This hotel is situated on a spacious property, secluded from the town center and shops. While it features public baths and an on-site restaurant, The dinner and breakfast offered a delightful blend of Western and Japanese dishes, typical of most Japanese hotels. Our twin room, though a bit compact, provided a comfortable overnight stay. All amenities provided were satisfactory for a one-night stay, leaving no room for complaints. As most establishments in the vicinity close after 5 PM (except for convenience stores), there isn't much to do at the hotel besides enjoying the onsen. Therefore, be prepared for an early night in.

Situé à proximité de la gare d’Aso, l’hôtel Marriott offre une expérience moderne et confortable. Son emplacement pratique facilite l’arrivée, avec un parking disponible. Les chambres, conformes aux standards Marriott, offrent un confort appréciable, et la literie assure des nuits reposantes. L’équipe, professionnelle et serviable, distille d’excellentes recommandations. Cependant, il est sage de vérifier la disponibilité des restaurants suggérés, surtout en soirée à Aso, une ville parfois limitée en options. Ce qui distingue cet hôtel est son rapport qualité/prix correct (environ 14kyens la nuit), même pendant les périodes de forte demande comme les fêtes de fin d’année. I recently had the pleasure of staying at ASO Base Backpackers during my visit to Aso, Japan, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. Situated at 1498 Kurokawa, it offers a serene and picturesque setting surrounded by the natural beauty of Aso. The hostel is nestled amidst lush greenery and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They were incredibly helpful, providing valuable information about the area and offering suggestions for activities and sightseeing. A traditional onsen hotel, recently renovated and facilities modernised. The twin bed room is large - about 50 sq m in size. In addition, there is a balcony overlooking an excellent view. The breakfast and dinner buffet are fine, though not very special. I like the Japanese style dinner better. The hotel is situated inside the mountain. Access is not easy. There are no shops nearby.

住35號房非常好，空間很大有兩個池，通風非常棒，唯獨缺點是泡澡的地方有點使用痕跡，房間內部也是有點年代感，但是整體是舒服的 這次的套裝是有晚餐及早餐的，晚餐大概七成符合胃口，早餐大概五成，用餐的包廂環境非常棒服務人員也很客氣很有禮貌，英文也會通 整體來說一個晚上一萬元台幣，一泊二食，剛好這次旅程中也有住在由布院的界一個晚上，相較起來這間吃粗飽的CP值很高

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Free pick-up service from the bus stop. As we arrived before check-in time, the driver dropped us at the main street and showed us where to eat and how to walk back to ryokan. The ryokan kindly offered us early check-in. Luggages were in the room already when we arrived. Front desk staff explained everything clearly. We could only book the private onsen once. Private onsen number one is a bit small, and the water was not hot enough, but the view is pretty with a small garden and rock mountain. I love the large outdoor onsen (for hotel guests only). Water was hot. Beutiful environment and great atmosphere. Changing room was clean and spacious. The smaller outdoor onsen is for public. Room was a bit old and simple, but it came with a cute balcony which I didn't expect. Food was great. Dinner was served in room, and breakfast was served in breakfast room. Overall a great ryokan experience.

日帰り貸切風呂利用のみでお邪魔しました。２名で４５分２０００円。 他の旅館が３時には日帰り貸切風呂を締め切る中、夕方でも利用できました。ただ、日帰りの貸切風呂は予約ができないので、空いていれば入れます。普通の内風呂は予約無しでも湯めぐりができます。 貸切風呂の脱衣場にはクレンジングオイルから乳液まで揃っていて、まさに手ぶらで入れます。タオルは持参しましたが、レンタルか販売がありそうです。 女将さんと思われる方がとても丁寧ですし、館内も手入れされた感じが伝わる旅館で、宿泊でも利用したいと思いました。 駐車場は日帰りだと利用できないので、近くの共同無料駐車場に停めました。

やまなみハイウェイを別府方面にひた走り、瀬の本レストハウスがある国道442号線との交差点から黒川温泉方面である左に曲がる。数年前から国道442号線は新しい道に変わっており、道幅に余裕があって走行しやすい。今回の宿は「旅館わかば」。GoToトラベルで宿泊客が多いようで無料駐車場に停めるスペースがないのでキーをフロントの方に預ける。 夜御飯は部屋食。座席に座りドリンクメニューを見ると、ジンジャーを使った飲み物が美味しそうである。仲居さんが来られた際にアルコールが一番少ないとされる「ジンジャー甘酒」を注文。料理も手順良く運んでくれます。特上霜降り馬刺しや熊本味彩牛・肥後の赤鶏等、熊本ならではの料理が美味しい。ただ部屋での焼肉は服に臭いが付いてしまう。 朝食は通常だと1階の広間が朝食会場になりますが、コロナウイルス感染拡大防止の為に各部屋での弁当になっている。お米は七城米を使用した釜で炊きあげられたごはんで、おかずは「小国郷の六品」に七城米の御飯とまいたけと南関揚げのお味噌汁という美味しい朝御飯。 宿の方は気さくで対応がよく温泉も気持ちがよく良かったです。

The Manager and staff were amazing and so helpful - Probably the best service we had all trip from 7 different stays. We had the dining experience and not only was the food wonderful, they even change our food when we said we were scared of trying the Horse & Chicken Sashimi. The view from the in-room onsen was brilliant. If you want to be critical then its a 10min walk to the village centre but thats why we choose this Hotel plus we just drove to the village centre - so simple. To the Manager - Please thank your staff for making our stay here an amazing one.

Ryokan con onsen espectacular. La atención es inmejorable desde que te acercas al hotel con una persona en la entrada indicándote donde aparcar, recepción atentísima que te explican todo y te acompañan a la habitación, con servicio de té y dulces nada más llegar. Baños al aire libre preciosos. Cena y desayuno en comedor privado y mientras estás comiendo te preparan/recogen los futones y la habitación. Hermanado con otros ryokan para probar otros baños, pero sinceramente tiene los más agradables. En la despedida, te sorprenden con los zapatos que diste al llegar calentitos que se agradece en días fríos.
