Lovely old fashioned hotel, it was a bit of a trek from the lift to our room at the top but worth it for the view from the window. Breakfast was very good and beautifully presented. The staff were very polite and completely unobtrusive. Will definitely stay there again.
Abbey Hotel Bath is an experiential hotel for people seeking true Bathonian encounters – a place for discerned travellers, admirers of British Quintessentialism and in-the-know locals alike. At the heart of Bath and inspired by the city’s most celebrated icons, it blends the new with the old, the refined with the comfortable and the local with the worldly. The art, the stories, the experiences have all been purposefully directed to showcase old and new Bathonian talent. Guests are immersed in rich history, architectural beauty, regional artistry and craftsmanship in this art-driven 62-bedroom hotel. Built in 1739, the building composed part of John Wood’s vision for Bath. Now in its XXI act, it has once again risen to play a role in Bath’s rich narrative, to serve as a gathering place for the city’s most interesting voices – makers and thinkers that inspirit Bath – and a place for visitors and locals to unwind.

We booked directly, in January, with the hotel taking up an offer for our March stay. This is a 5 star hotel and we upgraded our room a few days before arrival. The room was lovely with a comfortable 4 poster bed and all facilities as expected. Breakfast was not as we had expected for a 5 star hotel. We had to choose a time to eat, did the earlier people have all the yoghurt? By the time (8.45) we arrived we were scraping the bottom of the deep jar and our cooked breakfast was a meagre portion. The potato cake was very thin, like cardboard, a single thin rasher of bacon and a slice of mushroom. Thank goodness I asked for a grilled tomato! We had to ask for toast that 1st morning. The coffee pot was barely enough for one, we had to ask for more! We had booked to eat in the Vellore Restaurant for my birthday but decided to cancel this, as seemed expensive and breakfast had put us off! So we chose to eat from the bar menu instead, taking the meal in the lounge. Unfortunately the room was pretty cold, we heard other guests complaining about this. Guests can ask for fresh milk to go with the complimentary tea and coffee, but be aware a tiny jug of milk is £6. However the staff were friendly and extremely helpful and the hotel is well situated for the town.

We stayed here as we were going to the Outfield Festival and it was only a short walk away.
We arrived early and kindly asked if there was any chance we could have our room. The staff were very obliging and confirmed that yes we could go to our room, that was very much appreciated as we needed to get to the Festival.
Room was spotless, modern and very spacious. Plenty of sockets for charging phones etc.
The fan was very much needed!
The only negative is that the thickness of the duvet for this time of year is not suitable. A thinner summer one would've been better. We literally were sweating all night more or less.
We'd definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Room was comfortable and well prepared. There was some noise from traffic outside late at night.
A late arrival necessitated a snack, which was prepared quicky and with no trouble.
Breakfast offered plenty of choice and the dining room was spacious.
Parking was adequate, although the parking charge was not anticipated.
The main problem was locating the hotel even with a satnav. It was almost impossible to find the way in via a narrow concealed entrance that was not signposted.

We arrived late in the evening. The staff on our arrival were so friendly and we were taken to our rooms quickly. Our room was huge, my daughters was smaller but still big enough for two adults. They were spotless, bed was so comfortable too and sleep was great. Bathroom was excellent with a huge shower area and toiletries were supplied. We had breakfast in the morning which was amazing. Down in the restaurant there were toys, books, games and a comfortable area where you could sit and relax. Again the staff could not have been more helpful or nice. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Hollies Inn.
HHau Ming MusettaLovely hotel that made our journey and evening so much better. Originally booked another hotel but it was so dirty and staff was so rude, had to leave and find an alternative late at night. Thank you for accommodating our last minute booking!
The bed is super comfy, cosy room and friendly staff. Would come back again if we are visiting Bath again :)
WWILONLocation of the hotel is superb, with walking distance of 10 minutes to the city centre near Romans bath.
General atmosphere of the hotel is good. Room is comfy and nicely decorated.
However, when we first got into the room, I noticed there was a used bath towel (probably left by the previous guest) left hanging inside the bathroom which is not so good…..😊
Otherwise it is good and I highly recommend it to everyone seeking a decent good hotel near city centre.
JJonesRickyI would like to thank the staff for everything they had done for me and my wife after I mad a awful mistake that is to embarrassing to go into ... all I can say is they literally made sure I was not going to be let down and time ruined by going above and beyond anything they needed to do to make my stay a beautiful one after my error ......the food was lovely and also everything was as it was in the pictures if not better something to see for yourself should you go ahead and book a stay .......
PPengguna TetamuWe stayed in a triple room and were delighted with the comfort and cleanliness. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing - 2 of us had the full English and 1 had avocado, smoked salmon and poached egg on toast. There was also a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices, pastries, coffee and tea. All delicious. The location is superb, being very central.
LLiam and JennyAttended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful.
We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest.
The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss.
One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go.
Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109.

BBuanfenshouderenaPleasing music, beautiful lighting and wonderful setting of room. Staff are so sweet and patient as well. The food was great and provided choices for vegan.
音樂優美,燈光柔和,房間布置令人舒適。工作人員很貼心也很耐心。食物非常美味,充分考慮素的主義者。
PPengguna TetamuI recently stayed over at the YMCA Bath, while on a solo business trip. It ŵas wonderful, the hotel was clean and comfortable (free WiFi) and the Host, a chap named Clayton was so charming, helpful and friendly. He made my stay really great. I would fully recommend the YMCA Bath to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.
PPengguna TetamuPositives - excellent receptionist (Vipin) and without his help I would have probably checked out early. Has parking. Reasonable location and access into central Bath. Has an electric kettle and a pack of cookies.
Not so positives - In desperate need of upgrade, creaking floors, wash basin outside the bathroom. It isn’t for work related travellers as you cannot even use an iron without tripping off the entire building main switch and once that happen there is no 24 hour active reception. No fan or iron provided in room so you have to ask. Tiny computer monitor used as a make shift TV that you have to pull out of a closet. No drinking water in room. Value for money not there as many better locations available at same or lower price.
PPengguna TetamuI slept one night (25-26 November 2023), alongside with two friends. The location is perfect. The dormitories were fine, the temperature was perfect and the beds were clean and comfortable. However, the windows really need to be replaced, because they are way too thin, resulting in poor noise insulation. While I was trying to sleep, the dormitory was quiet, but I could not sleep well because of the noise coming from street (especially drunk people shouting loudly), which was as strong as if a window was wide open. The bathroom was perfect with showers, toilets and taps. It's the perfect deal if you want to visit Bath for one night or two, acknowledging that you will stay in the hostel only to sleep. I would also advise the hostel to tell its customers on the booking description that they bring a padlock with them to lock the storage cages located under the beds. Because on their own description they just say that they sell padlocks, but don't explain why. I always have one in my backpack, so I could lock my stuff, but it was not the case of my two friends, who therefore took their backpack in town with them.
