A perfect hotel. Charming and elegant. The designer was spot on. Furniture, paint colors, art on the walls - beautiful in keeping with the vibe. It’s Avignon personified. Book if you can. It’s the perfect place. Terrace on 4 is amazing and private. Room is tasteful and comfortable. Outside courtyard a lovely respite.

It was a privilege to stay in this immaculate, charming and tastefully renovated guest house located in what was once a 13 Century monastery within the walls of the historic city of Avignon. There are several good choices of rooms and suites and we had everything we needed at our fingertips. We so enjoyed the lovely courtyard in the center of the property. Owners, Sabine and Patrick were kind, helpful and welcoming and we so enjoyed being within walking distance to wonderful restaurants and historic locations. We especially enjoyed stepping out of the front door of the guest house to visit the market that offered beautiful flowers we enjoyed all week, delicious foods and crafts. Parking is available if needed as well as lots of good advice for your stay. We loved our stay her and will return.

Our stay was perfect from a to z ! Everything you can expect from a good Ibis Styles hotel. Very clean, very well decorated, very friendly staff (reception, breakfast and bar) and a very soothing and enjoyable pool/restaurant area. The free parking was also very convenient, safe and much appreciated. I would need to scrape my brain to find a flaw. The team has all of our gratitude !

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and modern. The restaurant was a plus. The room was fine, except the internet had really slow connection. Did not like sharing a room when there was a bathroom with no sink (how do you watch your hands when your roommate is in the shower area?). The shower area had only a curtain - so no sound protection. Could not get the room cold enough even with the lowest setting for temperature and the fan on high. We were both too hot.
Mas de Capelou

We stayed at May de Capelou in May 2022. It is a beautiful farmhouse but it has a problem - mosquitoes - and lots of them. There is no mention in their publicity that the property is located on an island. Nor do they warn guests of the issues when they check-in. We were encouraged to book at their outdoor restaurant La Brousse on our first night, surrounded as it is by woodland and orchards, and we were eaten alive. The mosquitoes were everywhere, swarming over our heads and in our faces. The hotel don't mention either that that have 6 machines in operation to try and control the population which clearly don't work. My wife was severely bitten in spite of the fact she was dressed in long trousers, lace up shoes and a long sleeved top. Her leg swelled up and we were forced to leave after 2 days of a planned week. The manager Valerie was not sympathetic, giving the equivalent of a gallic shrug. When we informed her that we would be leaving, my wife spent the entire day in our room. At no time was there any enquiry from the hotel staff as to her welfare. Not a visit to the room or even a telephone call when they knew she was unwell. When we checked out at 1700 which the hotel were advised of, I felt sure that this small boutique hotel which is marketed as being ”like a private house” would at least give us a personal farewell. I would expect that under normal circumstances let alone after our experience. Not a single member of staff appeared, yet one was clearly visible sunning himself at the hotel pool. We left alone without a single word from the hotel. In summary I don't believe this hotel really cares for it's guests. They certainly did nothing for us in the wake of our experience showing a casual disregard for our wellbeing. I wrote to the manager when we returned home and gave them an opportunity to make a gesture of goodwill towards us in view of what happened. They were not interested except to say they would consider refunding something if they re-let the room Think very carefully before you book this hotel and consider the pitfalls.

Wunderschönes, schlecht geführtes Hotel mit sehr guter Lage direkt gegenüber vom Ausgang vom Papstpalast. Die alten Räume und Einrichtungen sind sehenswert und sehr stilvoll, unser Zimmer hatte einen tollen Ausblick. Unser Zimmer gehörte zu den schönsten, in denen wir in Europa übernachtet haben. Der Service lässt aber sehr! zu wünschen übrig, vor allem für den Übernachtungspreis. Wir haben zwei Nächste hier verbracht, mussten jeden Abend mehrmals Angestellte suchen um unsere Bestellungen in der Bar aufgeben zu können und hatten dann mit unfreundlichen und unmotivierten Mitarbeitern zu tun. Cocktails waren gut, Essen in der Bar - wieder für den Preis und die Hotelkategorie - miserabel. Die Räume und alten Sofas der Bar sind aber einen Besuch wert. Die Auswahl beim Frühstück ist gerade mal angemessen, wenn man die schicke Aufmachung des Büffets durchschaut hat und die Qualität ist auch nicht bemerkenswert. Der Frühstücksraum jedoch ist wieder beeindruckend und stimmungsvoll. Beim täglichen Nachmittagstee ist das Hotel von externen Touristen überlaufen, sodass man mit Glück als Hotelgast einen Tisch ergattern kann, dann war aber an beiden Tagen nur noch ein begrenzte Auswahl des Kuchenmenüs vorhanden, da schon alles ausverkauft war und das nicht erst zu einer späten Uhrzeit. Und auch hier kann man ewig auf eine unfreundliche Bedienung warten! Zimmer waren sehr gut gepflegt, auch freundliche und hilfsbereite Zimmermädchen. Mehr als eine Nacht würden wir hier nicht empfehlen, für eine Besichtigung des Papstpalastes aber gut geeignet. Vor der Anreise unbedingt den Anfahrtsplan anfordern, dieser ist sehr hilfreich und dringend notwendig bei den engen Einbahnstraßen der Altstadt! Damit klappt die Anfahrt aber gut.
