We stayed here the night before traveling to Milford Sound early the following AM. The check-in process was easy and the location is good, near walking paths and beautiful views, it’s just a short walk into town. The room itself is nice, a tad bit outdated compared to other hotels on our NZ trip but didn’t bother us. The room was clean, had a nice kitchen area, sitting area, TV, and patio area outside. The bathroom had a towel warmer and heat lamp. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for your luggage, perfect for a small family or couple. Parking is literally right outside your doorway. Great convenience and easy for a quick morning getaway without making much noise. We ate at the Bailiez Cafe and Bar in town. Although you will see many options for food, if you don’t make a reservation beforehand (like us), you will have to wait until the evening rush is done to eat. We waited an hour and a half to eat, but the wait was worth it as the food was great and the staff was able to get us an appetizer and drinks while we waited, which helped immensely as we hadn’t eaten that day. The spicy potato wedges and Smoked Salmon fettuccini were especially good. We recommend this restaurant for anyone staying in Te Anau.

This motel is run and operated by a lovely couple, Mary & Nigel who take care of your every need before you arrive during the booking process, and then once you arrive at their motel they offer warm, friendly service. The room was absolutely lovely. Very large king studio on the 2nd floor. It was quiet, very well appointed, and super comfortable. We have found king beds rare in NZ so it was a very nice treat for us. The location is great. A very short 1 min walk to the lake, and about 3 mins walk across the park into the town centre. Nice to be able to park the car and walk to bars and restaurants. Would certainly stay again and highly recommend.

A comfortable stay at a very reasonable rate. Good sized rooms. Helpful staff. We stayed here after having to evacuate my niece from Milford Track. We needed a quiet place with comfy beds. The Village Inn delivered. The Inn is very close to the medical centre and the town centre.

Warm, spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable I've had on this trip, the heat pump had the room toasty on arrival. Kitchenette was perfect and had everything I needed to cook a meal. Gorgeous view of the lake and town, very close to the bird sanctuary and and easy walk to the centre. Feels separate from the holiday park and a really good value for money deal.

We arrived to find our key sellotaped to the office door. Turns out the office isn't staffed any more. This wasn't particularly a problem, but it meant that things like borrowing dvds wasn't possible (and TV was poor, so we would have liked to have borrowed one). Also, the motel book in the room said that the room would be serviced every day ( not to make beds, but to empty bins and provide additional tea and coffee supplies). Our room was not serviced during our stay. Room was ok, but very tried looking. The room slept 4 people and had cooking facilities, but we had just 1 bowl, 2 plates and cutlery for 2. None of the crockery or cutlery matched, which just gave the impression of being uncared for and tired. There was a broken chair outside the bedroom door with the previous occupants cigarette butts in. Gardens for all motel rooms are joined, so we returned back from a day out to find that the man next door was using our chairs to dry his washing on! We could see that the motel is up for sale and it felt like the owners had lost interest. Location was very good, just one road back from the lake ( and easy access to the lake via a gennel).

Good hotel clean and conveniently located, free coffee and tea. Restaurant/pub downstairs can be a bit busy and you can hear the noise from the room upstairs though.

Would thoroughly recommend this well located place. This was our third stay here and, again, we were completely satisfied with every aspect of our visit. The apartment was clean, well stocked with all the essentials, and had a perfect view over Lake Te Anau. The price was, by a considerable margin, the best value for money of all the places we stayed during our 5-week New Zealand holiday. Feel certain the negative reviews dating back to 2018 must relate to when the place was under different ownership. The staff we encountered were welcoming, efficient, and ready and willing to deal with any questions or queries. If booking, would recommend specifically requesting a first floor apartment with lake view.

Great service and accommodation. We were here for Christmas and New Year with our family. The room was extremely nice and clean. Daily room service provided with everything you needed. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, make us feel at home. We would definitely come back.

Wonderful motel, clean, comfortable, and quiet! Lovely decor, felt like a luxury hotel room! We loved it. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We needed to do laundry, they happily gave us the change needed and showed us the laundry and soap. So convenient. It was a very short walk to the lakefront and downtown. We would heartily recommend to everyone!
