The bed was so hard and uncomfortable. I tossed and turned all night waking up with my shoulders and back aching. The shower pressure was really low making the shower water flow really slowly. I wouldn't recommend this property if you're staying in Launceston.

I stayed 6 nights at the Areca in Launceston. Quick and easy check-in. Very friendly staff at reception. The reception is not at Areca but only just behind at the Waratah on York. There is a night entrance and lots of security camera’s around. As a solo traveller I definitely felt very safe. I would definitely recommend the hotel. Great location, beautiful view of City Park and beyond. There is no lift but I managed to manoeuvre my luggage quite easily. The hotel is small and located away from traffic noise, which is great for a good night’s sleep. The bed was super comfy, as were the pillows. Nice toiletries supplied along with tea and coffee station. A lovely walk to town to try out many of the amazing cafes. If you have any issues with climbing stairs then I would recommend you request the ground floor. You would definitely need a car if you have any mobility issues as there is a very steep hill to walk down. I walked up and down for my entire stay without any issues and I’m a moderately fit 60 year. I will definitely be staying at the Areca on my next visit.

Had two nights at the Hideaway - check in was friendly and helpful with local knowledge Location is great - easy walk to the CBD and lots of dining options The loft room was very nice and comfortable - shower very compact though The downside is lugging your suitcases up a staircase to get to your door

Not bad overall, very clean and convenient. Great location. One thing is - they don't have a reception, we have a late flight, so we can't leave our bags there.

STAY HERE!! Location / price / view / service / awesomeness!!! THE OWNER Lets start here! Tim, who is the owner and lives local is sensational and really makes the stay absolutely awesome!!! He has a yarn with all the guests at breakfast (which was included) and makes the effort to ask questions and get to know the guest :) wow - what a difference this makes to a stay! I never realised it until I met Tim - what I also loved was that you can tell he has REAL PRIDE in his business as he talks excitedly about the upgrades he is going through and this excitement for the business flows on to the staff that work for him who were all lovely, happy, friendly and helpful 1. I was upgraded upon checkin - my room was awesome! Top level great views! 2. I had a late checkout which was great as I had a late flight 3. Help with info on where to go and what to see - specifically Tim saying to come down and see him daily if I needed help on where to go 4. Shuttle service to airport help 5. Had an early check in at 12pm - Tim accomodated me as I had an early flight Tim even helped to organise the airport shuttle for me and called them up to secure a good price 😀 what service!! If only all owners took a page out of Tims book THE ROOM Wow! Loved it! Nice, clean with awesome views!! I was lucky to get upgraded and had top floor views over Launceston town and I couldnt wait to head back to the room after a day of exploring The bed was soooooooooooo comfortable and the BEST pillows ive ever experienced - I hope I can find 1 to buy for myself! So good! The shower… hello! What great pressure and hot water is fantastic! Mini fridge and microwave with cutlery if you want to have your own meals (which I did) so was perfect for me and one of main reasons I chose this accom BREAKFAST Amazingggggg fresh fruit!!! Chopped fruit around 8 options - this was the best part for me! Also choices of cereals and juices Toast - white / brown / raisin with jams honey peanut butters Black Coffee You can also upgrade and pay for a hot breakfast If you need parking there is free on the property Lift is quick and easy to use Bags kept at reception safe and sound when needed I have nothing negative to say at all about this accom but they have set the bar high in customer service for me Thanks Tim! The hotel, which is an ex-convent, is very clean and comfortable, with super-comfy beds - and the best stocked bar fridge we've ever seen! The manager is passionate about the hotel, generously sharing tips and knowledgeable about the local area. In fact, he shared a couple of fascinating stories with us from when the hotel was the Presentation Sister's Convent. The room we stayed in the first night held a king-size bed, with clean, white sheets and comfortable mattress. Fluffy white towels also provided in bathroom. On the second trip, we had a larger room with bath and QS bed. I would have preferred another KS bed, as room was larger, however, bed was again very comfortable and we both had a good sleep. Hotel is located on west side of Launceston, with Cuccina cafe a quick walk down the road. This same street (Frederick) leads up to Cataract Gorge and some of the amazing architectural gems of Launceston. Would definitely stay again and recommended to other travellers.

Austere on the outside, not easy to spot from the road, and harder still to penetrate, Change Overnight nevertheless offers a rewarding stay. With codes for access and no staff on site, just a manager on call, your stay will be an impersonal one. But the apartment is spacious, clean and modern, with every appliance you could need for a medium-term stay. The kitchen includes instruction booklets for all the devices, save unfortunately the washing machine which operates to protocols all its own. A minor inconvenience is the fact that bedroom and bathroom are upstairs, which will prove a problem if you have heavy suitcases. Garage parking is tight but reassuringly secure. Slept well, both floors air-conditioned.

As a solo traveller just spending one night in Launceston, The Star Hotel was the ideal choice. It is centrally located and street parking was easy to find and free between 17.30 and 09.00 next day. The room itself was compact but comfortable with an ensuite. The friendly, efficient female staff member was able to help with local advice and when I decided to have dinner later, the food and service were exceptional. Three see a couple of stair cases to negotiate but really no trouble. This place was a highlight of my travel in Tasmania.

I stayed as a single occupant for a business trip. I didn't need parking and was only staying for one night. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was clean and well equipped. I liked the canvas prints of Tasmanian landmarks. While the fan in the bathroom sounded like a cargo plane taking off, it was easily forgiven as it was only needed when having a shower. The toiletries supplied seemed lovely but I only used to body wash and soap - there was body wash, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, sanitary bag. The bed was comfortable. In the firmer side but I like that. Plenty of comfy pillows. Location was central - the name doesn't lie. I was able to walk easily to many parts of the city. The little details really amplify a stay in a hotel. At Launceston Central it was the fact that there was ear plugs available in the lift. I had forgotten mine and can't sleep without them. Saved me a trip to the chemist!? My biggest regret about my stay is not grabbing the name of the person at reception when I arrived (5:30pm, 14/09). She was personable, authentic and engaging. Employee of the month material. I especially enjoyed her work on a crochet unicorn!!
