Never have I been as sad on my last day of vacation as I was about leaving Wentworth Mansion. From the beautifully adorned rooms and Victorian charm to the exemplary staff that goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure guests are wowed, every part of my experience at Wentworth proved remarkable. I'll start with the room. My sister and I stayed in one of the Mansion Rooms, Room 15. Incredibly spacious, immaculate, and superbly decorated, our room gave us a sense of having stepped back in time, all while affording us all of the modern luxuries we would expect at a five-star hotel. As for the property itself, we absolutely loved the parlor and sun porch, and spent quite a bit of time there enjoying wine and hors d'oeuvres, port, and even a few card games. While it was too hot outside to enjoy the garden and rooftop to the extent that we would have liked (hello, Charleston in July), we're definitely planning a trip back during a cooler month so we can do just that. They're stunning! And now for my favorite part of staying at Wentworth Mansion - the staff. Together, they are the epitome of hospitality. That said, I would be remiss not to mention a few staff members in particular, as I truly believe they help make Wentworth Mansion the first-rate experience that it is. - Bryan and Will, who were easily the best concierges I have ever encountered. On a rainy afternoon that saw our outdoor plans canceled, Bryan, who was the personification of southern charm and hospitality, brought out cards and games for my sister and I to play in the parlor, prepared hot tea when my sister voiced that she was craving it, and checked in intermittently to make sure we had all we needed. He also took the time to talk to us about the home and its decor, a favorite subject of ours, and his pride in the place was evident at every turn, making us appreciate the mansion that much more. As for Will, with whom we had various pleasant interactions as we bustled in and out of Wentworth, he was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. He chatted with us about the house and Charleston enthusiastically, making the effort to learn about our interests and offering up ideas for fun things to do, great places to dine, etc. On getting back to the mansion during a storm, he ran out to greet us with umbrellas to ensure we stayed dry. - Kevin, who took great care of both his guests and the property. He was incredibly hospitable and attentive, exuded pride in Wentworth Mansion, and genuinely made us feel welcome at every turn. - Mark, who made our arrival and departure seamless - thank you! - Kadeisha from housekeeping, who did a wonderful job with making sure we always walked into a room that was as clean and beautifully made up as it had been when we checked in. Needless to say, I can't wait to go back! It's definitely my hotel of choice in Charleston through and through.
