We love The Manor House! What a beautiful setting in the tiny jewel of Castle Combe! We stayed here many years ago when visiting the Cotswolds and always vowed to return, so we did! The Manor House itself is a classic English country manor with all the trimmings. Beautiful public rooms and very spacious bedroom…we took the “plush view” and we are perched right above the bar area with a view of the beautiful centuries old sequoia (that’s right, sequoia!) which we remembered from our first visit. Incredible! We have an ultra modern bathroom complete with stand-alone bathtub, and very modern walk-in shower with three kinds of nozzle options. Excellent dining options from the Castle Inn, which is part of the hotel, a short walk through their Mews cottages (where we stayed years ago), right next to the Market Cross, to dining in one of the lounges in the Manor House, to the Michelin starred Bybrook. Breakfast is served in the Bybrook as well. (See my other reviews on dining, though we passed on the 7-course only meal option at Bybrook). The staff is as nice as staff can get. So helpful. It’s a short walk into the lovely village and it’s famous scene from the bridge where Dr Doolittle was filmed many years ago. The beauty of it is that nothing has changed in 400 years. Not a shopping place except for a small home baked good stare, and a weekend market in the small town hall with about 10 vendors., They also have a marvelous golf course named “The Manor House”. We walked there from the hotel…the fairways and greens look terrific, and nicely tended to…wish I had time to play it…next time. We dined in the Clubhouse of the course and had excellent fish and chips…sandwiches and burgers also available…with full bar. There are number of nice walks from the easy loop into town and back to 1, 2 and 2 hour walks with various terrain. The included breakfast at the Bybrook was excellent with tasty smoked salmon and eggs, Eggs Benedict, etc and continental buffet. Highly Recommend!
