We stayed at the Hotel Montane in September at the end of a walk across Andorra, and we were a bit disappointed. It seems to be a hotel that tries to hit a budget price point, but is dated and has some odd policies. A 20euro returnable deposit for the remote control for the in-room TV? No thanks. The hotel website suggests in-room tea and coffee making facilities. Nope, just basic a machine in the hotel lobby where you're watched over by the receptionist. The hotel website also suggests the hotel has a top-class restaurant. Not when we were there! Perhaps it was low season (there were only two couples staying at the time) and so they couldn't be bothered, but the set 3-course food we had didn't match the website spiel. The waitress was friendly enough but couldn't provide a jug of tap water, the wine list was only by the bottle, couldn't provide a coffee after the meal and instead just said use the machine in the lobby. The food itself was hearty but basic, not the experience expected. The breakfast was a bit different in that the buffet selection was already on the table. That may have been because there were only two couples at breakfast, but there was far too much available due to having to provide a wide selection. But they must have had quite a bit of wastage, or they re-used the food which is a bit off-putting. The seeded baguette was nice though! The room was ok, but dated in décor and style, and overall a bit tired and tatty.
