Having read some of the recent reviews, I was expecting to find a poorly presented hotel. Not so! It's such a pity when inexperienced reviewers feel it is their duty to nit-pick and trash a business trying to do a good job for its customers. Anyway, enough of that. We stayed at Sunnybank Star for 6 nights and found the room very spacious and comfortable. There is plenty of parking in a secure area. What impressed us was the price for a hotel located in reasonable proximity of the Brisbane CBD. We used the 150 bus just outside the hotel for our trips into town. The room was well fitted, good bathroom (yes, dated but clean). The room has 12 power outlets - a first for us with so many devices, chargers, electric toothbrush etc these days. The bed was comfortable with good lighting in the room. The ancillary equipment met all our needs. The house and reception staff were all very helpful and polite and made our stay in Brisbane a pleasant one. Well done Sunnybank Star. We'll definitely be back. Recommend!

Their swift resolution of the situation showcased their professionalism and willingness to ensure guests' comfort and happiness. In a world where exceptional customer service can be elusive, this team sets a remarkable example. Mona, Isaiah, Trish, and Teri deserve my heartfelt appreciation for transforming my stay into a remarkable experience. The hotel should take immense pride in having such dedicated individuals who redefine the meaning of exceptional service.

Stayed for 5 nights, room was good size, beds very comfortable. Room included small bar fridge, kitchen sink, plates, cups, coffee & tea making facilities and microwave. Bathroom facilities can't fault. 10 minute walk to Westfield shopping Garden City. We didn't utilise the breakfast facilities however we noticed that breakfast consisted of cereal, toast. Plenty of onsite parking. Bus terminal next door. Staff very friendly and keen to assist. Would recommend.

Great diverse atmosphere. Ticks Most boxes. Both Deb and Larry are professional and friendly. However. Try asking for a table at 4 Pm. All tables are booked I was told. From 1930 ? Strange system. I did address this directly with the General manager. Politely told me ask the staff. Not what I expected. However the welcome and service is always great. The business is consistent. Clearly he’s doing an exemplary job. Will always recommend.

Central to everything. Shops, McDonalds, Restaurants, most conveniences. Rooms were clean, serviced daily, great little breakfast package every day. Undercover parking was fantastic as it rained the whole time I stayed. Parking is right out the front of the unit, large car spots supplied . Friendly reception staff, housekeepers were warm and accomodating also. The showers were lovely. Beautiful rain drop head on the showers with lovely hot water. Excellent after a long day out. Block out curtains for a sleep in if required. A designated smoking area was a nice touch also. Meals can be delivered to your room easily, nice variety of food available as well. I stayed on reception side which made traffic noise hardly noticeable. My stay was a week long. Only one small hiccup with the fire alarm early one morning. Only small downside is there is no micro-wave.

What a great experience we have just had (18-20 Aug 23) From friendly check-in to efficient check out. Stayed in Villa which was comfortable and clean. Beds were very comfortable giving a solid nights rest for both nights. Was tired on first night so ordered in from restaurant - food was excellent with steak cooked perfect to order and all food delivered hot and within 20mins of order. Very quiet as we were right at the back of a very big complex. This may be different if your room is closer to the main road at the front of the complex. Breakfast restaurant staff friendly especially Cho who wasnt shy to share a laugh, very helpful - it all added to a great experience for us all. We had to pick up a very delicate birthday cake the next morning (for 1st Bday)which the Chef kindly allowed us to store in kitchen cooler until needed. Staff more than happy to help. Buffet was more than adequate for 3 hungry people and a la carte (great range) was very tasty. Buffet refreshed constantly with Chef watching on constantly. Only (minor issue) was shower which was a little underpowered and slow to drain. NOTE: Book through hotel site as you may end up paying 'booking fee' Glad we found this gem as we travel NSW - Brisbane often. This is our new go to

The Calamvale Hotel seems like it is in an odd location, but there aren't many other choices in this part of Brisbane Southside. I stayed for two nights with two rooms in-between moving out of a property and leaving Brisbane. Check in was fast and easy and was in the 3rd floor rooms within minutes. Parking in the afternoon was no problem with space out front and in the basement. Note the carpark does get busy in the evening with patrons attending the restaurant. The rooms were very generously sized, modern and clean. Beds and pillows were great and the bathrooms were great too. I didn't eat at the restaurant this time, but had previously. Expect the typical Australian pub fare. Overall, a pleasant and drama free stay. My only criticism would be the room rate is steep considering it isn't a CBD hotel, but as mentioned there aren't many options in this part of Brisbane. I'd likely stay again if I needed to be in the area.

I originally booked 3 nights accommodation, but thankfully needed to check out a day early (still waiting on my refund for the third night and hoping it's simply a case of banking delays, trusting it to come through). This motel is in a pretty dodgy area. The courtyard behind the room is not private and can be accessed by anyone, as is what happened on the first night. I could hear people walking by the glass sliding door (it's gravel, so very noisy). I did not feel safe. I awoke early the next morning and caught them attempting to get into my car. As a lone female traveler, this was extremely disconcerting. Their website explicitly states that wifi is an included facility, yet upon checking in, the booklet in the room states ”Due to poor internet connectivity, we do not advertise that we have free wifi. Staff will not tolerate abuse”. I literally booked this motel because it stated that wifi was available and I have a business to run. Very disappointing. Check in is stated for 2pm, yet I received a text message at 1.30pm that they were closing up for the day so I needed to pick my keys up from a lockbox. When I did need to call and speak to reception, they were closed and I got the afterhours line, they didn't really know what they were doing and just told me the morning staff would sort it out (this was for checking out a day early). As someone who worked in hotels for 2 years on the front desk, an early check out is something ANYONE answering the phone, afterhours or not, needs to know. Lastly, the room smellt of cigarettes and there were literal holes in the sheets. About the size of pencil in diameter. Very poor stay overall. Would not go back.
