Top hotel in Franschoek ideally located close to the Main Street. We were overnighting in the town and were pleasantly surprised by this gem of a hotel. Quaint, modern and quite private as there are not too many rooms. Rooms are spacious, neat, clean and recently refurbished. Ideally annexed to the Hussar grill that offers top quality cuisine. We arrived late in the evening, the restaurant had already closed. The kind front desk clerk called the restaurant and spoke to Thomas, who offered to have something made for us and delivered to our room. ( This hotel doesn't have room service). We had a nice steak and some wine, really needed after a long trip from the USA. In the morning, I was amazed by our surroundings. This is a beautifully situated resort. Our room was small but comfortable for the price. The included breakfast offered hot selections and a buffet, which was very filling. The dinners at the restaurant were excellent and well-priced. The golf facility is first-rate, with stunning views. We didn't have a car, which would be helpful if we were here longer than two nights. There isn't any place you can walk to. The Uber App was unreliable, but the front desk can help with transport. With a car, this would make an ideal location for a longer stay in Stellenbosch.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay here, comfortable room with a couple of quirks and a very good restaurant. Breakfast is outstanding, and the baked goods available are worthy of an award. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had a Plenty room and as it is the top category room, were a little disappointed not to have a balcony as we could see other rooms have. There was a nice alcove with windows overlooking the pool but only 1 comfy chair so would suggest adding another armchair so both guests can enjoy. My other piece of feedback would be to opaque fully the glass between shower/toilet and bedroom as a night visit to the loo either needs to be torchlit or wake the other occupant when turning light on. The location on a central street was great for us although I would be nervous of noise if in a room overlooking it. Overall a decent hotel.

One of the largest and nicest rooms (207) I have stayed in for some time. Clean, modern and everything you need. Great complimentary coffee. World class estate with so many facilities you can use. Backs Restaurant: Small but very affordable menu. Friendly staff. Valley Restaurant: You can eat about the same breakfast for almost half the price at “Backs” Negatives: Golf: This must be the in the top 5 most expensive courses in South Africa to play as a affiliated member. Not really catering for South Africans. As a very avid golfer, I am not willing to pay that fee. Even the discounted rate if you stay in the hotel is exorbitant. 2/10 Access to the estate is shockingly slow and ineffective, especially for hotel staying/returning guests. Every day the same procedure to gain access. Code only valid for 1-day. R40 for still water in a normal plastic bottle! Price: 6/10 Staff:9/10 Location: 9/10 Facilities: 9/10 Overall: 8/10 As the estate is so large, a map of the location of all the facilities would be great.

This is delightful guesthouse a short drive from the centre of Paarl. Located up a drive through the gardens in a fairly quiet spot. We were just off a long overnight flight into CapeTown so really appreciated relaxing on the shaded sunbeds next to the pool. Solar and battery backup to cover load shedding Our room was large (Deluxe King Room), very comfortable and well equipped. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower powerful with loads of hot water all of the time. Breakfast was great and enjoyed on the terrace, honestly bar very handy and price reasonable. The real highlight was our lovely host Jolanda who could not do enough for us. Her days out and restaurant choices were spot on. We visited the beach on one day and even lent us a beach umbrella and seat which was really appreciated Highly recommended
