-No elevator upon arrival. It appeared one front desk agent was training another during my check-in. I was informed the elevator did not work but should work later today. I am not one to care or even want concierge service or help with bags - I actually hate it. But when you put me on the 3rd floor and I have rolling baggage - and not a little, perhaps have your trainee guy at least help with my bag when I need to drag them up to the 3rd floor. It would have taken 5 minutes to get me to my room had they helped. Instead it was a very unpleasant experience and took me like 15 minutes and a lot of frustration and expended energy. -The hallways and room numbers are absurdly confusing. Orientate yourself quickly. It seems to be shaped like a U, whereas though it is a square, you cannot get from the two points next to each other by hallway. The secret is to cut through the courtyard I discovered after getting lost for like 15 minutes. -No pool or hot tub- as it seems permanently closed. At least the hotel website did not list a pool or hot tub. -Balcony in my room was locked shut. You can open the door, but the screen door stays locked. What is the point of a balcony that you cannot use? -Clean, appeared fairly new. The lobby looked nice. -Late check out keys not work after having them extended. So instead I had to wait in line to re-key cards while I was in a rush leaving. This is exactly why I ensured the keys were set to include the late check out time. So apparently being pro-active to stop a common problem hotels have, it still got messed up by the hotel.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Dulles Airport Chantilly

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Dulles Airport Chantilly is a decent hotel near Dulles airport and centrally located within Northern Virginia. I have stayed at least one night a week for the past year and keep coming back for many reasons. One is the quality of service provided by both Nassir in the evening at the front desk and Sandra in the morning during breakfast in their lounge. These two employees always go above and beyond to ensure each guest is recognized and helped with any requests. Nassir has been consistently attentive to my room requests, ensuring all my needs are met and providing excellent customer service. Sandra always ensures that breakfast items are available, guests are greeted, and she also makes sure that they come out with a smile after breakfast. One small token of appreciation I have seen her do is to provide a small candy to each guest after they finish breakfast and wish them a great day. You don't see that often in a Fairfield Inn, but in higher-end hotels where attention to detail is always relevant. These two employees genuinely deserve a lot of credit for the work that they do. Regardless of any criticism in other reviews about this property, when a staff member goes above and beyond to ensure that guests are recognized and treated fairly, it does make it easier to come back to this property. I would highly recommend it and continue returning because these two employees love what they do.

This is a great place to stay when traveling to northern Virginia. It is convenient to the airport, very clean room with a mini kitchen, nice bedding, good service, and very courteous staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to travel to this area; either for business or pleasure.

We paid $100 via Booking.com for a queen suite room 212. First of all the front door was warped like someone had tried to push it in, making it hard to unlock. The room was dreary and tired. The thing that did it for me though was there was dried shower gel still on the soap tray in the shower and a hair. I went straight down to reception and politely asked for a refund, showing photos on my phone. The young guy on reception said his manager wasnt around to give a refund, but he could put us in another room. I asked if we could have a nicer room under the circumstances so he showed me room 213 across the hall. It was a larger queen suite. I thanked him knowing he did his best, but again it was a tired room. Other reviews I have seen have mentioned this a few years back, and I think management said it was due to be refurbished. This does not appear to have been carried out, and in my opinion you would have to remove all the chipped doors, replace carpets and sofas…. The list does go on. I am attaching photos of room 213. The hairdryer said it all. Lots of dirty finger prints never wiped off. If you want to stay in a cheaper hotel, the beds are comfy. That might be all you need. However, we were spoiled on our outward journey staying at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Herndon nearby. It was fantastic. I would definitely pay the extra $30 in future for a room there. Oh and the free airport shuttle was an old vehicle with the hotel name on a piece of A4 paper taped to the window. We watched the other hotel shuttles go by looking very smart. We felt even in the shuttle, we knew what was coming!

We stay at this hotel regularly when we visit family. The hotel is clean, rooms are clean and quiet. If you park in the back by the lower level elevators there are multiple sets of doors with room key readers on them however on our past 2 visits only the far right reader works to open the doors. On this visit, neither of the 2 treadmills were working. There were no “out of service” signs on them so we informed the front desk. The person we spoke with said she was aware and that a technician would be coming to look at the issues. This being the case, I’m not sure why no one took a couple of minutes to place a sign on the 2 treadmills. The restaurant/breakfast needs improvement. The charge for the minimal continental breakfast is $9.95. If this charge wasn’t covered within my Diamond status I wouldn’t bother with it. Today at 8:30 there was very little left of the self-service breakfast items. For example, there was 1-2 servings left of fruit in the bowls, there was only whole milk, there were no bowls or silverware available, the breads, pastries were not well stocked. Also we were not offered any drink, water, juice, etc. as we had been during our first 2 days or on prior visits. We showed up yesterday for breakfast at 9:15am and were told the breakfast area was closed. The hours for the hotel restaurant where this breakfast is served at listed at 6:00am-10:00pm. I could not find anything that actually lists the breakfast hours. Also there were plenty of people eating when we arrived and the food was still out. To add to all this, I noticed on my bill that I was charged for the breakfasts we ate when it should be included as one of the Diamond benefits. The person at the front desk apologized and said it would be corrected. We have a few more stays here that we pre-booked but need to evaluate whether there are better options.
