PROS * Incredible unique building * Iconic fairy-tale type structure * Stunning unique period-piece architecture * A true remnant of ”La Belle Epoque” * Isolated and tranquil (but only when day hikers have not yet arrived or have departed) * Stunning lobby and ground and first-floor * Exquisitely and tastefully furnished sitting rooms * Beautiful and well-manicured grounds * Unspeakable breath-taking scenery of the waterfalls and lake * Access to ”easy” super pleasant hikes along the waterfalls CONS * It can be hectic during the day with all the hikers * Primary access by boat and fun icular for guests, but cars can get there too ”I VISITED THIS PLACE”... ... because I was hiking up along and to the top of the waterfall, and this was a bonus to see and visit. It was quite busy with meals being served to the many many day visitors- there must have been at least 50-70 at any given moment. Surely the outside beauty speaks for itself but to see the inside lobby and sitting rooms and (at least two) indoor dining rooms for the honored guests- what surprising lush elegance and soft under spoken glamour. I was thrilled to be able to wander and explore all the public areas of the ground and first floor. TIPS It is truly an amazing place- even if your goal is to hike (and who doesn't want to hike), this place should be visited. On a passé 2 nuits dans cette belle auberge de jeunesse. Le cadre est magnifique, avec le lac de Brienz bleu-vert et des montagnes. Tout est propre et accueillant, le petit déjeuner est copieux ainsi que le repas qui est très bon. On aurait seulement pu se passer de la viande le soir qui n’était pas top. On dispose d’un petit jardin avec des tables et des transats qui donne sur le lac. Juste à côté,une mini-plage où se baigner. Séjour très réussi, je recommande vivement !

We arrived quite late into Brienz and the hotel was kind enough to pick us up from the train station. I didn’t catch her name but she was really lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Our room was beautiful, they arranged flowers and chocolates on the bed at special request for my birthday. The views over the lake are incredible, well worth the trip just for the location. The room we had was very clean and replenished daily. The rooms don’t have air conditioning so it could get pretty warm but we had a fan provided which was sufficient enough. Hotel in general was very clean, well presented and the prices for drinks quite reasonable. The staff are also friendly and approachable, they even gave us chocolates as a parting gift for staying with them. Breakfast was included in our stay, it was continental and the restaurant was quaint with stunning views over lake Brienz. The location is perfect for exploring Brienz with the train station a short walk down the hill. There was also a co-op near the station to stock up on snacks and drinks for the day. Brienz rothorn bahn is also within walking distance, along with the ferry port which is directly next to the train station if you choose to travel by boat. The ferry is every 2 hours, trains every 15 mins or so. You can also hire a boat on the lake which is a must do! I will most definitely stay here again. Wonderful hotel in perfect location.

Wir waren zu zweit (Ehepaar, 50, schweizer) für zwei Nächte im Hotel Brienz und empfanden es als sehr angenehm und freundlich. Das Zimmer war sauber und gemütlich. Das Essen im hoteleigenen Restaurant sehr lecker und die Bedienung freundlich, speditiv und kompetent.

La ubicación del hotel es inmejorable por las vistas al lago, sin embargo, está al lado de la iglesia por lo que cada media hora se oye una campana. La habitación que me tocó no estaba mal, el lavabo está junto a la ventana, pero el váter y la ducha tras una puerta corredera. Este último espacio no es muy amplio, aunque lo suficiente para maniobrar. Tienes jabón tanto en ducha como en lavabo. No obstante, había otras habitaciones con muebles muy antiguos y baño inadecuado. Las cenas correctas y los desayunos también.
