Mònica Hotel

The hotel looks in and outside very classy but then I was given room 209. The room was good and then i decided to go onto the balcony this is when it all went wrong. The view from the balcony was horrendous straight infront of me was the back of 2 apartments with balcony . Their balconies where a dumping ground for the tenants there. It had fridges freezers dirty cloths hanging on line animal cage and other bric bac. I would not have minded if I overlooked a street or shops but not eyesores. When you read on any room in the hotel that says it has a balcony then you at least expect a view , the hotel should say view from balcony not pleasant. Also the time we were there the tv never had any english channels or subtitles I appreciate you don't go on holiday to watch TV but I like to see a bit of news and weather. The hotel should put on thier website about the tv. I spoke to reception they said there was a notice stating no English channels due being new provideders and waiting for engineer , but they did not seem bothered. The breakfast was basic the same each day really not English breakfast as I know it. Dinner was very good. I don't think this hotel is a 4 more of a 3 star.

Before arriving I emailed the hotel to request 2 top floor rooms close together - I was not disappointed- the rooms faced the pool and were clean and adequate - our mini fridge had seen better days tho. The hotel could do with some attention - as it looks a little jaded - though it is in a great location a minute from the beach, harbour and town. The reception staff are lovely and very helpful and accommodating. Santos in the bar is a great character and very capable. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choice and good quality. Plenty of beds around the pool at all times. My only criticism is lack of staff at times at breakfast and in the bar area. For example we ordered 4 lunches from the bar - 2 arrived quite quickly / the last two an hour later with one meal undercooked and one overcooked - I didn’t complain (I did get refunded the undercooked meal) because I genuinely felt sorry for the girl manning the bar who was rushed off her feet! But not really what you would expect from a 4* hotel. I would return though.

Plusses: Clean, friendly, good food, entertainment good, adequate sun bed provision Negatives: When booking no option is given for location of apartment, ours were a long way (for me, as a disabled person) from the main hotel/restaurant/pool, and up a REALLY steep hill. And the drinking water provision.... you are advised not to drink the tap water in the hotel so your only option is to buy bottled water from the shop on site or down the road, if you can get there when they're open. I do feel that a 4 star hotel should make some accommodation for their guests for such a basic need! A tap where guests can refill bottles for instance. To be told last thing at night that your only option is to take a glass of water back along the long walk back to your apartment is surely not acceptable.

Excellent location. Glad we upgraded our room to a pool side/garden view. (Our daughter had a basic/standard room that had a very small TV and an unappealing view of a residential tower block). Food was good, not a massive choice but sufficient. Not loads of choice for veggies/vegans. The ladies who welcomed us each time to the dining area/ showed us to a table were welcoming and friendly. The waiting staff not so. Few of them appeared to enjoy their jobs and rarely smiled. The took our drinks order and cleared our plates but didn't engage. The house keeping ladies always acknowledged us. Bar prices were competitive. You could swap dinner for lunch. Pool wasn't that big but OK for swimming if it wasn't too busy. No problem getting a sun bed. There's a book swap cupboard near reception. TV had a couple of English channels. Booked with TUI - a stressful return transfer - only just made it to departure gate in time. Cambrils was pleasant but probably not somewhere I would return to.

Perfect central location, lovely clean hotel with friendly helpful staff. Pool area great with a good supply of beds all kept clean and tidy. We had a superior room with garden and pool view which was plenty big enough for the 2 of us (the bed was huge). Balcony only small and overlooked but this didn't bother us. There was entertainment every other night in the bar/Pool area. Big mention to bar staff especially Santos who is amazing. We will return :)

Brilliant hotel, great location, very well kept rooms, brilliant food and the reception staff are wonderful! Our first time here definitely did not disappoint. Only a few minutes walk from the lovely beach and seafront and easy access to shops and a host of great restaurants. We will definitely come back!

This was our first return to the hotel after COVID- our 5th time as a family- and it was really good to see that Monica and her hotel have weathered the storm. It is such a great hotel. We booked through Jet2- very good- but you can also book through Tui from the UK or directly with the hotel. We were a family of 7 with our ages ranging from 17-80 and there is something for everyone in the hotel and it’s environs. We took a variety of rooms and they were all really clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a superior overlooking the garden with a roof terrace but the single room had everything you need too. We were staying on a half board basis. In my opinion the food is the best it has ever been. Breakfast is extensive and the evening meal has food to suit all tastes. We particularly like the cooking station and the variety of food available that is cooked fresh in front of you. Drinks available are excellent value and served with a smile from Santos and his team. A big thanks to Baye (spelling?), the restaurant staff, chefs, reception team and the cleaners who all work hard to keep everything to a high standard. And a final thanks to Monica herself who makes us feel that her hotel is also our home. Cambrils and this hotel is for families and couples looking for an authentic Spanish holiday. The flight from Stansted and transfer is quick to Cambrils. Highly recommended.

Visited Cambrils Hotel Monika in June 2022 staying in room 408. Had a real chilled out holiday just what we wanted after the previous two years. Hotel is ideally situated, unfortunately street rebuilding to the side of the hotel which Jet2 were informed of in April spoiled the ambiance for those in the rooms facing the road. Despite notifying Jet2 ourselves there is still no warning on the site. This did not impact on the welcoming feeling of the hotel staff and general holiday experience for ourselves. The little cafe opposite the hotel entrance also added to the feeling of being welcomed into Cambrils and the cheese and ham toasties became an afternoon routine to such an extent that the young lady running it even came to say goodbye on the day we left. We will return next year, book up and enjoy.

Perfect location, near the beach, shops, restaurants, bars and harbour. The staff are excellent, very helpful and always smiling. The food is SUPERB, choice and quality of produce outstanding, well done. The bedroom, a superior pool and garden view was fine,the air con was brilliant but no tea or coffee facilities in the room and the washbasin and walk in shower, with glass panels are both in the bedroom. A wonderful holiday, in a perfect hotel I can't wait to return.
