We recently stayed at this hotel after traveling there for a wedding and did not have the experience we were expecting. Aside from our room being in the ”motel” portion of the facilities, which was disappointing, our room had no hot water in the shower. We discovered this early Saturday morning. The solution provided by the front desk clerk was for us to use the shower in a room 4 doors down. This was a surprising and inconvenient solution, but due to timing of our plans, we did need to shower and meet with others by a certain time, so we took turns showering in the other room. We couldn't move into the other because there were 3 of us staying together and only 1 bed in the room. The front desk clerk said we had access to the shower room until noon. When it was my turn to shower, I locked the door to the hotel room AND the bathroom door, since I was by myself. I took a shower and when I got out of the shower, someone was trying to enter the bathroom and wiggling the doorknob. I said ”hello?” and whoever it was left and I heard the hotel room door shut. I was frightened to say the least, so I called my roommate and asked them to wait outside of the room for me to exit the hotel room. This was terrifying! The front desk clerk said it could have been a maid and was very unconcerned that this had happened to a guest. She said she was still trying to get a different room for us to move to and she'd call when they had one. When we got that phone call around 3pm, we were offered a room on the other side of the motel building, close to the loud and busy intersection. I politely declined this room and said the only we would go through another inconvenience of moving rooms was if it were to a nicer room. She said take it or leave it, so we left it. We did not enjoy our stay and wish there were other accommodations available in Avon but couldn't find any. I was kind, pleasant and understanding and gave ample opportunities for the staff to make our experience better, and all they did was take the $30 facility fee off of our bill. Every person I share this experience with tells me that we shouldn't have been charged at all for our stay, and I agree. We should be fairly compensated. I really hope this experience doesn't happen to any future guests.

Traditional ' Old-Style Hotel' that needs updating. Stayed here for 4 days in October. The good news: The location is great for either Farmington or the Greater Hartford area since it's close to I-84 but not too close. Hotel has traditional look and furnishings, although the furnishings are worn and need refurbishing or replacement. The room was clean though. Bed was very comfortable. The rate was low, compared to others, but there are shortcomings: There's no elevator!!! I stayed on the second floor. I usually travel with just a carry-on bag and a laptop, but this time had extra luggage for an event I was going to. It was busy at the time, I didn't see any sign of bell service nor luggage racks (which wouldn't help me up the stairs) so I had to haul it. They should disclose this. The rate: As you check in you find out there's an additional fee of $ 10.00 per day they didn't disclose. Not a lot of money, it just feels slimy. The internet service is free but slow. The sink doesn't have a stopper in it. Breakfast is better than adequate, and they have a couple of items that are gluten free for those of us with that problem. Would I stay there again? Maybe. Depends on other hotels in the area's rates, length of stay; am I able to make due with my cell phone's hotspot which outperformed the free wi-fi service.

Aside from our room being in the ”motel” portion of the facilities, which was disappointing, our room had no hot water in the shower. We discovered this early Saturday morning. The solution provided by the front desk clerk was for us to use the shower in a room 4 doors down. This was a surprising and inconvenient solution, but due to timing of our plans, we did need to shower and meet with others by a certain time, so we took turns showering in the other room. We couldn't move into the other because there were 3 of us staying together and only 1 bed in the room. The front desk clerk said we had access to the shower room until noon. When it was my turn to shower, I locked the door to the hotel room AND the bathroom door, since I was by myself. I took a shower and when I got out of the shower, someone was trying to enter the bathroom and wiggling the doorknob. I said ”hello?” and whoever it was left and I heard the hotel room door shut. I was frightened to say the least, so I called my roommate and asked them to wait outside of the room for me to exit the hotel room. This was terrifying! The front desk clerk said it could have been a maid and was very unconcerned that this had happened to a guest. She said she was still trying to get a different room for us to move to and she'd call when they had one. When we got that phone call around 3pm, we were offered a room on the other side of the motel building, close to the loud and busy intersection. I politely declined this room and said the only we would go through another inconvenience of moving rooms was if it were to a nicer room. She said take it or leave it, so we left it. We did not enjoy our stay and wish there were other accommodations available in Avon but couldn't find any. I was kind, pleasant and understanding and gave ample opportunities for the staff to make our experience better, and all they did was take the $30 facility fee off of our bill. Every person I share this experience with tells me that we shouldn't have been charged at all for our stay, and I agree. We should be fairly compensated. I really hope this experience doesn't happen to any future guests.

Traditional ' Old-Style Hotel' that needs updating. Stayed here for 4 days in October. The good news: The location is great for either Farmington or the Greater Hartford area since it's close to I-84 but not too close. Hotel has traditional look and furnishings, although the furnishings are worn and need refurbishing or replacement. The room was clean though. Bed was very comfortable. The rate was low, compared to others, but there are shortcomings: There's no elevator!!! I stayed on the second floor. I usually travel with just a carry-on bag and a laptop, but this time had extra luggage for an event I was going to. It was busy at the time, I didn't see any sign of bell service nor luggage racks (which wouldn't help me up the stairs) so I had to haul it. They should disclose this. The rate: As you check in you find out there's an additional fee of $ 10.00 per day they didn't disclose. Not a lot of money, it just feels slimy. The internet service is free but slow. The sink doesn't have a stopper in it. Breakfast is better than adequate, and they have a couple of items that are gluten free for those of us with that problem. Would I stay there again? Maybe. Depends on other hotels in the area's rates, length of stay; am I able to make due with my cell phone's hotspot which outperformed the free wi-fi service.

Dean and Lucía are wonderful people who love to help and that's a great asset to have at a hotel. They were always smiling and super pleasant, even at 4 AM when I arrived. From my middle of the night arrival, to the maintenance man willing to bring me daily ice then helping me move my bags to a new room, to me locking myself out, they staff worked efficiently and with smiles. I travel all the time for work and this was one of the best accommodations staff. I will definitely be back.
