Hotel berhampiran Chojugaoka Tsutsuji Park, Aso

This hotel is situated on a spacious property, secluded from the town center and shops. While it features public baths and an on-site restaurant, The dinner and breakfast offered a delightful blend of Western and Japanese dishes, typical of most Japanese hotels. Our twin room, though a bit compact, provided a comfortable overnight stay. All amenities provided were satisfactory for a one-night stay, leaving no room for complaints. As most establishments in the vicinity close after 5 PM (except for convenience stores), there isn't much to do at the hotel besides enjoying the onsen. Therefore, be prepared for an early night in.

洋室の部屋は、ゴルフ場と、雄大な阿蘇外輪山を望む高原で、良い展望でした。部屋にはソファ、椅子とテーブル、セミダブルベッド2つで、快適でした。 実はゴルフリゾートの大浴場なので、お風呂はあまり期待してなかったのです。ところが、温泉は源泉掛け流しで、内風呂も、4つの露天風呂(含む樽風呂2)も全てが源泉掛け流しで、少し茶色の温泉でいい湯でした。11時チェックアウトなのにお風呂が朝9時までが少し残念でした。 食事はレストランにて、和洋ニ種類の前菜と、お作りと温鉢でした。後半は柔らかい熊本産牛とシーフードの陶板焼き、高菜ご飯と味噌汁、美味しいデザートで、夕食は良かったです。また食事係の方が親切で丁寧な接客でした。 朝食はゴルフリゾートのためか、ボリュームある朝食でした。 チェックアウト後に、ロビーのくまモンと写真を撮ろうとしていたら、スタッフの方が、阿蘇の外輪山の景色が良いところで撮れば良いですよと、大きなくまモンをカートで外まで運んでくれました。 おかげさまで、阿蘇の山々とくまモンと共に、素敵な家族写真を撮る事ができました。親切な心遣いが、とても嬉しかったです。

Situé à proximité de la gare d’Aso, l’hôtel Marriott offre une expérience moderne et confortable. Son emplacement pratique facilite l’arrivée, avec un parking disponible. Les chambres, conformes aux standards Marriott, offrent un confort appréciable, et la literie assure des nuits reposantes. L’équipe, professionnelle et serviable, distille d’excellentes recommandations. Cependant, il est sage de vérifier la disponibilité des restaurants suggérés, surtout en soirée à Aso, une ville parfois limitée en options. Ce qui distingue cet hôtel est son rapport qualité/prix correct (environ 14kyens la nuit), même pendant les périodes de forte demande comme les fêtes de fin d’année. Pour une expérience pratique et agréable à Aso, l’hôtel Marriott est une option.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at ASO Base Backpackers during my visit to Aso, Japan, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. This charming hostel exceeded my expectations in every aspect and left me with beautiful memories of my time in Aso. First and foremost, the location of ASO Base Backpackers is simply breathtaking. Situated at 1498 Kurokawa, it offers a serene and picturesque setting surrounded by the natural beauty of Aso. The hostel is nestled amidst lush greenery and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It truly felt like a hidden gem, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They were incredibly helpful, providing valuable information about the area and offering suggestions for activities and sightseeing. Their genuine hospitality and passion for ensuring a memorable stay made a significant impact on my overall experience. The accommodation at ASO Base Backpackers was cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The dormitory-style rooms were clean and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and ample storage space. The communal areas, such as the lounge and kitchen, were inviting and provided opportunities to connect with fellow travelers from around the world. A traditional onsen hotel, recently renovated and facilities modernised. The twin bed room is large - about 50 sq m in size. In addition, there is a balcony overlooking an excellent view. The breakfast and dinner buffet are fine, though not very special. I like the Japanese style dinner better. The hotel is situated inside the mountain. Access is not easy. There are no shops nearby.

방은 쾌적하고 가족탕으로 쓸수있는 온천 4개 다 휼륭합니다. 석식은 신선하고 고급스런 재료로 만들어져 너무나 맛있습니다. 조식 또한 건강하면서도 맛있으며 푸짐하게 맛있게 먹었습니다. 부모님께서 석식.조식 모두 극찬을 하셨어요ㅎㅎ 또한 직원분들이 밝고 활기찬 에너지로 기분좋게 접객해주셔서 매우 기쁜마음으로 숙박했습니다. 점심으로 싸주신 오니기리 또한 맛있어요. 아소산에 또 가게된다면 재방문할겁니다.부모님과의 소중한 추억 감사했습니다.

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Free pick-up service from the bus stop. As we arrived before check-in time, the driver dropped us at the main street and showed us where to eat and how to walk back to ryokan. The ryokan kindly offered us early check-in. Luggages were in the room already when we arrived. Front desk staff explained everything clearly. We could only book the private onsen once. Private onsen number one is a bit small, and the water was not hot enough, but the view is pretty with a small garden and rock mountain. I love the large outdoor onsen (for hotel guests only). Water was hot. Beutiful environment and great atmosphere. Changing room was clean and spacious. The smaller outdoor onsen is for public. Room was a bit old and simple, but it came with a cute balcony which I didn't expect. Food was great. Dinner was served in room, and breakfast was served in breakfast room. Overall a great ryokan experience.

熊本に居る長男家族4人と宿泊、熊本に住んで6年ぐらいになるのに黒川温泉に泊まった事がないそうで、わざわざ埼玉から費用全額当方負担で孫孝行しました、、何のことやら(笑) 宿は、黒川温泉では大型旅館でしたが、温泉は夕方4時と夜8時と翌日朝7時に入ったのですが何故かほぼ独占状態、竹林に囲まれた大きな内風呂、檜風呂二つと露天風呂、立ち寄り客も入れる露天風呂付き温泉の3ヶ所あり、2番目が1番良かったかな、泉質は単純泉 部屋は普通の和室だけど、横を流れる川から滝の音が聞こえていい感じ、食事はバイキングで 夕食の赤酢のマグロ寿司が絶品、後は、串揚げ各種とかカンパチ刺身、ローストビーフ、小学校の孫は鰻を5巻食べて食べ過ぎ状態、、ドリンクが飲み放題で焼酎の飲み比べが出来た！　黒川温泉の焼酎美味かったなー、朝食もバイキングで納豆と牛乳が地元産で美味かった 夜は天体望遠鏡で木星と月を見せて貰いました、孫は感動！ 街中散策は寒さでやらず、宿に留まっただけだけどゆっくり出来ました 家族連れで楽しめる宿と思います

This is a typical traditional Ryokan, so the rooms do not come with showers, and some rooms come with ensuite WC (toilet, not bathroom). But good news for those who do not like getting naked in front of strangers in an onsen - you can reserve private onsen (family onsen) rooms (an hour only), where you can soak and bathe, in private and with your loved ones. But note, you need to reserve and they are not always available. Having said that, if you want the full-on Japanese Ryokan experience, you can do it here. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) package is not cheap at all, but you do get the sleep-on-futons, sliding Japanese doors in room, water garden view, tatami etc. experience, with dinner and breakfast cooked with seasonal ingredients. We did not really undersand our meal courses (dinner and breakfast), and they were not exactly sumptous (although you will have a full stomach at the end) and delectable. And we had a better experience earlier in another Ryokan some time back. But again, if this is going to be your first-time Ryokan experience, then go for it. I would recommend staying in a hotel if you have been there and done that with Ryokans.

The Manager and staff were amazing and so helpful - Probably the best service we had all trip from 7 different stays. We had the dining experience and not only was the food wonderful, they even change our food when we said we were scared of trying the Horse & Chicken Sashimi. The view from the in-room onsen was brilliant. If you want to be critical then its a 10min walk to the village centre but thats why we choose this Hotel plus we just drove to the village centre - so simple. To the Manager - Please thank your staff for making our stay here an amazing one.
