Firstly we would not say this is a 4 star hotel, possibly a 2 star however, we paid €60 per night (plus €15 per night parking) in mid July for a double room on the 6th floor and we thought it was good value for money. The good things first, staff were exceptionally friendly with the front desk always manned. Our room was large and airy with good air con and the bed very large and comfortable. Location is perfect for the town centre which is a 10 to 15 minute stroll away. Things to improve on …. The allocated hotel spaces in the underground parking are exceptionally tight - if you have a car bigger than a Ford Focus you will probably struggle to park here. Despite exchanging emails on different subjects before our visit they never told us that improvement work was being carried out on the hotel; you don’t even get told on your check in - there is just a sign in the lift. Consequently, when we were woken up in the morning at 9am with the sound of jack hammers we were not impressed. Our room on the top (6th) floor was very dated and certainly looked nothing like the rooms shown on their websites. The double glazing had no effect in stopping outside street noises especially the street sweeper at 6 am. The bathroom is not vented nor has an openable window, there are no cups or glasses of any type supplied in the room; free tea and coffee is available in the foyer. There is no bar or restaurant in the ‘4 star’ hotel though a continental breakfast can be purchased. So, would we go back or recommend this hotel - strangely yes if the price stays the same and they complete the renovations.

If you accept the fact that you will need to catch the bus to the port abd city centre then Hotel Manolo is a good value, clean and comfortable place to stay in Cartagena. It is either a 3km, 40 minute walk to the port or €1.20 on the number seven bus! The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with air conditioning and a fridge (which is a bonus in a Spanish hotel). The staff were courteous and helpful and the menu del noche varied and good value (there were very few restaurants open on our first night which was a Monday). There is also a lovely Spanish tapas bar within five minutes walk from the hotel - El Paso de Los Elefantes. I would recommend Hotel Manolo and the tapas restaurant.

We just checked out of this Cartagena Sercotel hotel and we had a very comfortable stay. The hotel lived up to the standard of the Sercotel Group with a polished and always polite and courteous staff. A special mention to the reception staff, Mariano, MaJose and Isabel who were so helpful doing our stay. The room we had was a junior suite which was really spacious and the bed was huge and super comfy. We would definitely stay at a Sercotel hotel again!

El hotel limpio, en la habitación faltaba la cafetera como ponía en la descripción. La cama grande, el colchón un poco duro, las almohadas estupendas. El baño regular, hemos pedido una ducha pero nos dieron la bañera. Los artículos de aseo regular, colocados un poco en mal sitio y además el uso es más difícil. Faltaban el resto de los artículos que pone en descripción del hotel. El desayuno muy rico pero poco variable , muy elegante el comedor y mucha tranquilidad, pero el precio es un poco elevado.

Excellent location. Situated in the heart of Cartagena, the hotel is 5 minutes walking distance from train n bus station, The University, shopping mall of Carrefour n Corte Anglis, as well 10 minutes fm Plaza Sebastian, and waterfront. So if you are a tourist or at a conference, it saves time n money. The breakfast spread was good. There are no electric kettles in rooms or tea n coffee. However when we requested one the staff was helpful n provided one to us. The room was cleaned everyday n fresh linen provided. The restaurant serves good food too so if you would like a late dinner you need not venture out. The hotel is old hence no exhaust in bathrooms and some lobby n corridor carpet refurbishing would help. I also suggest duvets be provided, not just blankets as with the aircon at an environment friendly setting of 25 degrees, duvet would be comfortable but a blanket makes it hot in bed. Rooms and bathrooms are quite big n accomodative compared to other hotels in town.
