I actually enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The staff are very accommodating and welcoming. I stayed in a room with mix men and women. I was surprised at first if I am in the wrong room because when I went in the room there were women. I just confirmed that it was the right room when I saw another male. So, 2 males 4 females. They were actually very kind and they respect each other for example they do not disturb another person because he/she might be resting. It is also good to meet other people of different nationalities. They have a kitchen that we can use. I had 2 breakfasts and it was pretty much a bonus for me. Breakfast was good. They also have their own bar where you cane eat and drink. Overall, amazing!

Easy check in and check out. Simply download their mobile app to receive a virtual key to your room, or check in in person at the Banff Caribou Hotel and Spa. When checking out, just dial ”0” to the front desk, leave the card in the room and you're good to go :) The room has been renovated and is clean and modern. They have microwave, mini fridge and kettle. You can also take away their mug as a souvenir for free. In the bathroom, they offer Rocky Mountain Soap Company products that are handmade and vegan. If you like them, you can go to their stores in Canmore or Banff, or order directly online.

It was a great stay and the hotel is very cozy the lobby of the hotel is the best, great view and its has a fire place. Such a relaxing stay. I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

This Inn is located very near West Edmonton Mall, with 5 mins drive. This is a no-frill inn, with all you need. However, keep in mind it is really easy to hear somone talking in the corridor, so please the voice down to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay.

LOVE the antique vibe and all the decorations were attention to details xo Spacious, clean, and comfy! Surprisingly quiet despite it was built on top of the pub. Front desk is NOT 24h available so make sure everything you needs are set before they close front desk. I walk from downtown to get there, 25mins walking. It was nice day so I didn’t mind but recommend to drive there.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful, with some good tips on where to go and what to do - was pointed towards some great MTB trails. Kitchen was always cleaned thoroughly after breakfast, the rooms were cleaned regularly and the shower is good. Stayed in a mixed dorm for a week and had a couple of small issues with a ”princess” in the bunk above me - and mentioned it to the staff, who said they would have a word if required. The ”princess” left - so there was no need for them to intervene - but it was good to know that they won't put up with disruptive guests. Location is a short (10min) flat walk from the very centre of Banff - so couldn't ask for a better location.

We loved our stay at this hotel! Friendly receptionists, clean rooms, lots of towel bars to hang up our towels (rare in hotels) and spacious room. The first picture on their website shows old comforters but we had nice clean white sheets……no old comforter. We ate both dinners in their pub style restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. This is a great place to stay if you are visiting Jasper Park. Prices are much more reasonable here. We would stay here again.

I was very pleased with our stay. The lady at the front desk was helpful by allowing us to check in earlier. The breakfast was delicious. I would stay there again.

Best priced accoms in banff during summer, very well equiped with shower gel, hot water, hair dryer, laundry, cafe for breakfast and dinner. Hostel provides free roam transit bus pass for routes 1, 2, 4, 6 and is valid for 3 days, very useful to get to town and around even lake minnewanka, two jack, johnson and cascade ponds! Comfortable room, top notch service.

Terrible Service. Just be prepared to wait around Canmore all day with you suitcases! I arrived early (10am) - asking for their advertised early check in at 1pm (which they charge for) I was told they can't do it (lazy or cheap, clearly means they leave cleaning rooms to the last minute) Not only is there no early check in, there is nowhere to eve store bag or suitcases while you wait for 4pm. No lobby, no common area, no where to wait. So you just have to go. bye. I even asked, If I could just store my bags in the room while I wait for it to be cleaned. They were even unable to accommodate this simple request. (It is their ”policy”, when asked why I was told because it is their policy lol) So defacto their policy is also to burden their customers with having to wait around all day with suitcases and have never once had the forethought to attempt to solve this issue. When I asked for the the managers number I was told ”I am the manager” and there wasn't anyone else I could pass my disappointment on to. Completely out of touch and service is a symptom of a high market. Why offer service... when people have no choice.. Won't stay again

Absolutely loved this place! We arrived here late at night after making a last minute booking because of the awful fires in Jasper where we were originally staying. We had a gorgeous old world charm room with a balcony overlooking the mountains. The bed was huge and super comfy, bathroom lovely, with gorgeous toiletries made locally. The breakfast each morning was fab and always different. Coffee and tea available 24 hrs a day. The whole place was beautifully decorated, old world charm. A massive shout out to the girls who cooked, cleaned and gave out advice - you were amazing! Ten minute walk into the very cute town of Canmore and a great base for exploring.

Perfect location as slap bang in the middle of the main street and has everything available around it to you, close to bus stops,shops,restaurants and trails. A self service hostal so can't comment on service as you serve yourself. Kitchen available but can be cramps due to other people in the hostel using it and limited cooking room if someone else is using it. Would use again

Amazing! Perfect location and amazing staff. Will absolutely be my go to for the next stay. Rooms were clean, the balcony view was also great. Pub on site with live music. Housekeeping were also lovely. I couldn’t think of a fault for the price. Thank you.

This property is very well managed with a high attention to detail by the manager. The staff is very friendly and remember you from previous visits. Breakfast area is large with a large array of breakfast items. Staff is attentive! Rooms are clean, spacious, well appointed. There is lots of restaurants and shopping close by. I will be rebooking at the Quality Inn Edmonton West on my next visit.

I have always stayed in this hotel. The owner is very welcoming. Except for the poor sound insulation, everything else is fine.

You get what you paid for. If you are looking for a very affordable place to stay and your only concern is your budget then this is your go to place in Edmonton area. Location wise, it is in an odd place and there aren't shops close to this location so you'll have to go out and drive if you need to buy something. With regards to service, they went above and beyond my requests and are super friendly and welcoming. I requested for a portable heater because they have no way to adjust the heat temp in each room (it's centralized) and they offered me this option for free. Their TVs are smart TV and I'm super amazed because you don't get this in bigger 3 star hotels where you pay almost double the price of what you pay here! You will just have to request in the front desk for the TV's remote control if you want to use the smart tv features like logging in on your streaming apps or casting/mirroring videos from your phone or tablets to the TV's screen..

This was a convenient place for us to stay, close to our niece for a visit. The staff were very nice, welcoming and friendly. However, the Inn is very old and it shows. It needs fresh carpets, paint and although the lady preparing the free breakfast was wonderful, the facilities and variety of food was very poor. It was set up in what appeared to be a converted hotel room on the 3rd floor, so not very roomy for the number of guests attending. There was pancakes, toast, boiled eggs, some yogurt and fruit and coffee. We didn't bother, especially as there was a lineup out into the hallway.

I previously stayed here back in 1999. I remember the receptionist told me off when I got there because I did not prebook with a long lecture. This was in the days when you had to find a pay phone and ring and book, and Via Rail who normally arrive around 11 were in the habit of arriving sometimes a day late.   This time the complete opposite experience happened when had to suddenly detour to Edmonton after Via Rail informed those of us on board that Jasper had been evacuated due to fire and the train was stopping in Saskatoon before returning to Winnipeg. Finding free Wi-fi at a petrol station the bus stopped at for five minutes I was able to book a room (although it's a lengthy process the HI Canada site needs to cut this down for this sort of scenario). A lot of stressed people arriving at the hostel were in this situation having fled from Jasper or trying to work out what to do if on way, and the awesome female staff member on reception handled this busy situation extremely professionally and efficiently. She also helped out later that night whenever approached the receoptin desk with advice on which bus stop was closer or easier to get to, to catch a bus to Calgary (to get to Canmore/Banff (which were selling fast). She waited until the booking went through for the bus in case I had to work something else out before processing extending my stay at HI Edmonton another night so I could keep the same bed. The hostel itself is great, although a little utilitarian in decor like a lot of HI hostels f, but really who cares about that. Full length lockers in room to fit 90L backpack Great free Wi-fi (which was needed after bus and Via Rail not having any). Dorm bed (in mixed dorm) was very comfortable. It is in a residential neighbourhood on the southern side of the river but only a couple of blocks walk to a city bus to Southgate Transit Centre (local buses cost $3.50 by the way). Downtown stop for intercity buses, local bus stop even closer. Easy walk across the river on High Level Bridge (a few blocks north) to downtown. Supermarket close as well. You get free various flavours of Kelluggs Nutrigrain breakfast bars or porridge for breakfast. There's a games room with pool tables, a TV room, both of which no one used while I was there. A living room type thing (got used a lot), kitchen. Plenty of places to plug in and charge devices.
