Amazing hotel with best location, wonderful service and long history. City center but surrounded by nature, 2 deers walked by restaurant window during breakfast. Will definitely come back!

The fitness gym was quite comprehensive The regular Room was already very big, comfy bed and clean! No upgrade this time since all rooms are fully booked - service! 100% good! One of the most friendly staff and quite a number overseas staff. - The hotel provide a shuttle bus to Nara station or Kintetsu Below content for those who has time to read To start, it was the first day of the dining experience at Azekura that got me to have not one but two dining occasions at the restaurant. Chef Wang Yu Wen not only delivered a gastronomic experience throughout my teppanyaki lunch course, but he also delivered a very personal one-one dining service experience. His culinary expertise was showcased in every dish despite my dietary restriction, every flavour simply delighted my palate. Kirito did an exceptional service by recommending a great local Nara sake to pair with my lunch course., The second day of Kaiseki was equally delightful and I was extremely surprised to be greeted by the 料理長, Mr Nobukazu Yoshida who honestly provided such an “Omotenashi” experience throughout my time at Azekura. Mr Okubo Ren and Ms Miyamae also delivered great service during my lunch dining on the second day. Overall, the dining experience at Azekura was the highlight of my stay and till now, I couldn’t help but marvel due to the great service that was initiated by Mr Wang Yu Wen. Additionally, I would like to commend the impeccable service I received during the check-in process. I I was impressed at Mr Kim’s patience and service throughout the check-in experience, and I was really glad to get a warm welcoming experience from both Mr Arjun and Ms Pitcha at the lobby. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate specific requests made a significant difference, setting the tone for an enjoyable and happy stay. It is evident that the team takes pride in delivering top-notch service, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. Furthermore, the hospitality at the lounge was exemplary. Despite the huge crowd during the festive season, the lounge staff did create a comfortable and enjoyable one. The historical significance of this venue must be highlighted to illustrate its uniqueness in Nara - We signed up for the complimentary tour of the hotel offered to hotel guests on certain mornings of the week and had the pleasure of having Ms. Sato, the director of marketing, introduce the story of Shisui and its past-life as the residence of the governor of Nara between 1922 to 2017, then as Shisui hotel with guest-rooms designed by renown architect Kengo Kuma. The emperor of Japan had stayed on property in post-war to sign the San Francisco treaty. Sato-san's thorough introduction in fluent-english had me realise a stay at this hotel is a unique experience in the way that it is beyond just luxury. The staff had been wonderful and eager to please without pushiness. It was much appreciated, as it gave room for my wife and I to enjoy each other's company at this perfectly peaceful property. The staff had been amazing from the beginning, at check-in, we had Rika-san, a lady with eyes that can smile, to help us check-in while we rest our feet at the lounge with tea, then guide us to our room while briefing us on all its amenities. The rooms were modern with accents of traditional Japanese designs to remind me of the locations' history. Details like the washroom walls that look like zen-gardens and overall wooden decor made my stay at the room one of the most relaxing experiences ever at any hotel. The French-Japanese wine-paired dinner at Suiyou was also our culinary highlight of our two-week vacation in Japan. In summary, after the two night stay, my wife had requested that we should come back to Shisui in the spring, summer and fall to experience all the seasons at this venue.

DO NOT STAY HERE unless you want your baby’s cot taken away and they force you to have your baby sleep on the floor and be squashed! That is exactly what they did to us while my baby was still sleeping in her cot they wanted to take away my baby’s cot leaving her bed less. Where would my baby sleep when they took my cot away ?! The hotel doesn’t care about you and the service is terrible. I told them months before booking I needed a cot which they assured me they had. Then the hotel proceeded to take away my baby’s cot during our 2 week stay leaving my baby in unsafe sleeping conditions as she had NO WHERE TO SLEEP!!! The service here is terrible. You are better off staying somewhere else. They are very inhumane to treat a baby like that and leave a baby bed less to sleep on the floor. My baby is unable to sleep in our bed as we are heavy sleepers and do not want to squash her while we slept. This hotel is terrible! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I am so baffled that an entire big hotel only has 1 cot that guests have to fight over? And even when you booked the cot first and have your baby sleeping in the cot first the hotel would still take your baby’s cot away and leaving your baby bed less!!!! Utterly disgusting and unacceptable!!! I want a full refund based upon the lie that they told me that there is a cot available to use when there is not!!! To all families: DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

We stayed one night in FUFU Nara on the way from Tokyo to Kyoto. We took a special train - Aoniyoshi from Kyoto to Nara and it was very enjoyable ride. We took a taxi from Kintetsu Nara station to the hotel. Hotel staff greeted us right away and kept the our luggage for us until the check-in time. It is located next to Ukimido and we were able to visit Todaiji and the giant Buddha before the check-in. Once we return, we had a nice cold welcome drink. Hotel staff were very professional and friendly. It was obvious that they take a great pride on performing their tasks. Our room was super clean and modern with some Japanese touches. And the hot tub on the balcony was amazing. We contemplated between FUFU and the new Shisui, but we were very glad that we chose FUFU. At FUFU, I believe all rooms are suites and come with the private open air onsen. We did read some reviews on the noise. We did not notice too much especially after dodging so many screaming school children at Todaiji. At night, we had teppan yaki dinner for our anniversary. It was pretty cool to dress in yukata with a hanten jacket. The sandals were comfortable, also. We walked through the bamboo garden to get to the restaurant. Our chef was friendly and food was delicious. With sake pairing, we had a great time. Breakfast was served at the same restaurant, and the walk was beautiful in the morning. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. The lady who served us explained each dish very politely. It's hard to believe they are so helpful even without any tips. Staying at FUFU made our stay in Nara very special.

10 seconds walk from JR Nara Station. It's okay even if it rains. Hotel check-in is on the 3rd floor. The bathhouse on the 6th floor is free. Free drinks on the 3rd floor. Breakfast shows the pride of the hotel. Very delicious.

The hotel is next to the Nara station, it’s very good location. The staff are kind and nice, we asked about the route and restaurant recommendations, they are so helpful. The onsen in the hotel is good. Pyjamas and necessities are provided. Free alcohol drinks are also provided. All the check-in or entering room are in automatic mode. Good security for woman onsen zone with specific password to enter. I wish I could stay here again if I come back to Nara again.

ロケーションとテラスで過ごせることの2点でこちらに決めました。 奈良国立博物館まで歩いて8分程度、もう少し行けば東大寺も近いです。 あの辺りを歩いて観光するには良い立地だと思いますし、途中に通る道も風情があって良いです。 スタッフさんたちは皆さん感じが良く、気分良く過ごせました。 特に、私がカフェの無料ドリンクについてちゃんと理解していなかったのを察して、説明してくださった女性のスタッフさんが親切でした。 チェックイン後、テラスに出て目の前の猿沢池と興福寺の眺めをゆったり座って楽しみましたが、すごく贅沢な気分になれました。 建物の1階にスターバックスがあるので、そこで買ったドリンクをテラスに持ち込むことも可能だそうです。 ホテル室内は清潔で、夜になれば観光客も近くからいなくなりますし静かです。内装もお洒落ですし、部屋は広々していました。 窓の障子を開けると目の前に三重塔が。 ただ、朝6時にお寺の鐘の音で目が覚めてしまいました。まあそれも奈良の醍醐味でしょうか。 大浴場は小ぶりですが、平日の利用だったためか貸切り状態で使えてラッキーでした。シャンプーが選べるのも楽しかったです。 こちらは朝食や夕食を出すレストランがない代わりに、予約時に外注らしき朝食弁当を注文できました。これがすごく美味しくて大正解でした。 夕食も近辺にたくさん美味しいお店があるので、特に問題を感じませんでした。 なお、地下には飲み物の自販機もありますし、近いところにコンビニもありますので荷物が少なくても困りません。 過不足のないサービスと清潔な部屋や寝具と、満足しました。 マイカーで訪れる場合のみ、注意点があります。 ホテル提携の有料駐車場だけは大変でした。土日は歩行者天国になるゾーンがある関係で、とんでもなく狭い道からしか辿り着けないのです。 あらかじめそれは調べておいたので、小さい軽自動車を使用しており事なきを得ましたがこれが3ナンバーの車だったらどうなっていたことか……。 次回来訪時には別の駐車場を使用するか、電車で行くことにします。

From the moment we arrived at Mikasa in the hills above Nara, we knew that this was going to be a special place to stay. The staff had arrived out front to greet us and assist us with our luggage. Our name was up on the board of arrivals, and after handing over our passports, we were quickly ushered into their main seating area off the lobby for some Ocha and a view of Nara below. My assumption is that they were doing that additional check-in procedures and verifying the room was ready during this time, so it was a nice touch to be able to relax while waiting. The ladies in our group were then given their choice of Yukata. For whatever reason, the men's were already in the room. We were then shown the facilities on our way to the rooms and given the information as to how the bathing worked. It was a lot of information to digest, but not unreasonable. The rooms were larger than expected, with the traditional tatami matting and our own private onsen on the porch. The room had HVAC, which was nice as it was quite chilly outside and it kept the room the perfect temperature. Not long after we arrived, it was time for the traditional Japanese dinner. We arrived slightly early to our reserved time but were delighted to find that our own private dining room had already been set up for our dining experience. We could not believe the amount which had already been laid out for us. It was a delightful mix of colors and aromas, and provided a precursor for the several courses which were to follow. The food was amazing. Even when there were dishes that were not to our liking (due to palette, not quality) , we dud enjoy the presentation. Although there was a bell to ring for service, our host always seemed to know when we were finishing and was ready with the next course. It was quite the experience and would recommend to anyone to ensure you get the traditional dining options. From there, we retired back to the rooms to get ready for the onsen, which was open for longer hours than expected. I believe they closed at midnight and opened back up at 05:30am. Some opted to get up early to enjoy the relative privacy of an early morning soak before breakfast. We again went the traditional route for breakfast, and while it was a bit more adventurous than we were used to, it embraced the mornings offerings of seafood, savory proteins, and intriguing fruits. The quantity of food was comparable to the dinner the previous evening, which is to say, a lot of it. After that, it was time to check-out as we had elected for just a 1 night stay, though we would all have liked to stay another night. The best part was, for check-out, they would take you bags and drop them at the Ryokan's information center allowing guests to spend their day in Nara without the hassle of dealing with luggage. It’s in the center of nara city It’s 5 mins walk to the nara shopping area, 5mins walk to the nara park there is deer walking around the hotel in the morning There is free morning city walk tour at 7:00-8:00 with local guide; the bicycle is free The view of the pond is nice the service is great!! 5stars to everything The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable They have drink lounge for free use with unlimited snacks; fruit juice, sake, beer, wine from 15:00pm-2:00am Really recommend everyone that travels to nara city to stay at this hotel!! The only downside of this hotel is the breakfast only provides japanese style food ; grill fish and onigiri The onigiri is huge, grill fish and miso soup is cold I wish they can make the onigiri smaller so We can taste more flavors And hope that they can provide a bakery corner for people who doesn’t like to eat fish Otherwise we loved the hotel and want to go Back again!! Ps: there is not parking space so we need to park at the coin parking costs us 2400¥ /night
