Hotel berhampiran De Outdoor School, Amsterdam

DO NOT STAY HERE, there are many reasons this hotel is terrible, such as stains on towels and sheets and very thin walls (you can hear EVERYTHING). But the main reason is that when we showered our hotel room flooded, I had a shower late at night and there was abit of water on the bathroom floor as it was around 2 am in the morning I left it then my friend had a shower in the morning and the whole floor flooded getting all are stuff on the floor wet. 5 mins after my friend got out the shower the staff stormed in to our room and started shouting at us. We trued to explain to them what happened and they just didn’t listen. Then they told us to leave so they could clean so we did, about an hour later they called us and told us to get our stuff and leave (they were kicking us out) even though we still had another night we paid for. They still haven’t given us our money. We will be taking this further as what they’ve done is illegal. Trust me don’t not stay here unless you want rude staff and horrible conditions. Also it’s a 2 hour and 30 minute walk to the town centre and a 30 minute walk to the closest bus stop.

Perfect hotel, lovely staff! However this was closer to the airport when we were having to travel to the city centre every day! However this is a regular bus that comes every 10 minutes

Would rate it lower if I could. The room was terrible. It was small and there was next to one space to store clothes, and while this didn't bother me for my 2 night stay, it would be really inappropriate for any longer stay. Toilet and shower are shared with many other rooms and are poorly kept. Cracked tiles, random empty bottles of shampoo and condition etc just left in a pile on the floor. There is a sink in the room, but our tap was cracked and sprayed water out the side when you turned it on. There is also a lot of noise outside, as late as even 11pm and with our window broken, we couldn't close it properly to help shut out some of the noise. Food in the bar below is good but VERY expensive for what you get. We also paid for breakfast included and it was nice to help yourself to bread, a toaster, some crackers, deli meat and cheese but... it was just stuff that they bought from the Lidl literally right across the road, about 20 metres away. Not worth how much they were charging for it. They also double charged us and are refusing to give a refund. We spoke to staff at the time and they all seemed friendly and happy to help but couldn't do anything. It was all ”Oh, I'll text the person who is doing the breakfast tomorrow”. She didn't. And when we explained it to the person on breakfast her only suggestion was also to text a co-worker. They took our details and said they'd email us about it. They didn't. We had to chase them up with multiple emails which they all ignored, so we emailed the company through whom we booked the stay. They contacted Abina who claimed that they'd already sent the refund through. They hadn't, which we have proven with bank statements. They still haven't. As of writing this it's been 6 weeks since our stay. No refund and extremely poor communication from Abina through and through. Absolute worst hotel experience to date. Don't stay here.

I'm surprised by some of the poor reviews here and on other websites. It is clear that some people do no research before booking, had they done so they wouldn't be shocked you cannot wear swimwear in the spa on Friday - Monday and that the hotel isn't in central Amsterdam. We knew all of this before we arrived as we did our research first. Transport in Amsterdam is so efficient there are several, trams, trains to get you into central Amsterdam, all about 12 minutes walk from the hotel with a total travel time of about 35 minutes from the hotel to downtown. The fitness centre is huge so great for those that wish to continue their gym routine when away from home. The spa has a huge array of steam rooms and saunas, an indoor/outdoor pool, plunge pools and jacuzzis and a spa restaurant. The weather wasn't great when we were there but when the sun shines there is plenty of outdoor space and sun loungers to get an all over tan (Friday - Monday). We spent hours at the spa each afternoon, a great way to recover after an early gym session and a few hours of sightseeing. We stayed Thursday to Sunday and I must say the atmosphere at the spa was better on Friday - Sunday (no swimwear days). The breakfast was ok, we had lunch at the spa twice and both days the food was very good. I would recommend the Premium Rooms in the newest block, modern and comfortable, very good for this standard of hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had a great time and are looking at dates to return soon.

This was the second time I visited the Netherlands and the second time I stayed at this hotel as my first stay was in 2017. I will not hesitate to stay there again when I visit the Netherlands in the future. The hotel made my trip in the Netherlands more enjoyable. Thank you to the Turkish receptionist. She was helpful. Although the location and the shuttle bus is convenient for travellers from Schiphol Airport, the shuttle bus is never according to the schedule (about 10~15mins delay for the bus to show up). The hotel rooms themselves are fairly decent. Cleanliness is alright. Amenities such as body soaps were not refilled when we checked in. The hotel has 2 restaurants and a bar but are all very loud, chaotic and in no way shape to relax and enjoy a meal. The restaurant workers were clearly overwhelmed and frustrated that they reflected that towards paying customers by being quite rude. Would stay there again if I need to for the price & location but preferably not.

Free shuttle available to and fro airport and hotel, however, as there are many Ibis group hotels shared the same service, you may not be able to get on board the bus and have to wait for the next shuttle scheduled time which is an hour or more later. It's not pleasant if the weather is no good. Good that they have a cafe provide good breakfast at the hotel for a price.

A 15 minute walk from the closest tram station. A safe nice walk though, goes through a college campus i think, lots of 20 year olds. Check in and out was very easy. The room was small but very clean, though no windows. Had AC and good amenities.

Staff is super friendly. Every time when we went down to lobby, they would ask if we need any drinks. We got tea, coffee, orange juice, and sometimes croissant and fruit for free. The room we stayed was quite small. There are nearby tram stops but you need to walk at least one block. Overall it was a nice stay. We often visited the park nearby and enjoyed the nice neighborhood.

I chose this hôtel as I was travelling from the UK to see Dépêche Mode at the Ziggo Dome. And stayed two nights. Jaz in the City is just steps away from the Ziggo entrance so you can’t get any closer! It’s also great as a base for Amsterdam sightseeing. From the airport there’s a direct train (hotel is a 10-15 min walk from Bijlmer ArenA station). You can also hop on the metro here for a 20 min ride to Centraal. As Amsterdams public transport is so good (compared to Bristol in the UK where I live) you can confidently rely on it to get you wherever you need to be efficiently! Staff at the hotel are super friendly and helpful. From front desk, bar, restaurant and housekeeping. Everyone (thankfully) spoke English which is ideal for me as I can just about say hello and thank you in Dutch! Special shout out to Mr Omelette Maker at breakfast. The perfect start to a day of sightseeing!! I’m sure they’re are cheaper options but I’m of an age where I understand that you get what you pay for. This hotel in my opinion is great. It looks good, is super clean and well maintained and importantly ＜feels＞ good.
