The Plaza Seoul is something else entirely — it’s a destination woven into the fabric of the city itself. Standing near City Hall, the hotel carries a quiet sense of history that you feel the moment you arrive. Built in 1976 and later joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection, it has the kind of presence that comes from actually meaning something to a city, not just occupying space in it. Yet inside, it feels contemporary and polished — a thoughtful balance of heritage and modernity that Seoul itself seems to embody. The location is genuinely exceptional. Myeongdong is a short stroll away, the City Hall subway station is practically at the doorstep, and the grand palaces of Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung are close enough for an afternoon wander. It’s the kind of central positioning where you can return to the calm of your room without eating into your day. Rooms facing City Hall offer a view that’s quietly stunning — particularly in the evening, when the plaza lights up and the energy of downtown Seoul hums below. The rooms themselves are comfortable and well-appointed, with the small but meaningful touches you expect from an Autograph Collection property. What consistently stood out, though, was the staff. Attentive, gracious, and genuinely warm — there’s a pride in the service here that’s palpable. The concierge in particular went out of their way to make recommendations feel personal rather than rehearsed. And for those who enjoy their mornings well-fed, the breakfast spread is a proper event. One honest note: some rooms are on the smaller side, so if space matters to you, it’s worth requesting accordingly. And the fitness facilities, while excellent, are housed in an adjacent building — a minor inconvenience worth knowing in advance. But these are small footnotes in an otherwise excellent stay. The Plaza Seoul earns its reputation not through grandeur for its own sake, but through a consistently human quality of hospitality that’s increasingly rare. It’s the kind of hotel you recommend without hesitation — and think about booking again before you’ve even checked out.

it’s all about the location. the hotel is in the heart of Myeongdong area. if shopping and street food is your reason to visit Seoul, stay here. the staffs are okay, they are polite. the room is clean, modern, and spacious just enough for a convenient stay. almost no view from the window , though - there’s another building blocking the view. i like the coffee and tea corner, and the neat bathroom. though i do think that it is a bit overpriced. overall rating: 8/10.

The location is excellen with several train stations nearby, making it very convenient! I would consider staying here again on my next trip! The only thing that bothered me was that a sewage smell started filling the bathroom from the second night of my stay... The cups provided in the room are paper cups so guests who prefer regular cups may want to bring their own. It was also very convenient that I could store my suitcase in a locker inside the hotel even after checking out!

This is a wonderful hotel that my husband and I absolutely loved! It’s in a great location, just a 10-minute walk from Myeongdong Shopping Street and close to Seoul Station. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, and on the ground floor of the hotel building, there’s a large Starbucks and a small convenience store. A minor downside for me is that there are really a lot of offices in the area, and from around 6 p.m. until late at night, almost all the cafes will be full, and you won’t find a free table. The hotel staff are friendly; they always greet you, smile, and are helpful. I had breakfast at the hotel, and it was good—mostly Asian-style, but there was familiar food for Europeans, too. The rooms aren’t small. We had enough space to unpack two large suitcases. The toilet and bathroom are separate. My favorite part is the view from the window! It’s stunning!

Terdapat persiaran yang menghubungkan Stesen Yongsan ke hotel, jadi ia sangat mudah kerana anda boleh bersiar-siar tanpa basah walaupun dalam cuaca buruk. Terdapat pusat membeli-belah yang dipanggil I Park Mall di stesen, jadi sangat bagus untuk dapat makan dan membeli-belah di sana. Hotel ini mempunyai semua kemudahan yang diperlukan dan saya ingin menggunakannya semula.

I had to cancel 1 night and even though i submitted the request within the amendment period, it was conveyed to the hotel and by the time the hotel responded, it had past the deadline. I felt that I was caught in between trip.com and the hotel, the time taken to communicate the amendment was delayed because of the communication time between the 2. When I arrived to stay the 1 night, the staff were so unaware of how to do service recovery - they know that I paid almost SGD1000 for 1 night, perhaps they could have upgraded the room or just provided breakfast. But no, they say they can’t change anything in that booking. Like seriously, you guys shouldn’t be in the service industry! I laughed when I saw that welcome message from the hotel GM in my tv screen. Never again in this hotel. And trip is not blameless too. You should always set deadlines taking into account response time between hotel and trip.

This is not the first time I’ve stayed at this hotel, and everything has always been excellent — but not this time. It all started at check-in, when we were given a different room than the one we had booked. However, thanks to the reception staff, the issue was quickly resolved. Then we noticed that the toilet smelled of smoke, even though the room was supposed to be non-smoking. We informed the staff, and over time the smell became less noticeable. Housekeeping was done daily, and the staff responded promptly to all our requests. These minor inconveniences did not spoil our stay. We will definitely come back again.

The daily housekeeping service was executed to an exceptional standard, deserving of the highest praise for its consistency and attention to detail. Breakfast was thoughtfully arranged and thoroughly satisfying, with the only minor distraction being a few guests whose table etiquette fell short of the otherwise refined atmosphere. The concierge service exceeded expectations, delivering not only efficiency but also a remarkable level of personalized attention that left a lasting and highly favorable impression.

Great Location for a Quiet Stay 💯 The hotel is conveniently located near the subway (Less than 5 minutes walk from subway exit but if you are carrying luggage you and plan to use lift, you gotta walk slightly far), making it easy to get around. It’s slightly farther from popular tourist areas like Hongdae (about a 20-minute ride), but that’s exactly why I chose it—much quieter and less crowded. It’s also close to the science park area, so there are plenty of eateries nearby in the evening. Most don’t stay open very late, which actually made the environment peaceful and ideal for resting. During our stay in mid-April, the hotel was still using heating instead of air conditioning. The staff advised us to open the window, and thankfully the weather was cool enough for it to be comfortable. ⸻ Room & Facilities We booked a twin room but were pleasantly surprised to get one queen bed and one single bed, with plenty of space. The room comes with a mini kitchen setup, though there are no cooking facilities. A microwave and kettle are provided, which is still convenient for simple meals. There is also a washing machine, but the instructions are only in Korean and there’s no drying function. We had to rely on translation apps, which weren’t always accurate. It would really help if the hotel could provide English instructions. ⸻ Service The front desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, housekeeping could be improved. On two occasions, only one towel was provided even though there were two of us in the room. ⸻ Nearby Amenities The hotel is surrounded by 24/7 convenience stores, with the nearest one just across the road. There’s also a connected bistro offering discounts for hotel guests. Within walking distance, you’ll find shops like Daiso and Olive Young, as well as a department store. Shopping here was enjoyable—less crowded, better service, and good prices. ⸻ Overall A great choice if you prefer a quieter stay away from the busy tourist areas, while still having easy access to transport and essential amenities.
