Hotel Starkl - Heritage & Unique

Very small hotel without an elevator / lift. Breakfast was not good (stale items, very small selection). Service was ok and people at the front desk are quite kind.

Really good hotel, close to the main shops and restaurant. Just in front of the lake, hikes are very close from the hotel. The food in the restaurant is really good, we had a very good stay

We stayed for 4 nights, lovely hotel across the street from Lake Bled, away from the commercial district (15mins walk). Boats are located to get to the center island as well. The restaurant has great food, we ate there every night because of the restaurants in the commercial area was mostly pizza places. Because of the beautiful views from this area, many tour buses stop outside to allow tourist for picture taking, it could be noisy if your window is open, otherwise, you don't hear anything once windows are closed. Rooms are small, very clean and be sure to book one with a view of the lake. Bathroom has a small shower, if you're a large person, this could be a challenge. The hotel does not have an elevator, depending on who is available at the desk, you may need to bring up your luggage up to one or two floors, pack light. I'm a travel advisor and would certainly reserve this hotel for clients that don't have challenges going up & down stairs, and with understanding of a very small shower. I want to give a shout out to our girl " Tjasa" , she made our stay extra special by giving us ideas on what do to, and is a " jack of all trades", the girl does everything around the hotel, including help with our luggage, she certainly is an asset to the hotel. Everyone at the desk was helpful, including Jozsef at breakfast, he kept the dining area very clean and was constantly making sure everything was filled. If you love to walk, it's easy to go around the Lake Bled, it's about 6.8 miles with several areas for taking breaks, make it a glorious day in do so. We will certainly go back to Lake Bled and stay @ Hotel Starkl, it's a little gem right on the lake with excellent service both hotel & restaurant!

Lovely stay - Very welcoming and accommodating staff nothing was too much to ask. Breakfast options were vast and varied, fresh warm bread every morning - gluten free and also vegan options available - the staff knew my husband liked a big mug of tea and would bring him a mug specially for him every morning which I thought was such a lovely touch. The rooms are clean airy and newly decorated in a lovely style and also smelt lovely - we had daily maid service who gave clean towels and made the bed. Yes the rooms are small and also the shower I'm 5ft and found my self banging my elbows on the shower door the first few times! With two suitcases there really wasn't any more wriggle room - but what I will say is the view over looking the lake makes up for all of that - it was so lovely to look out every morning you felt like you were on the lake its self - good AC and double glazed windows - a suggestion for the room would be if there could be some hooks added just so you can hang things up and also a few small shelves to put things on I think this would really help with the layout of the room and make things more accessible. location wise there is a restaurant attached to the Hotel - we ate here once - lovely view and attentive staff serving a range of different dishes - you even get a complimentary glass of bubbles which was a lovely touch - its around a 20min walk in the main town of Bled where there are more restaurants and bars - there is a free shuttle bus that comes around but we found this unreliable and found it easier to walk - right outside you can get a row boat or gondola boat over to the lake bled island or just along for that chill out on the bank and go to a lovely dip in the beautiful lake bled - overall we had a beautiful stay and would recommended to anyone thinking of going - thank you!

As soon as I walked into this charming boutique hotel, I felt right at home! It had beautifully stylish decor, and smelt gorgeous thanks to the Green cardamom Rituals fragrance diffuser - same as what I have at home :-) The staff were super efficient and friendly. We were given a complimentary glass of Prosecco each at the on-site restaurant which was a lovely touch! They also provided us with complimentary Julian Alps cards which are very handy for various discounts. The room (junior suite) was beautiful, very comfortable and included amenities like slippers, tea, coffee, 2 TVs etc. The hotel had kindly left a colouring book and crayons for my 6-year old boy - again, a nice, thoughtful gesture. The bathroom had my favourite Rituals toiletries which I so appreciated! Breakfast was lovely and I especially enjoyed the fresh fruit and smoothie bowls. The views of the gleaming Lake Bled from the dining area made breakfast extra special. In the evenings, we mainly dined at the on-site Restaurant Starkl which served very generous portions and was very good. The bus stop is opposite the hotel making it very convenient when visiting Bohinj or going into Bled village for example. Lake Bled is the most magical setting - its’s like stepping into a fairytale. The hotel’s location is unbeatable as it’s right opposite the lake and a 15-min walk into the “centre” of the village, the castle, the Waterpark etc. Opposite the hotel, you see the gorgeous pletna boats that take you to Bled island. The hotel has set up a pop-up bar/cafe on the other lake shore opposite the road which is great especially in the evenings as you watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail while listening to the soothing church bells from island. As I write this review several months after my stay, I’m transported back to the serenity of the lake and its surrounds and the joyful memories of being there. We throughly enjoyed our 6-night stay at this fabulous hotel. On check out, the staff surprised us with a lovely gift (Prosecco and a toy puzzle for my son) which was so unexpected and kind. If you want to stay at a welcoming, stylish hotel in the most magical setting, this is the place :-) Book it now!

The hotel has a great kitchen with very delicious food. The location is fantastic with lovely views. Highly recommended. Walking distance to Bled town. Very helpful staff. Great for families and couples. We stayed for 4 days with our friends on our way to Triglav trek.

Staff were super friendly and the restaurant had a very homey atmosphere.Sat inside because it was a bit chilly. My husband and I shared the fried chicken and it was delicious. We also each had a soup.They also have great prices on opened wine. 2€ per glass

Really Nice rooms’ freshly renovated and decorated with taste and latest trends ( Wood, white walls, dark Green Color accents ) Nice staircase and hallways - Nice staff ( however i wanted to complain about my neighboors maKing noise and there was no one présent at the reception at 22.45…) be aware that the Hotel does not have an elevator. The beds and pillows are excellents ! Nice interactive TV in the room with infos about place and history, on top of the Channels. The Shower is tiny ( i am 165 cm t’allais and normal weight, so not the biggest person… and my elbows were touching walls While Washing my hair) good location with view directly on the lake, and à parking for guests ! Essential in the summer when the town is so busy ! Also, know that Rooms are very expensive for a 3 stars Hotel . 220€/ night on average

We liked Hotel Starkl a lot. While not the biggest hotel room we've ever stayed in, our room fit a king-sized bed and two end tables, with plenty of floor room to move around. There was a ton of light, both natural and electrical -- more than almost any hotel room we have ever had. The bathroom was lovely and up to date, with an excellent shower. The HVAC was quiet. The location is excellent, steps from Lake Bled swimming and boating. The hotel will rent you a beach towel. Breakfast was my favorite of the entire trip because they offered mixed berries. None of the other 4 hotels we stayed at this trip did that, and some were very high-end. Moreover, the service was excellent. Multiple different front desk people made sure our early-morning taxi request was on file, and one was present to help us in case the taxi didn't show up in time. They handled our luggage up and down the stairs so we didn't need to (there is no elevator). They offered us carryout breakfast since we were leaving so early. They got us a patio table at their restaurant (where the food was excellent). They tried hard to get us the best room for us in the hotel, despite the fact that it was full. We were most appreciative of their efforts and really enjoyed our stay. Thanks to all involved. If there is anything to improve, it would be the same as almost every hotel everywhere -- add more luggage racks or benches so that we don't have to bend down to rifle through our suitcases.
