Hotel berhampiran Wenshu Temple, Chengdu

We were not disappointed, in fact the stay exceeded expectations. Not only were the rooms in traditional style, they were clean and well maintained. Also, the service was excellent from the moment we arrived. We were helped with our heavy luggage by the team including 小李 to check-in and to our rooms. The hotel compound itself is worth a visit with historic buildings and even antique cars. Location is great as the main entrance opens to the attractions at 文殊院.

Rarely do I feel the need to write reviews although I've traveled a lot in my life. However, I can't not mention the stunning unprofessionalism of this hotel's front desk. In short, they don't know how to work with foreign guests and I would advise against choosing this hotel if you are a fellow foreign traveler. 1. Hotel in this price range, I'd expect someone to be able to speak English at the front desk. Nobody spoke English to me there. Maybe they couldn't or didn't want to. 2. They completely bungled the police registration part. I have two visas in my passport: Chinese and American. With minimal knowledge and training, it's very easy to tell the difference between the two. (Or, if you are not sure which one is which, just ask!) They, however, mistook my American visa for the Chinese one. Good thing I noticed just in time and told them to redo the registration process! Or I'd have to waste even more time dealing with the police and whatnot. 3. For some reason, they started asking me about my exact entry date into China: year-month-day, thus pointlessly wasting even more of my time. (It's been awhile and I don't actually remember my exact entry date). I've been to many different provinces and cities in China, and not once did any hotel in there ask me about my entry date into China. This hotel's front desk asking me for this info is just another example of the staff not knowing what they are doing and how to proceed with foreigners. Overall, nice environment in the hotel, but very unprofessional front desk staff. Not recommended for any fellow foreign travelers.

When we arrived, the concierge spoke good English and understood the rules around 15 day visa free stays in China (I've had trouble with other hotels on this trip wanting to see my mother's visa when she doesn't have one). The hotel is extremely beautiful with ornate fittings and Chengdu embroideries. Our room had a lovely balcony that overlooked the quaint street below. The location is in the middle of a shopping district that is expensive but contains beautiful woodwork, embroideries and jewellery for sale. There are a couple of theatres in the area showing Sichuan face change opera which was the highlight of our stay. The hotel will arrange for your laundry to be washed, but even without dry cleaning, it was expensive. The breakfast service was great.

A complete paradise in the city! This hotel is a gem. The staff at XISHU Garden are so helpful. They were caring for myself and other foreign travelers in the lobby. The staff spoke English well and could help me extend my stay. 🪷Vegetarian options on the menu 🌾 The halls and the rooms were all clean and well decorated. This location is very comfortable. The shared room is a good size. The sleeping cubby is large enough for a good sleep. (Anyone over 6 ft tall may need to consider size). From TianFu Int. Airport ride MTR line 18 and transfer at South Railway Station to Line 1. Ride to Wenshu monastery station, leave out exit K. At the Garden Inn: enjoy the living garden courtyard, in-house cooked meals, and comfortable furniture.

While the property's proximity to one of the city's premier tourist destinations is undoubtedly a boon, the mere 10-minute stroll from the nearest metro station is somewhat offset by the arduous 1.5-hour commute from the Tianfu Airport. However, this minor inconvenience is more than compensated for by the hotel's close proximity to a veritable cornucopia of local eateries, each offering a tantalizing array of regional delicacies. Furthermore, the establishment's fundamental standards of cleanliness and tidiness, coupled with its remarkably affordable pricing, render it a tempting proposition for the discerning traveler. Regrettably, the hotel's secluded location may give rise to certain reservations, particularly for female guests, who may find the sense of isolation somewhat unsettling. The complete absence of cold water, a fundamental amenity, is a glaring oversight that can only be described as utterly deplorable and potentially hazardous. Adding to the compound's woes is the curious configuration of the floor upon which I have been granted lodging, which appears to be a curious amalgamation of guest quarters and staff dormitories, lending an air of awkwardness to the proceedings. Finally, the presence of a tea set devoid of its essential component – the tea leaves – is a peculiarity that, while not entirely crippling, nonetheless serves to underscore the minor oversights that have crept into the hotel's otherwise commendable service. In conclusion, while the Wenshu Monastery hotel presents a compelling proposition for the budget-conscious traveler seeking convenient access to Chengdu's cultural treasures, the shortcomings outlined above cannot be overlooked, and prospective guests would do well to weigh the pros and cons with due diligence before committing to their stay.

真的是很好，沒想到這個價位可以租到這麼好的房間交通真的超級方便樓下就是地鐵站周邊吃的也很多早上出來吃了這一家腸粉這家腸粉排了很長的隊但還是等了一下味道真的很不錯怪不得這麼多人來吃他們家。

Hostel is at a very convenient location in Chengdu. The atmosphere is convivial and the shared rooms are cozy. Our room was frugal and not that cozy. The shared bathroom could be cleaner. The washing amenities are not ideal as there is no good spot to dry your clothes and the hostel in general is a bit damp on rainy days. Service was helpful, english-speaking and very friendly, though not everything was great. We had booked a room with a window and when we arrived, found out that the window was only towards the building. We had a water leakage the first night and the reception directly offered us a new room, with a real window this time. Overall, we had a nice experience and met some great people, though the comfort and facilities of the hostel could be improved.

Perfect stay at the perfect place. The staff is so kind and hospitable. They will help you organise your day and tell you what is worth visiting and how to do it. They speak perfect English, they give you a lot of suggestions on what to do, especially Penny, who helped us so many times and answered all the questions, and you can ask anything you need and they will take care of it. We had the best stay at Sonderia

Superb experience and great choice staying in the hotel. The room is amazing spacious with the price that I paid. Great location (walking distance to train station and attractions), generous breakfast, value for money, friendly and helpful housekeeper. Overall 4 stars hotel with 5 stars feel. Will choose the same hotel if I come Cheng Du again.
