitality and more attention to guest experience would make a significant difference. Service really matters in hospitality, and it’s the area where this property could improve the most.

This is a locally owned hotel and, although rated as a four-star property, it feels more like a three-star international chain hotel. The staff do not greet guests proactively and tend to respond only when spoken to. Even when thanked, they often remain unresponsive, which was rather disappointing. The hotel has a distinct 1990s vibe which is dated, but equipped with all the basic facilities one might need. Breakfast was quite unappealing, and the coffee was especially disappointing as it was served from a pot rather than freshly ground. That said, the location is excellent and just a few minutes’ walk from the rail system, with plenty of eateries and convenience stores nearby. From a pricing perspective, it’s reasonable value for money, and I wouldn’t mind staying here again, provided expectations are managed accordingly.

The location of the hotel is just right in the city center. If you would like to travel by subway, it’s an easy 7 minute walk. It’s a very small hotel without pool. First room category is quite small. If you stay 2 people will be very tight, no space to walk. Breakfast is not something to expect but they have smoked salmon which is quite nice. Had a very pleasant stay overall! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the front desk staff were genuinely helpful and friendly throughout our trip. However, the on-site laundry facilities were a bit of a letdown and felt misleading. The instructions suggested automatic detergent dispensing, but none was provided during our wash cycle — we ended up rinsing clothes in 70°C plain hot water, and they still came out smelling stale (needless to say, not ideal!). The dryer was another issue: it has a ‘cool off’ period of about 6 minutes every cycle, interrupting the drying process. If you insert NT$10 coins one at a time, you’d only get around 4 minutes of actual drying before it cools again. This wastes a lot of time and money, often leaving clothes damp. Tip for future guests: Insert 4-5 coins (NT$40-50) all at once for longer continuous drying and better results. These are small fixes that could make the laundry much more convenient — otherwise, a solid hotel!

The room's cleanliness was decent, and the service was good. You can self check-in, and there's a common area where you can sit and use your laptop. ✅ Final Thoughts – Why the Taiwan MRT Map is Your Travel Power Tool

After spending several days zipping around Taiwan with just an EasyCard and the MRT map in my hand, I can honestly say this: Taiwan’s MRT system is one of the best in Asia – especially if you're a fellow Malaysian who loves clean, efficient, and affordable transport (plus who wants to avoid traffic and language stress, right? 😅).

From the bustling city streets of Taipei to the laid-back charm of Kaohsiung, the MRT helped me:

  • ✅ Save money (fares are super affordable – cheaper than kopi premium!)
  • ✅ Reach top attractions without needing a taxi or Grab
  • ✅ Enjoy a comfortable ride in air-conditioned trains (perfect after walking under hot sun ☀️)
  • ✅ Travel safely at night (stations are well-lit and secure)
  • ✅ Eat my way through Taiwan, one MRT stop at a time 🍜🧋

Seriously, if you’re heading to Taiwan soon, download the Taiwan MRT map, get yourself an EasyCard, and you’re all set to explore like a pro! Whether it’s for food hunting, sightseeing, or just soaking in the vibes of this beautiful island – the MRT will take you there, easily.
