Great location with sea/mountain views on one side and harbour views on the other. Rooms appear recently refurbished. Lots of parking and within walking distance of Hofn restaurants (we went to Pizzeria). Bar area in reception with outside patio terrace seating. Great breakfast with hot and cold buffet. No lift to first floor but luggage assistance offered.

This is one of the best hotels we stayed in this trip! Beautiful! In the middle of nowhere! Room - comfortable and everything you needed is provided! Love the atmosphere! Breakfast provided! We ate dinner which was delicious! Beautiful scenery from every room!

Very disappointing stay in June 2023. We were supposed to stay for two nights but left after only one. Our room was very clean and had a lot of storage space but as we laid down to go to sleep we noticed a large patch of black mold way up in a corner of the ceiling. We tried to switch rooms then but the hotel was full. My daughter and I both have a severe mold allergy and in the morning we were both symptomatic. After breakfast I noticed paint marks on the ceiling where someone had previously tried to cover up the mold. Looking outside we saw a massive hole in the roof right over our room that could let even more water in. The breakfast hostess and manager were both very kind and apologetic. They said they knew about the issue and offered to let us change our room. Knowing that there was such a significant problem with one room made us skeptical about the other rooms and we decided to leave. It also left a bad taste in our mouths that the owner would rather cover up a health hazard instead of fixing it. In short, this hotel needs some repairs. If you can avoid room 116 you’ll probably have an ok stay. Other than the mold we didn’t have an issue with service, cleanliness, breakfast, or noise.

Great location and nice view from our king room with river view. Bed was comfy and room was very clean. Desk personnel were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I can't comment on the value, as it was part of a package tour as prices were not broken out of total, but we would definitely stay there again. We had prepaid for breakfast, which was excellent, but we did not otherwise dine at the hotel restaurant, so can't comment on that.

Parents- read this to protect your children! Our travel agent booked this hotel. After doing some research, I discovered that it has 4 out of 5 stars (which is exactly what the owner states on their TV station that is played in a continuous loop in the rooms-odd). I was hoping that 4 stars wasn't correct. After staying there, I discovered that it should be 2-3 star hotel. I give it 3 for the following positives: It was clean, there's plenty of parking, and it's easy to find. The ”garden” area is more like a patio area. There's a few tables and chairs and a make-shift basketball court. Also, the breakfast is great. There is a lot of selection:fruit, breads, eggs, bacon, waffles, and more. The negatives: The hotel boasts about having hot tubs and saunas. This is true, however, one of the hot tubs in the garden is not hot at all. It's cooler than bath water. Also, the employees aren't overly friendly. They aren't rude, but they definitely don't have a ”welcome” sort of attitude. The food at the restaurant was over-priced and not good. (I had the steak and paid $50 for it. It was not very hot and very tough.) The hotel is very large and there are a lot of people staying. (Think your bus loads of people). Here's the part for parents: take caution! The showers change temperatures more often than the weather in Iceland! My husband went first and warned me. It goes from the temperature you set it for and then goes to cold and immediately to scalding hot! It could seriously burn someone!! I'm sure this happens often as I have seen it in other hotels because there are too many guests staying there

This was a surprise weekend away for my wife as it was her birthday. We have never been to Iceland before so it was an opportunity to broaden our horizons, the hotel was amazing, we were made to feel so welcome by all the staff from the initial check in right the way through to our early morning departure The restaurant service was amazing, they were so attentive, the food was delicious and even thinking about it now is making my mouth water. The overall venue is fantastic, it's a series of buildings, ours had 6 bedrooms and at the end there was a kitchen/chill out area that then leads out to a raised deck with two hot tubs that were for all of this building. We were so impressed with the venue, the staff and all the facilities, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we hope to return there again in the future

We stayed here as the mid-point stop on our way to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. It is true that because it’s one of the larger hotels in the area, it is used by large tour groups, but that did not interfere with our stay at all. It is a roadside hotel, don’t expect any luxuries, but perfect for a one or two night stay. The rooms are very spacious and clean (because it’s a busy hotel, your room may not be ready before check-in time). The restaurant is large and they were able to accommodate us with no problem for dinner, and their breakfast buffet (included in the rate) is fantastic. It also has a great view. The location is great, close to Dyrholaey, Vik and Reynsfjara (black sand beach). Pro-tip: if you have dirty laundry, they will do it for you for about $25 per bag regardless of the size. I thought it was expensive so didn’t do it, and regretted it - everywhere else was either more expensive or didn’t offer the service at all. The staff works so hard - I saw the same person cleaning my room helping out at the restaurant, and everyone was very pleasant.

We’ve stopped off at this guesthouse a number of times when we visit Vestrahorn. Every time we have been impressed with the cleanliness and comfort on offer. You get a lot for a very little price and it’s what keeps us coming back year after year. Breakfast is basic and consists of cereals and yoghurts but it’s included in your room rate. The guest house has a very hostel type vibe to it but that just adds to the pleasure of staying here.

We stayed for two nights at this place in the yellow house by the sea. We were on the lower floor in a two bedroom flat. Everything was just perfect and very clean. The mattresses were comfortable and the flat had a fully functional kitchen, but we had our breakfast (included) in the main building and also two dinners which were delicious and not expensive. The staff were attentive and we learned a lot about the farm from the hotel manageress. Do look at the museum (free of charge for guests) in the main building. It explains the live of a famous Icelandic author who was very avant garde and original. The access was good in the yellow house. You walk straight in

Super clean and easily accseble little guesthouse in the middle of höfn. Clean bathrooms and lovely common room. Enjoyed my stay througly! Very near every restaurant in Höfn. Beachwalkway easily found.

The Old Airline Guesthouse is an extremely nice guesthouse at a great value. It is situated strategically between two of Iceland most majestic sites, the Vatnajökull Glacier/Iceberg Lagoon and Hvalnes Nature Reserve. The Old Airline Guesthouse owner and host Sigga was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I had a small but awesome room with a view overlooking the Hofn bay area. Patrons can also enjoy a similar view in the upstairs common area. Local shops and restaurants are within walking distance. A continental breakfast is included in your stay. Being a guesthouse you do share a bathroom, other than that the Old Airline Guesthouse is truly a gem worth staying.

Clean, spacious, well equipt, family friendly and good customer service! 😊 Tough times are a blessing in disguise, it always reveals the true color of the people around us. We planned to stay in 2020 however Covid happened. Team was very understanding and accommodating to our predicament. It was a happy surprise to find premise exceeding our expectations too! Shoes are well organised with rack and oraginsers neatly stacked at entrance. Reception was friendly and informative. Room was clean and neat. In room wash basin was a big plus! There were 2 spacious and well equipt WCs to our section of 6-8rooms. 2 spacious dining areas, 1 large double fridge, 1 single fridge, spacious well equipt kitchen with various prep tables and 2-3+ sinks, pots/pans of various sizes, kitchen towels, utensils, cutleries, hot water dispenser, toaster, coffee percolator, sandwich press, oven, microwave, beverages and absolutely all one needs in the kitchen and more are furnished. It is also children friendly with baby chair, cot and safe play area provided. Rooms are well sectioned with family rooms assigned at the back, away from the hustle and bustle. There are also rooms in basement. There is also a washer/dryer and small drying rack at the far end, past kitchens and book cabinet with reading materials for the avid reader. We had a good comfortable night stay and hope you do too! 🙂

1.) This is NOT a 3 star hotel. The accommodations are very meager. 2.) The staff did NOT warn us about the Sandflies in the area upon check in. By midnight, our room was infested with these bugs that bite and itch. We had to leave in the middle of the night to make our return to Reykjavik to escape this situation. 3.) There was a bunch of horse dung outside our window as well that was disgusting and likely exasperated the sand fly problem. I emailed the owners and never heard a response.

This hotel is in need of a renovation to bring it up to standard - especially for what they are charging. Whilst our room was a good size, and very light with an abundance of windows, we were on the second floor - yet with a small hill outside our window, you could see straight into our room. A little disconcerting when a cemetery sat at the top of that hill. There is no lift in the hotel, and all rooms require at least one set of stairs, with no assistance from staff. An elderly couple arrived as we did, and there was no-one to help them up to their room with their cases. The bed was very comfortable, but the curtains did not completely cover the windows, and with 24 hour light during summer a total blockout is necessary - thankfully we had eye-masks, but the constant light in the room was still not great for a good sleep. This was one of the most expensive hotels we had in Iceland, and was well below the standard of some of our other stays.
